I also have Polymer Canadian dollar banknotes
Great video, love your work! However I think u missed the fact that the first Canadian $1 bill had a super fancy serial number of *1234567*..!! 🤩
@Silverpicker ... How are you bro ... Believe you underpriced some of the finds, including the 5 dollar woodchopper ...worth a few hundred
What’s your email?
Hi silverpicker! Last friday I bought a confederate dollar but I started my currency collection and it is growing you mostly motivated me to keep on collecting keep up the work!
the first Canadian banknote shows a scene from the western prairies. Each denomination showed a scene from a different part of Canada. The second bill shows the original parliament building centre block that burned down in a fire. The current building was the one that was built to replace it. Only the library remained untouched from the fire and some of the beautiful wood architecture of the original building can be seen there. The 1971 series displayed Canada's industries on the back. Logging on the 1$ with a veiw of the new parliament buildings with the surviving library in the foreground. Fishing on the $5, and the oil refinery on the back of the $10. The holographic tower on the polymer $20 note is the peace tower found at the centre of the Canadian parliament center block building.
Thank you so much, Emanuel, for the amazing explanations!
@Silverpicker cut it out with your scamming!
That note is also the rare devils hair variety! Check it again!
Sm 1234567. Is it a specimen?
12:24 I hope you realize you have a perfect ladder serial number there.
Embarrassingly I did not until I was done filming 😮
@Silverpicker Bad bot
That was the first thing I recognized when the bill came up. Lol
The uncut two dollar Canadian banknotes were sold in sheets of 40 to the public. The strip of 3 Bonin /thiessen EGT prefix was sold in a 4x10 format sheet and was probably cut from a sheet of 40.The uncut pair of Thiessen/crow BBU prefix was sold in a 5x8 format sheet and was cut from a sheet of 40.
So these were cut up by a 3rd party company it seems
Sweet collection pick up! This is what I can tell you. the $20 gold certificate is beautiful! But ALL money was redeemable in gold in 1928. What makes it a gold certificate was that the note was actually backed by gold in the treasury. You could take any combination of coins and currency and redeem them for a $20 gold coin. Just like you could redeem any currency for silver (dollars). This was true until 1933 when the government made it illegal to own gold. That's why they came out with the 1934 series that no longer says redeemable in gold. Your laundry $2 note has damage on 3 corners. $2 notes were considered unlucky or cursed. In order to remove the curse, you had to tear a corner off. Then spend the note. When the next person got it, they would tear another corner. Once all four corners were gone, the bad luck (curse) would be removed. That's why SOOO many $2's have torn corners. Your 1928 $20... There are 12 federal reserve banks. Each one is represented by a letter A-L. Your note is from Chicago, which is G. If you look at the serial number, it also starts with G. G is the 7th letter. Only in 1928 did they put the number here. Your 7 matches the four 7s around the front of the note. Starting with the 1928 A series, they put a letter in the circle. Only 1928 has the number. You have so many 1954 Canadian notes. That was the first year that featured Queen Elizabeth. The very first printing had the image of the devil in her hair. It looks like you have all of the corrected versions. That's not the star of David, it's a maple leaf. lol! Your 1928 B $10 note. "Redeemable in gold". This is the last year you will see this statement on currency. All money was redeemable in gold until 1933. Not a gold certificate, but still good for gold. On your 1914 FRN $20, the 4-D refers to the federal reserve bank. D is Cleveland. So this serial number starts with D and is the 4th letter. Thus, 4-D. I also checked the back of your wood chopper. It's not the " PCBLIC" error. Very nice collection!
MVP comment! Thank you so much for all of the amazing added context!
It's not the star of David, rather it is the symbol of Canada, the maple leaf
The maple leaf symbol on the 1967 1 dollar bill is the symbol of the 100th anniversary of Canada 1867-1967.
The first Canadian dollar's serial number was 1234567, how in the world did you miss that?!
Exactly!!! i was like he has to be kidding me !! How he missed that??
I know, I know, I'm totally embarrassed! I need to pay the seller more now, that's for sure!
