McDonald's Corporation is an American multinational fast food chain, founded in 1940 as a restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald, in San Bernardino, California, United States. They rechristened their business as a hamburger stand, and later turned the company into a franchise, with the Golden Arches logo being introduced in 1953 at a location in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1955, Ray Kroc, a businessman, joined the company as a franchise agent and proceeded to purchase the chain from the McDonald brothers. McDonald's had its previous headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, but moved its global headquarters to Chicago in June 2018.
There's another museum at the oldest operationg McDonald's in Downey! It's not anywhere near as big as this, but they have a life size Mac Tonight statue and some other cool retro stuff.
Your videos take me back to my childhood. I was born in 73 so 83 I was a 10 year old. Loving life in the 80's. 84 my aunt took me to a Mickel Jackson concert in Jacksonville Florida.
I want to go back to the 1980's so bad.
Yeah, today sucks.
It keeps the hot side hot and the cool side cool, just like 80's Life
This brought back memories. I totally remember like it was yesterday going to McDonalds with my Brothers or Cousins and friends and climbing into that giant Cheeseburger head thinking it was the funnest thing in the world lol. It didn't take much to keep us entertained back then. Good times.
LOVE all those 80s happy meal boxes and toys!
80’s was the best time ever to be a kid, Iam so glad I grew up in that era!!
McDonald’s was such a fun place to eat as a kid
We had fried cherry pies in Minnesota in the 80s. Miss the fried pies too! I heard all the McDonalds in Hawaii still fry their pies...and Popeye's apple pie I believe is fried, and isn't bad when missing the old fried pies at McDs :)
They need to bring those back. They were too good, should of never been discontinued.
They still fry em in the UK...
Very epic museum ;)
Those late 70’s early 80’s toys brought back memories. I was the youngest of 3 and once I started going to school my mom took a job at McDonald’s part time while we were in school. She would bring me these toys all the time when she picked us up from school. Great video!
Thank you brother wow bright back so much memories I had all ten toys too
I used to have all the food transformer toys back in the 80's. Thanks for trip down memory lane.
Man that was nostalgic. Thank you for this video!
Good video! Super nostalgic! I loved McDs as a kid.
🤘😁👍
Wow, it’s neat that that place exists, but it seems pretty threadbare. Especially the outdoor items. Still, it blows my mind to see SO many of the things in there. Just like you, Kurt, I haven’t really eaten at McDonald’s much at all in the past 20-22 years. But growing up in all of the 80’s and 90’s, seeing the span of years in these displays and recognizing SO many things in them, makes me realize just how much we went to McDonald’s in my family too. I grew up in a very small town in northern Michigan, and our McDonald’s, which wasn’t even there until 1984, was literally the only recognizable form of civilization, name brands, or pop culture we had. So naturally it was a big deal when it opened and the whole town flocked to it. I had a couple of birthday parties there, I used to go there for soft serve after my mom’s adult softball games, we occasionally were there weekend mornings for their hot cakes, and I loved getting Happy Meals and those toys. My mom even bought McDonald’s gift certificates for some people in our lives like my school bus driver or mail carrier. And to this day I still have a couple of old plush McDonald’s Christmas ornaments on my tree. The couple from The Little Mermaid and a mother reindeer from earlier. But man, even all of that packaging for the food I remember like it was yesterday.
Hello Kurt!! HNY!!! I used to love Mac DLT .. this museum was awesome sauce. Thank you so much… 😄😁
Woooooow Kurt! The forgotten memories that you just brought back from my childhood here is astonishing. Thank you so much for what you do.
Totally rad. Great video! I live 10 minutes away from here. Lived out here all my life and never stopped there .. ever! This year I will.
I still have pics of my 6th birthday party at McDonald’s from 1980.
Another awesome video Kurt! As odd as it might sound. I still have all of my McDonald's toys. I remember when they came out with the Happy Meal.
This was an awesome video. Brings back alot of memories. Thank you for this video
So much nostalgia! I lived in Grand Terrace until 1988, and my parents would take us to Macdonalds in San Bern all the time!
The good old days!👍
Next time I’m in LA I’ll take a drive out to see this
I grew up near this location, my parents remember going to this original location as my mom went to SBHS, which is right down the street. Thanks for venturing out my way.
