My prayers and condolences go out to his family and everyone affected within this tragedy 💙🙏
This is just the
Vid that someone reacted to it for
same
as a former ride operator at sixflags, who worked on the ride acrophobia , when we did seat checks upon every ride.. we were taught to push the harness down as snug as possible to insure maximum protection, not to mention there was a seatbelt that came up thru the legs to latch with the shoulder harness.... the kid in this clip with the checkered shirt seems to have a skinny build and can obviously fit quite well in his seat... the problem im having watching this is... his harness isnt evn against his chest, or is it touching the lip that is suppose to act like a bar to keep him from sliding out..... if he seriously wanted to get out, he could easly slide out from under the harness... PSA for riders, no matter th ride you get on.. if a bar or latch is designed to rest against your chest or lap... make sure it does.. do not leave space whenever possble.. the ride operator can get a green light to go, and you can still not be properly secured.. prayers to the family of that terrible tragedy ...
I think that's what bugs me the most.... Knowing what we've seen now makes me feel very uncomfortable. I hope the investigation brings change to the industry, because something just isn't fitting right with that seat and strapping device. I'll let the investigators make their judgments though... I hope I'm wrong.
It is very tragic what happened to that boy. 💜 It seemed like it could have been prevented.. Even if it meant not letting him on the ride... Seeing this I also noticed the checkered shirt guy had to readjust after it stopped to push himself back into the chair.... Maybe the harness should have been tighter on everyone.. the lack of seat belt bugs me as well as those other factors... so sad.
May he rest in peace 🙏💜💙
Yea, I didn't notice any belt to latch the harness. If there was one, it could have kept Tyre from slipping off. No doubt it wouldn't feel good, but at least he's still be here. I bet they'll install them now if there isn't any.
Too much space/gap to move around in
Tony, do you think it was the forces behind the braking that was too much for Tyree to hold himself in that space? No doubt he would have felt himself slipping as it tilted at the top
Wow. That is high up there. I cant imagine the fear that boy went through. It seem like a solid ride. The drop is quick and it looks safe. I can understand why no one seemed alarmed that day. He just needed to be secured and he wasn’t .
I have never been on a ride like that but if that kid was holding onto those handles would that not of helped him?
He didn’t fall from the top it was around 50 feet
@@crystalhopson8927 He fell after the ride went down. Before it ends the ride breaks to slow down the descent. Because the boy was overweight and the shoulder restraints weren't able to close completely(and also the designer not adding an extre seatbelt between the legs), when the ride hit the breaks the force cause the boy to slide under the restraints and fall to his death. It also doesn't help that the seats also tilts forward.
He didn't need to be secured. It wouldn't. It didn't fit him period. And he was way over the weight limit. And without a guarantee that this won't happen again I say tear the mf down.
If you look at this video the two kids riding up there talking they don’t look that damn secure especially the guy to the left of him there’s a big O gap right there even though it’s down it looks like you could slip out why isn’t there a seatbelt
Can u imagine the panic n fear Tyree must of felt while being up there for long 😥😥 poor baby :( rip youngin
That’s what I was thinking. The video really gave us a look into what he saw/experienced in his last moments. Poor baby boy.
@@katierose7906 I thought the same. His last images. I was anxious about the view from here… imagine in that moment for him. 🙏
I can't even fathom the terror he experienced. It's so heartbreaking.
I know so scary even with a harness on I'll be screaming so loud I'm ready to get off.
@@katierose7906 I agree. Just looking down from that height while being fastened into the seat well would have made me freak out. I can't imagine how he felt when he knew that the harness was not holding him correctly.
at 5:12 when the seat tilts, you can easily see why that poor 14 yr old boy slipped out! Just knowing that he felt in danger once he reached the top and said to his friends :"if i don't make it out alive tell my mom and dad that i love them" is heartbreaking!!! I did one drop with my kids at a fair. The drop was 25 ft high and as we reached the top: I wanted out and regretted my decision but had to come down to get off....so I felt a bit of the same panic this boy did and I can tell you it's horrible to be stuck there with no way to tell the attendant that something is not going right! rip :.-(
He slipped out either right before or as soon as the ride slowed down
@@brodie5878 my man! You’re a LP soldier!!? Such a coincidence that I am one too!!!