@@Silverpicker yeah that's 😧
@@Silverpicker how does one contact you to buy. Just came back from San Francisco to find my ranch was robbed. Tools, goats, horse tack, jewelry, heirlooms alot was taken. They even grabbed my collection of stamps, coins and pewter. I'm trying to rebuild what I lost. Ain't first time I been hit, but sure was the most hurting. Ranch hands were pistol whipped and my cameras were destroyed but we got a plate number so I'm praying I get something's back.
I think the reverse of the Canadian $1 is beautiful. It’s not the land you’re meant to look at. It’s the sky that’s the focal point.
The Reverse of the $1 bill that you call the bleak wasteland is a tribute to the prairie provinces which is a breadbasket region of the world. The Centennial dollar is not a bottomless Star of David. It was a stylized maple leaf in the style of the 1960s when it was issued. A different stylized mapleleaf was issued on Canada 125.
The 2 dollar notes are sequential
Good catch!
Thanks!
At 14:25, the two 2$ bilks have neighbors serial numbers!!
Thanks for pointing that out!
In the 1954 Canadian series, they wanted to have bills to represent the parts/provinces of Canada. The $1 is to represent the prairie provinces, as they are a huge part of Canada's geography.
I read on Wikipedia that the line green $20 bill from 1928 that had the number instead of the letter came from the A series and the $20 bill with the letter instead of the number came out later that year in the B series.
20:00 I'm assuming that the text reading redeemable in gold is due to the fact that the USA was on the gold standard at the time and citizens could still redeem it for gold, however in 1933 Roosevelt made it illegal for citizens to own gold certificates and gold except in jewelry, as well as preventing citizens from redeeming gold from federal reserve notes, from then until 1971 the USA only allowed foreign countries to redeem the dollar for gold.
There are 12 Federal Reserve banks from Boston to San Fransisco. Each was given a number/ letter ( 1-A). older bills had the number and than they went to the letters only.
I personally think that the star represents a maple leaf as it is their national symbol of canada
I think you're right lol
I don't know if you noticed but one of the 1954 2$ canadian bill is a star note.
The building that looks like it has big Ben is the Canadian Parliament buildings in Ottawa
Great Video! Don't know much about paper currency but I have recently started asking at the bank when I go in to see if they have any older style notes (or if customers have turned them in). Also started checking serial #s and star notes.
Unfortunately for us, most bank tellers are knowledgeable about those older banknotes and will probably change them out themselves. Can you blame them?
That's an amazing way of finding great stuff for cheap!
@@NuthinFancyCollectibles That’s been my experience but it’s not universal. One bank I go had a ton of old wheat pennies, Buffalo nickels and war nickels get turned in that they ignored but they were knowledgeable enough to buy up the bills from the early to mid 1900s. Other banks I have been to, they seem to have no idea.
You've probably figured out by now: 1928 was the transition year from large notes to small.
In that year you can find bills with the district number in the first series, successive series used the District letter and the last year of Gold Certificates (Also the FRN's have a that "redeemable for gold" marking) and of course Silver Certificates.
So that would make the ones with the District NUMBER rarer.
I'm not familiar with the seal with District Number AND Letter though.
Only the 1928 & 1928A series used corresponding numbers with the federal district letter. On your 1928 20$ bill, the serial number begins with G,which is the 7th letter in the alphabet, which corresponds to Chicago. There are 12 federal districts. This was used on all denominations. Also the 1928 series used what was called the gold clause ,they were not gold certs, because it also says or lawful money, which could have been silver as well, that changed in the 1934 series
12:43 you see the star of david, I see the confederacy of independent systems
The thing I appreciate about Canadian currency - they aren't afraid to change things around, it seems. Different designs, different symbols, different impressions. In contrast, on the US side of things it's the same portraits of the same dudes for decades, centuries even. Just changing the seal, and slightly reposition all the letters.... How boring. It's the definition of "can I copy your homework" meme.
