Yamaha are doing exactly what Honda aren't - they're constantly innovating and throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. That's the stuff that brought ducati to the top and I'm excited to see what Yamaha can do!
@@stevie5100 Honda's problem this year is they don't have a Fabio, or Marc Marquez. They are probably looking at recovery in 2025 - 26, and a full return in 2027, with the new formula. And possibly Marc. I agree we shouldn't ever rule Honda out, and if they get the bike a bit better they might move forward too. They have some fast riders who only need a slightly better machine, as Zarco reminds us every now and then. @@patkennedy1 honda was what was wrong with honda. He just rode around problems and the bike didnt get developed. Until tge problem gap was too big and he moved to ducati
With Fabio I think Yamaha have a rider where if they can get the bike "close enough" he is still immensely talented and can win another title, or more. I don't know that I can say the same about Honda.
That's certainly true about Fabio, and to some extent Yamaha also have such a rider in Alex Rins, except that Rins has never had seasons of a bike being primarily developed around him to show it consistently. But his win at COTA on the LCR Honda, and his sublime Phillip Island ride, should serve of proof of his talent. Honda had such a rider in Marc Marquez of course, but by then they had developed the bike so much around him, no-one ese could ride it.
It feels like Yamaha are doing everything they can to improve, and Honda are doing the bare minimum, they have the same concessions to do what the Yamaha are doing, yet they have not.
Yeah, you wonder if Honda is admitting to throwing in the towel till the 2027 new reg changeover and focusing their efforts there whereas Yamaha are going full steam ahead with 2025 and 2026 and depending on how success is seen these next two years then they'll focus their full attention to the 27 bike. I know Honda worldwide are not in the best shape financially and really needs to see some positive changes as these next couple of years to 2030 are really crucial and Yamaha as a company are much smaller with their broader interests not being anywhere near as vast as Honda so I think Honda is being more cautious with their current motorsports investments where if worse case they can pull out without it having a larger ripple to their company bottom line.
@@ArthurZakaryan23 Yes we can see the car companies are struggling, as well as some motorcycle manufacturers, but it does look like Yamaha are throwing everything at this. It may be 'sink or swim desperation', or it may be a confident engineering company making a realistic attempt to recover its crown. Only time will tell. Fabio appears to be riding with a whole company riding on his shoulders. I guess whichever one publicly files for bankruptcy first will be a clue. But that could be Ducati too - their connection to VW might also hit strife, just like Honda/Nissan etc. It seems a lot of car manufacturers went ahead presuming electric vehicles would be the norm sooner than it looks like they will, if they ever do. Which looks increasingly unlikely every day, and nothing frightens investors more than uncertainty. And an over-investment in racing, like KTM, along with other issues obviously, turns them off investing in racing as well.
@@patkennedy1 Yeah the EV revolution seems like a bust right now at least to 2030 or later when battery tech and charging infrastructure in places outside of just major coastal cities improves vastly over what we have. Idiotic politicians with no clue how to run their run lives let alone the biggest state in the US.
Zarco said that Honda isn't doing nothing ! the problem is that they're so unconfident about their knowledge and where they go that they use too much energy and ressources into multiple versions of the same part ! even though riders say it's not working, they keep working on it because computers say it's good. do you see the issue here ? reminds me of Mercedes in F1.
Just stumbled across your channel. Pleasantly surprised just how on piont your knowledge is and how concisely you break down the upcoming season. Congratulations ,keep up the excellent work.. New Sub
Wow, i really didn´t think Yamaha would end up developing a V4. Figured they would be too stubborn in trying to make the inline 4 work. Excited to see where this will lead!
They are doing unbelivable work and realy with the new rules...it will be interesting what will they choose, for now how i can read the V4 is still better for the aero package so i gues they will go with the V4 engine
In my opinion the V4 concept is a well promoted fart by ducati. 😂 The only advantage on motogp bike is the smaller frontal area. This translated to higher top speed. With V4 is difficult to turn. That is why ducati is using the ride height device. On road bikes, ducati is forced to use 1200cc engine to produce power. Otherwise there is nothing extra. Same Aprilia.
I think the teams have realized that a V4 has more power potential than the cross-plane inline 4. I think Yamaha will probably have the V4 on the grid with either Jack or Miguel mid season, than Fabio and Alex a little later.
Launch control. How was it at the test? Have you seen UA-cam video of KTM Red Bull launch control? It looked immense. But I've not seen timings, speed. Honda launch control spun up and went sideways. Lmao.
It’s not just speed they have that. Of course better power on the bike which is a new engine which hopefully later this season the V4. But its electronics and aero that’s what js the weakest currently
Yh they gave Fabio plenty of power and they realised very quickly that their aero and electronics couldn't handle that power, there are deeper problems they need to work out before just chucking more ponies at the problem
@@frederickgent1918 No doubt there is all this, and more. The interaction of top speed and aero for Yamaha recently, as Dylan touched on, has been that their effective lower-speed and cornering-suited aero offers too much airflow resistance for top speed, and the adequately-powerful Yamaha has suffered lower top speeds as much for this factor, as any lack in pure engine power. The reality is that - for both Yamaha and Honda - they let Ducati get away in aero, ride-heights etc, as they thought Ducati were getting carried away with 'ideas'. Now they find themselves having to play catch up, and it just can't happen overnight. It takes a certain number of track hours to sort these issues, and all the while Ducati and the like are also doing this as well, making a 'moving target'. Those older fans will remember Honda doing this in the 60s, and of course almost ever since. I suspect they will all be fairly close by 2027, with the new formula acting as something of an equaliser, but there's a lot of racing between now and then! Now they all need a couple of seasons to redevelop WITHOUT ride heights, and less aero actual surface area, whilst creating a whole new 850cc bike. Busy busy. Can't wait. 🙂

Great material, glad I found you. I'll see you around!
Pramac give Yamaha technical skills because Pramac had the winning bike. So Pramac's tech team can provide knowledge, so long as Yamaha listen.
I see Yamaha making big step forward this year, all the data they will have from 2 extra bikes, 2 riders will help with their development severely
It's great to see that Yamaha hasn't given up on the inline 4, I think they dropped the ball on development for many years!
