For clarity; KRS said he wasn’t doing any major event such as BET. So he never said he wouldn’t do any of them, however he selected venues and situations that allowed him to stand on business.

I'm surprised that people get annoyed, upset, surprised by Jay-Z actions. The dude is a proud capitalist, I know he has at times cosplayed as a black power representative who wants to help his people, and inspire through black excellence (god I hate that title). However if you are a capitalist to the level that Jay-Z is you can't play both roles, there is going to come a time when your morals and integrity are going to be in conflict with your pursuit of riches, If you are a capitalist with vast amounts of wealth then people are going to be exploited, those people are always poor. People need to stop investing so much in this man because he is not going to save us and just accept who he is and who he has always been.........you make your mind up who you believe that man is. He did what he wanted to do and it has nothing to do with race, or selling out because that mf is rich. Jay-Z in many regards has transcended past Hip-Hop. He is in an elite club with Warren Buffet and the Obamas. He has been business partners with major corporations Samsung, NFL, and Bacardi. He won't show up for a museum exhibition dedicated to Hip-Hop, but will have an entire library dedicated to himself. He won't celebrate something that is bigger than himself (Hip-Hop 50, 50 years of Hip Hop performances and events), and doesn't want to perform with the legends that came before him, but will show up for the Academy Awards to receive a lifetime achievement award and spit his 80+ verse at the very same show. Act like he is riding with Kaepernick to work for the NFL and perform for Tom Brady. Shawn Carter put elitism and commerce before culture long ago!