Lol, I also think it's time for a US banknotes upgrade
Yes… As someone pointed out already, on the centennial dollar, it is a stylized Mapleleaf and boy you’ve got a great builder with the perfect run of numbers! Someone would pay big for that one
I am surprised no one answered your question on the 4D and 7 bills
1=A 2=B 3=C 4=D...7=G
Fairly easy pattern to figure out!
Very much appreciate it, Curtis!
I think I’d keep both because they have different cities, and it’s not like the new ones where it is small, it it’s big and bold and part of the design but if you are only keeping one, the the better condition.
I decided to go with the better condition one too :)
The Federal Reserve note you saw that was payable in gold was a 1928 fed note, this was before owning gold bullion or gold certificates was made illegal. So if you had had that note before about 1933 you would have been able to take it into a bank or a federal reserve office and get a 20$ gold double eagle. The difference between the federal reserve note and a gold certificate is that one is the liability of the federal reserve, which is the central bank of the United States. And the other which is a liability of the treasury of the United States, and so is directly payable by the United States to the bearer as opposed to being payable by the federal reserve.
Hope this helps.
That was SUPER helpful. Thanks so much for the additional context
I collect from both countries as well, and I am jealous of your Wood-Chooper $5.00 Bill,, been one on my bucket list,,for quite awhile. Awesome design. Great deal for $1000
Among all the previous comments you may have already heard, the Series 1934 bills are not the first small size bills, that was Series 1928. Several of my best notes are Series 1928 $1 silver certificates and Series 1928 $1 United States Notes, both are funny backs. Keep up the good work my friend.
That $20 bill at 23:30 is a Cleveland Federal Reserve note of a Grover CLEVELAND portrait. It rough, but very cool!
Lol I love that you noticed that. So cool
12:38 - It appears to be a stylized maple leaf, not Star of David. Also i'm curious how the Canadian 1 dollar notes are valued at 78c? Is that just face value w/US exchange? I've seen dealers here in Canada charigng at least 5 bucks for those 1 dollar notes (CAD of course). Those older Canadian notes are worth far more than shown (at least in my experience). If you know where I can get them for, essentially face value, please let me know! (Example: Listing I see here 5x 1 dollar notes from the 70's for 25.00 CAD)
24:49 - Would go with best condition note
Some of those notes actually have fancy serial numbers, so that was an oversight. Unfortunately, at least in the US, you can't get much more than face value for circulated Canadian notes
@@Silverpicker Sounds like I need to visit the states more often lol. I'd love to pickup our canadian older notes for those prices!
Any notes you purchase at face value would have little colectability and chance of increasing in value,They would be more for a keepsake or novelty.Colonial Acres in Kitchener Ontario has an excellent website and a huge selection of Canadian banknotes. At present, you can buy 5- 1954 one dollar bills in circulated condition for $8.99 in the Blowout specials section. You get what you pay for.For a good free reference guide for prices search-Coins and Canada-(Canadian coins, banknotes, values, price guide.)
@@loubrok1550 Yep, strictly for the artistic value at this point.
I'm trying to see the signatures on your Canadian bills since some signature are more valuable. Your 25cents is called SHINPLASTER and more valuable than you think.Anne also the replacement notes. Most of the signature are by Rasminsky.which is common. Look for Coyne/Towers signature they have a bit of premium. And also the "devils face" ( the face of the devil in the hair of queen Elizabeth 1954 series).
The 1954 Canadian bills were apart of a Canadian landscape series from across the country that the bank of Canada issued. Canada has a very vast and unique landscape, and the goal of the bank note series was to try and represent all of the different geographic regions that exist in the country. The Canadian 1954 $1 bill on the back of the bank note is a picture of the outside of a small town in the province of Saskatchewan that is located near the trans-Canada highway. Not to sound aggressive, but I am sorry to say that your interpretation of the back of the banknote as an “oblique wasteland” and “weird empty barren hell-scape” I strongly disagree with. I am from Saskatchewan and am proud to be, I think it is one of the most simply beautiful places on earth because of the crops that sway in the breeze and make it look like a never ending golden ocean of grain. Yeah, I have also been to the Canadian Rockies but beauty is found in the simple things in life. P.S. if you find any of these signatures “Coyne-Towers” or “Beattie-Coyne” on any denomination on a 1954 Canadian bank note and it has a “devil’s face” in the queens hair it is worth a premium. Also, on the polymer notes there is a very cool security feature that lots of people do not no about, if you shine a laser pointer through the transparent maple leaf with the little circle in the middle located on the left side on the face of the bill it displays the denomination of the bill in a circular pattern on a flat surface. Hope this was interesting too you!