Clearly his retrain didn’t come down smh idk how They let him go on and let this ride go on smh sad lost feel his Pain his parents I always pass them rides never wanted to get on none of them
@@dakingltroyproductofdade3579 what bothers me most is the kid in the checkered shirt here also has a gap that looks like he could slip through too, if he moved the wrong way... Knowing what we know now, seeing people on this ride makes me nauseous
@@teenat7044 I noticed that too, it should have been down lower than that
If you say "it's pretty up here" on a drop tower you're at least sub-conciously terrified. Or maybe that's just me
No doubt. That and "wow, this is a pretty view" too lol.
Facts!!🤣🤣
Or it really is pretty. The view. I wouldn't be scared of this ride. I'm more scared of roller coasters that go upside down that I ride with my brother
RIP Tyre. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I love how they leave you at the top for _just_ long enough for your nervous anticipation to relax a little into enjoying the view.... then voooom! 😲
Does this tower have a fully-automated ride cycle or can the ride ops hold you at the top for a few extra seconds of terror (like they can on some flat rides)?
Yes .... the operators have full control over the experience. They leave some ppl sitting there for over a minute before the drop.
Judging by many of these Videos, The Ride Operators Joke around, Stand around, I've yet to see any actually check Riders to make sure they are safe, secured and Locked In. 😡😖👎
I saw another video of Orlando Free Fall Operators Titlting the 30 seat gondola before they even reached the Top. As though they were messing with them.
None of this was or is Cool and There's a reason why ICON PARK has no more Free Fall Attraction.
Bad All around. Especially the Tragic Death ofMr. Tyre Sampson. 😡👎
May His Memory be Eternal. ✝️🙏❤️😥☝️
I think the reason it's so much more intense than Zumanjaro or Lex is because those have magnetic trims engaging almost the entire way down the tower (and progressively adding more as you get lower), so you're never really fully free-falling. This one seems like it lets you actually free-fall most of the way and then brakes hard at the end.
The hard jerk at the end is what threw the kid out of his seat poor baby the other version seems way safer tho they could slow it down
@@tiffanyv1610 yo i was coming to say the same thing. That brake is what made all that break open!
Wouldn't be surprised to see this demolished within a year now...
@@b8rst372 it was more the operators fault, not the ride
@@W0rld0fC4rz would you still go on it?
@@jacksonj-wk8cl definitely, I love drop towers
@@W0rld0fC4rz me too
@@jacksonj-wk8cl good question???
All though it fully appears to be operator error, Tyre might've been alive if the drop tower had seatbelts.
My condolences go out to those involved.
it also tilted once your to the top so he basically was dumped out of his chair 😲
@@crystal25288 he didn’t fall from the top, he fell just as it was about to slow down, closer to the bottom, but still too high for him not to be harmed
He fell 14 story’s tho
Maybe if it had clicking restraints but this uses hydraulic
I read the maker of this ride advocated against adding seatbelts.
"I feel like so many people who ride this would have like a heart attack---" *DROP*
Definitely me! Or anxiety or panic attack!!!
I think I would have passed out from that height like that knowing that I was going to plummet down. It's one thing to be in a roller coaster that is high up, but a free fall like that. HELL NO!
My favorite thing about drop tower rides is the air that follows after the gondola reaches the ground. Like a whirlwind of adrenaline, excitement and terror
This ones probably the best for that. I rode it last weekend and it was completely insane! should definitely be a bucket list ride!
@@brianleach1866 did not age well at all

My heart was pounding just watching this video and anticipating the drop.
The quantity of uploads lately has been awesome
and they've been dope
thanks! I probably wont be able to keep this up as I dive more deeply into the next Problematic Coasters video but I'm trying what I can for now!
@@ElToroRyan You should do a problematic coasters episode on Avalanche Run/Disaster Transport. It seems to have had... unique problems.
Seeing this from a POV I WOULD NEVER GET OBNN A RIDE SO HIGH UP! My heart was skipping beats just looking down on the video 😱😱😱
I was there in October and wish it could have been fully built back then. I ride Drop of Doom and feel that rides freaky cause if you're at the top when Superman goes up it sways the whole tower side to side. I can only imagine being another 15-20 feet higher facing downward... UFFF 🔥🔥
Lex Luthor Drop of Doom goes about 7 feet taller than this. The top of the 10th ride piece is 393 feet in the air. The rest is the mechanism small section above the 10th tower piece. And then the massive 30+ foot topper piece on top to make it 430 feet. The structure's height shouldn't count for drop towers, since then the drop tower on Kingda Ka would then be able to be advertised as 456 feet tall.