Talk about a nostalgia trip... this really helped me remember everything McDonald's use to have when i was a kid. So many toys and memorabilia compared to this dead zone it is now. But yes thank you my friend you did a great service in filling up my retro tank.
McDonald's was bomb in the 70s 80s and 90s ...went down hill from 2000s to now.
Seeing the chocolate chip cookies really triggered memories for me. What was it with all the cookies back in the 80’s they were so damn good lol!
Omg thanks for posting this videos! Dam so many memories! My childhood was Awsome! I still have that Batmobile and the Batman figure from the Animated series! 🖤🤍
“2000’s, I’m out “. Amen brother !
Stop handling religious words!!!
We had a lot of this in Australia too!! So cool to see the muppet baby toys, the space ship box, the styrofoam boxes.. and all of the wacky ads with the hamburgler.. so many cool memories
Wow, what a museum! Thank you _so_ much for this video. Brought back many memories, even stuff that I had already forgotten about! We had many of these toys - and the same packagings even - all the way in our cold country of Finland! I definitely agree that everything seemed more fun in the 80s...
Wow cool video!
Great video now I’m hungry for Big Mac meal 🍔🍟
I was never a fan of McDonald's growing up; however, one of my daughters lives for McDonald's. So when we returned to Southern California for a trip last March we took our daughters to the museum but it was closed and we had to meet my brother so we couldn't wait for it to open.
Thanks Kurt! Brought back many memories and yes the 80’s were the BEST
I didn't eat McDonald's for many many years. I have been eating it again and it is the best it has ever been. I've been impressed. I do wish they'd bring back the old French fries recipe.
we had McPizza up here in Canada and I thought they were really good and there is a petition going around up here on FB to bring them back. I always liked the boiling hot cherry pie with a orange drink...
all things that we don't have anymore in Mcdonalds in Canada
Thanks for the memories Kurt !!!
Tim in Toronto...
Now a days, McDonald's food isn't worth giving to my dog. Back in the 80's and 90s, it was the place to go!
Awesome man!! Thanks for showing this! I shared it with a buddy who is a big fan of all this stuff!!!!
very cool!
Welcome to San Bernardino where it all started and I can relate and hear the kid in u. I use to love my Mac tonight Porsche
i was just reminded the big mac jingle; "two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun..."
mcdonalds stopped deep frying pies in the early 90s due to the perception they were unhealthy. sucks because you really don't go to mcdonalds for healthy food and the current baked version is not good. i basically grew up on mcdonalds as a kid/teen in the 70s and 80s. mcdonalds, pioneer chicken and taco bell were the closest fast food spots near my home and were and after school hang out. the only other places in my small central valley town were a&w root beer, pizza hut and round table pizza (a big hangout after friday night high school football games).
mcdonalds did taste better back then also. i get craving for it, but when i get it i don't always feel so well after eating it being in my mid-50s now lol.
This took me back when I was a little bad a** 😈 #Memories 🥺
Really nice. Would have been nice if they had some kind of "working at McDonald's" exhibit. I read that at one time, 25% of all people working, worked at McDonald's as their teenage job. I worked at McDonald's back in the early 80's, when I was 15/16, when McDonald's was still the burger joint restaurant Ray Kroc put in place. Big grills where burgers were actually cooked. It was also back when McDonald's was still a phenomenon, and there were still relatively few restaurants in the city. I worked at the second busiest McDonald's in Canada, so maybe it wasn't typical, but I remember the Saturday afternoon and evening shifts, when there were 10 tills open, and it was 8 deep at every one of them. Two grills cranking out Big Macs with the infamous "turn turn on Macs" (12 more patties are laid every time a set of burgers are flipped) for hours to keep up the demand. Mac buns was a hellish work station that only a select few could actually manage. Those days are long gone, but yeah, it was the classic fast foot burger joint.
Thank you for posting this! I do wish they never tore down the original MC Donald’s!
From the same time... remember all these. 😭
Wow. Dang cool. Loved the horror music added lol! Cracked me up.
Nice was just there a month ago>>>>
Great video
Another good vid 👍
You need to do a The Last Dragon filming locations that be awesome!
This was a good video also are you a huge fan of LEGOs 👍📲🤔
Thank you. I wouldn't say I'm a HUGE fan. But they were definitely part of my life
im lovin' it!