Hey Evan, I think you are right. "Hellscape" was definitely a bit of an exaggeration. I tried to make it clear that I love canada and love it's nature. I just thought that it looked a little bleak compared to the other notes. I would love to visit Saskatchewan and I am 100% sure that I will find it beautiful.
I personally would keep the PA one, as I did with the brown seal 1929 $20 that was from my hometown
Totally hear that. Still think I'm gonna go with the Chicago one though lol
On the Canadian 20 dollar polymer note, below the hologram of the Queen is the Peace tower of the center block of the Parliment buildings.
Thanks Lou!
at 11;36,, as you are well aware of,, that Canadian $1.00 bill,, is a beauty,, with a sweet ladder serial number
11:38 look the serial nr 😲😍
I know lol How did I miss that!
One of the Canadian one dollar banknote had a serial of 1234567
Yes, I can't believe I missed that while I was filming!
That $20 gold certificate is my favorite
I love it too :)
You don’t mention where you buy the album of banknote. Can you tell us where you buy it?
amzn.to/2Tmj4xJ
7:14 sure you're laughing at the funny back...not the 69 in the serial number 😉
Also I'd keep the nicer bill over the name of the bank on it.
Lol yep
The $.25 fractional Canadian note is referred to as a shin plaster.
Anybody know where I can find a note album like the one in the video? I seriously like the look of that album. Max, does it have a UPC on the back?
Alas it does not :( It's really old, not sure they make them anymore
the back of the bill wich you called a bleak wasteland is just a farm field probably meant to represent candas agricultural presence. not sure why you chose to call it a bleak wasteland.
“Hellscape” 😆
Those are some incredible bank notes. The 1907 $5 is by far the best in my opinion.
I totally agree :)
isn't that $1 silver cert # E46039781D an error bill it was cut short on the bottom???
Just a heads up that wood chopper looks like the "PCBLIC" error note from what I see on the back of it. Nice pick ups.
The 'star of david' is not. It is a stylized maple leaf for what was the 100th Anniversary of Canada. Google Canadian Centennial and you will see this symbol was used everywhere in 1968.
Hahaah that's so funny. The mind goes where it goes, I guess lol
Thank you for sharing this. I enjoyed seeing these different notes.
So glad you enjoyed :)
That's farm land in Canada and not a bleak landscape, if you know anything about Canada they have vast open farm lands in Canada
The 1967 1 dollar bill the star with no bottom point if you look closely makes a maple leaf
Thanks Tim! Super interesting
Sick finds. My coin shop used to put red seal $2 or $1 SC in change when they were low. Beat up but who cared.
I love that lol. Such a small, cool gesture that makes you remember the store!
Hey silverpickcer what would you say the grades of most of those American notes are like are they F, Vf, XF, or maybe Au.
Really tough to say. They range across all of the midrange grades
Thanks, I had faith and new you’d get back to me because your a great UA-camr that cares about his fans.
That Canadian polymer note is similar to Australia's. Makes sense
It is indeed.
Go with the one which you have connection that is the beauty of collecting it is the story of the collection.
Really like your videos... Especially like those GOLD Certificates
Thanks Tyler! Me too lol
did you just assign 78c to a ladder note??? :O
A perfect ladder too! I’ll buy that one lol!
The first Canadian bill has a super fancy number 1234567!
I know, I know! I can't believe I missed it😮
I’ve been collecting for years and I’ve never heard about those Hawaii bills. Thanks so much for sharing 🔥💪
So glad you enjoyed it, Rex!
24:29 both.
I would say to keep the better condition 1914 1 dollar bill. But if it was me I would keep both lol.
