    Absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to hurry up my painting of the pile of shame so I could start a new project with these ships.

    The books highlighted at the back are; Rod Langton's Rigging Guide, Fleet Battle and Blockade, Chatham Pictorial Histories and Nelson's Navy, The Ships, Men and Organisation 1793-1815, Brian Lavery.

      hi jj just wanted tio know how you sealed and varnished the paint on your navy ?

    • @JJsWargames
      @JJsWargames  3 роки тому

      @@absodell5872 Hi, I generally varnish the models, in an acrylic car lacquer, which like the primers are generally of a higher spec than the model spray varnishes, but you still have to make sure you spray in a warm environment with low humidity and in a well ventilated space or better, out doors to avoid breathing the stuff or getting it misted. As an alternative I will use Vallejo Matt varnish mixed 50:50 with water. Cheers JJ

    Mate those paint jobs are absolutely fantastic, do you have any guides on how you did them?

    • @JJsWargames
      @JJsWargames  2 роки тому

      Hi and thank you, glad you like them. I haven’t produced a guide as yet as there are several good painting demos around on UA-cam and I figured the colour selections I have suggested would enable most folks to get started. I’m a bit full on with stuff at the moment, but when I get some time I will see if I can put a PDF tutorial together which I will post on the blog. JJ

    Beautiful models. Are you using the rigging method in the Langton book? The Warlord Black Seas rules include a rigging guide but I also have used the Langton method for the 1/1200 models.

    • @JJsWargames
      @JJsWargames  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Eric, thank you. Yes I am a bit long in the tooth and am grateful to Rod Langton showing me how he rigged his models, and so I have simply carried on the same method with these models. I am putting a tutorial together and will be posting it on the blog in the next week or two.

    what should i PAINT THE GUN PORT WITH and what blue for the bow

    • @JJsWargames
      @JJsWargames  3 роки тому

      The gun ports are the same black-grey that is used on the hull with red on the edges as used on the inside of the bulwarks and on some of the gun trucks. I use Dark Prussian and Prussian Blue highlights on the bow.

      @@JJsWargames what red exactly and I can't find any specifically light grey car primers also do you think ill be able to use agrax to do the windows of the stern gallery kind regards Abs

    • @JJsWargames
      @JJsWargames  3 роки тому

      The base coast red I would use in Vallejo Black Red and highlight either with Flat Red, Carmine Red or Vermillion depending on how bright you want it. I tend to vary what I do so that each model is slightly different. As far a primer is concerned I recommend what I can get in the UK which is Halfords acrylic grey car primer, as car paints and lacquers are generally superior to model paints designed to do the same job. So either go for an equivalent acrylic grey primer or use one of the model paint options such as Army Painter for example. I use Agrax Earth wash on my stern galleries and they highlight very well. Hope that helps.

    What size do you use on the acrylic bases?

    • @JJsWargames

      The ship bases were designed by me to protect the stern and bowsprit of the different sizes of model. You will find links for each size of base to Fluid3D at the bottom of this post on JJ’s Wargames

    wow, your work is amazing. what are those ratlines made of? is that clear plastic? Trying to decide if I want to get these ships

    • @JJsWargames

      Robert Robel Hi Robert, thank you, yes the ratlines are supplied with the models, printed on plastic, which you simply cut to shape and glue in place.