Yes, you showed the Mc DLT burgers! The cheese should have been on the hot side!
I thought the 1st Mcd's was at Downey but thats the Oldest McDonald's - hope you do video from there one day
Can you do the film locations for the John Candy movie Armed And Dangerous? Btw Cool content on ur channel
MC Donald's Museum Love my favorite one fan Big 80 you tube channel Love my favorite one fan Big Mc Donald food 💖🍟🍔
You should go to the oldest operating McDonalds in Downey California and get the fried apple pies they still sell them there and there's also a museum there too.
I live like 2 minutes away from the Downey location. It’s a cool place to visit
I remember all the grease that came out of the burgers and fries. So tasty back then.
Yeah it’s not a good thing that food is still intact hahaha
Expected the US to carry hotwheels toys as well? Cool video, much better toys than in Europe.
My wife was wondering how often you visited Mickey D since you had a lot of those toys! ;)
Even i recognized some things and i'm from Europe. When i was a kid they had great toys. You go there for the Burgers and fries but also for the toys.
I've been there and seen the museum. It's okay. I've heard some people think that the restaurant there serves special menu items that are unavailable at any other McDonald's, but it just has a regular menu. Just a heads up for anyone heading out to see it.
I actually have a lot of the toys on display with my collectibles on the nostalgia wall
I too almost got stuck in the officer Big Mac jail, dig that karmann ghia in the back.
13:18 I don't know if there were ever a finer crayon box/holder crafted before or since!
Great video but you skipped right over Beanie Babies, being a 16 year old working at McDonald’s during that time was unbelievably insane!!
11:27 I loved the space ship n the boats a lot with the sticker was the best I memeber allllll of the toys!! Back then toys was made better lasted longer even the cheap ones
Hi, did you ever do The Repo Man?
Kurt. Plastic stretch things made by Tomy called Popoids. They say nostalgia sells, but every new restaurant looks the same.
Cool vw karmann ghia.
There's a house in louisville Kentucky that has all the old outdoor playground stuff all placed nicely in the side yard. Not sure to many people know about it!!!
Long gone
Pretty sure I have scars on my tongue from biting into the apple pies before they had a chance to cook down! 😂
Kurt I love you n thank you….
Those stretchable tube toys are called Popoids. I took a screenshot and used Google to find it.
Do you remember the 39 and 29 cent hamburgers and cheeseburgers from the late 90s?
That arcade is alright but, a few streets over is Extraordinaire Arcade way better
Around 2010 they remodeled both McDonald's in my town got rid of the play areas and the old statue i went there numerous times raiding the dumpsters for stuff The contractor saw me once he said a collector bought every thing
You should do locations of nothing but trouble. With chevy chase and demi more.
They created alot of item through out the decades
bro, there is no video on youtube about saw movie film location... please make video about "saw" locations
i live a few blocks from there ..
Never knew McDonald’s used to deep fry their apple pies
I watch dinosaurs all the time. I watch the founder
Was that on the site the McDonalds brothers opened in 1940 ? The one ran by the real founders ran ,who Ray Krock forced to lose their business....I mean aquired from them ?
I ate McDonalds for lunch today.
KFC has the fried pies. They taste the same.
You sound like Norm Mcdonald.
McDonalds.....I absolutely feel the same..... how about Burger King
TACO BELL WAS ALSO FOUND IN SAN BERNA-GHETTO!
"Founded"
wendys over mcdonalds any day
This makes me realize how boring McDonalds is now
Spinach pie 🤮
Crazy!!!
The first McDonald's was in 1955 in Illinois.....so dude has his history VERY wrong
You are referring to the first franchise opened by Ray Kroc. THIS is the original location where the McDonald's brothers opened their first hamburger stand and revolutionized fast food service.
Wrong the first one Kroc opened as a franchise is the Illinois one this is the original location in San Bernardino as it started as a BBQ joint then they focused on burgers, fries and shakes. Guess u did watch the founder
It's so odd how bland and boring McDonald's restaurants are now. No life. ...no spark....no color....no mascot in sight. It's just not fun anymore.
Exactly!! mcdonalds used to be fun! it was an experience, all the characters, the playground, the hamburger seats, etc... it was a real treat. Now its like an institution, its so sad.
The new McD sucks!!!
Hey Kurt!!!! So did I!!!!