I kind of like the 2 DOLLAR Canada bill (at approx. 16:50). The scene on the reverse might be an early Canadian settlement.
I like it also, just not as much as the ones with the steam or mountains
@@Silverpicker Hellscape :-D
I would say your type set wouldn't be complete without both the Pennsylvania and Chicago notes
I think I need to draw the line at different Fed reserve banks. Otherwise I need 12 of every single note!
12:52 that’s the first parliament building lol it’s written right there
Thanks Bruno!
4-D means the the 4th federal reserve bank in the United States and D is the 4th letter in the alphabet
Dude... 11:42. Well more than 78 cents. Look at that serial number! 1234567
I know, I know! I'm embarrassed that I missed that on the first pass! Definitely more than 78 cents lol
I love any bill with Grover Cleveland on it
21:24 Is a Radar Serial number.
Yep, I can't believe I missed that while I was filming!
Great video and a nice bundle of notes, hello from Wales S.P.
Condition for the collection, frame/display the personal connection Pennsylvanian note
Smart idea
each Thursday I wait for you to show us your collection
Thanks Yurii! So glad you're enjoying the videos!
That last 1907 $5 is a WOODCHOPPER not a woodcutter
Thanks!
WOW!!!! A Hawaii bill in that condition is worth $30?!?!?!
I thought the "Star of David" was supposed to be a maple leaf lol
ewwwwww, an oil refinery
Cool Bohemian note :)
Woodcutter note is super cool.
The crisp Hawaii note is actually probably worth more, but only if I got it graded. As it is, it's really only about $30. I think you're right on the maple leaf 😂
The Canadian 1954 series has a "devil face" variety so make sure to check those out
I checked but none of these had it. Oh well
The one that is closer to your heart should be the keeper it is your type set collection it should be what is more important to you 😁
$20.00 bill at 15:33 with the 7 on it is a Gold certificate. Also $10.00 note at 19:53 is also gold.
14:16 consecutive notes...
I was waiting for you to get into the notes. i must be psychic you just uploaded it 9 hours ago
Lol, I'm definitely getting much more into it!
Want to buy blue seal one dollar bill
How to buy?
Chicago and Penslyvania because if family comes over to look at your curency collectoin they will think that maybe one of your relitives in Pennsylvania could have touched it and keap the one Chicago bill in your collection and keep the Pennsylvania bill in some box or give the Pennsylvania bill to one of your relitives.
Awesome notes! Keep them both never hurts to have 2!
I hear that, but if I sell one, I can use that money to buy a different one 😁
The one with the closer connection.:)
I'll keep both the Chicago and the Pennsylvania one
I ended up keeping Chicago and selling PA
@@Silverpicker Sounds cool! I will agree if I had to sell one.
Go personal connection. I'm hoping to get a national currency note from my hometown one day. It's a small town so it would be even cooler.
That sounds really awesome! I'm still torn because the PA note isn't actually that close of a connection and it's in terrible shape
Your 1 dollar Canada note was a ladder 1234567 @12:23
Looks like you hit a good one.... already even with the mystery box to go is a win!
Hey look its another hawaii note another from this vid and the other one in a trade vid on silverpicker i think it was jason who traded with silverpicker
Jason 😁
I have this argument with my son A lot I collect coins things are worth what you can get for them not quite the book says or what you think in your head
I would probably keep both.
Hello, how Can I buy the new your 10 bill from you?
Hey, your very first Canadian 1$ is a LADDER serial number and could be worth up to a thousand Canadian dollar!....
this is awesome bro
Very cool currency collection!
Thanks Robert!
I also like to buy the Large $1 feom Chicago or Pennsylvania.
Shoot me a message on Instagram @thesilverpicker
@Silverpicker 12:23 the note is #1234567
Don't separate the consecutive $2 bills!!!
24:41 ooor just keep both?
Are we not gonna talk about the serial number of the first Canadian bill? 12345678? 😲
A great purchase!!
13:01 it is also a date note 6-9-1923
Nice! Thanks!