At 3:11 is the same beanie guy that was working that night the kid ejected from his seat.
Yeah I noticed that. I also feel bad from him too. No matter what the outcome is.
Yeah and before seeing that guy I heard a family voice from the accident saying “ off we go “ at 3:10 or 3:09
That's a good-looking ride at night. Too bad about the fatality.
What an eerie video to watch after the accident. Such a shame on every level.
The fact that he didn’t drop the camera is almost as insane as the drop tower
It's strapped to his wrist.
I was wondering the same ?!
@@sdoogan90 Yeah, I figured he had to have it strapped on. That kind of force would have knocked it out of his hand pretty easily.
I got recommended this after the fatal accident that happened 😬
Best conversation on a lift of all time
My heart is beating just from watching (4:35)!!! Back then I rode everywhere, now I've gotten too scared (or more mature)! 😬 R.I.P. Tyree! 🙏🕯️🕊️
just watched this yesterday and the news came today. heartbreaking.
RIP to the 14 year old boy Tyre Sampson who fell to his death over 70 ft high on this ride march of 2022. The ride's weight limit was 286 lbs. well Tyre was 383 lbs. The poor boy knew something was wrong and started panicking as soon as it started going up. He was sitting next to two of his best friends and said to them something like: "If I don't make it down, safely, please tell my momma and daddy i love them.". The ride also was NOWHERE near safe in the first place. According to investigations, the ride only had PLASTIC push into place harnesses to keep you safe. And the harnesses were supposed to lock in at the rider's legs. It couldn't reach Tyre's legs, so it was like when you slide a over the shoulders harness over yourself on a rollercoaster before they come and lock each of them in place. So obviously when at the top, the ride tilted forward before dropping, as it was intended and manufactured to do, and the harness probably slid up, causing him to fall. I can't imagine how scared he was knowing he might not get off of this, consciously, that is. Also, a woman riding was worried about the safety of her and the riders and said something like: "there isn't any belts or anything else to keep us safe?!" And the operator said something like: "there ain't no seatbelts." Again, RIP to the poor, poor Tyre Sampson. 😞 🪦
I don’t have like a traditional fear of heights (I’m fine with planes), but even just WATCHING this triggers my fear of heights so elegantly. I have no idea how y’all didn’t lose your lunches from that 😅 but I’m glad you got to enjoy it!
I could never get on this My heart just dropped thanks for sharing.
Me, as well.
Danm I new I would never ride that now with the death I never will
I'm a local here and just got off This for the first time. It is significantly more intense than Falcons Fury at BG.... I lost my breath about 1/4th of the way down and realized half way down that I still couldn't breathe. Lol. This was more intense than Top Thrill Dragster. I've never gotten off of a ride physically shaking before, but this thing was absolutely nuts and I can't wait to do it again. Lol. I wish they had an annual pass sort of thing. I drive Uber here in Orlando throughout all the theme parks and the touristy area. I live right down the road, so it would be a nice little night cap at the end of my driving after all of the parks close. So glad to have this beast in my city. ✌️💙☯️🤝
Looks terrifying that poor kid 🙏💔
you can see at 3:09 it’s the same dude with the beanie that was there when tyre died
Maybe it's him maybe it's not
Just watching this made my hands sweaty.
This is what the kid seen before slipping out! Very poor safety system!
he was on the ride the whole time until the ride stopped hard then he fell out 20-30 or so feet
He actually fell out when it stopped so he was lower. When it was going down he went up. He slipped out when it stopped because his harness was only half way down because he is so big
The tallest skyscraper in Orlando is 441 feet, so this has to look amazing.
No matter how amazing it looks, someone died from that height on this ride

When I rode I was weirded out by the operators standing inside the ride area.
Can you explain the block sections on this ride
I think the weight of the gondola makes these more intense than Zumanjaro/Lex Luthor. Looks like KI/KD Drop Zone on crack
It's great too because the Gondola doesn't completely stop at the top either before you're dropped. It's still slowly inching up like a Larson drop tower which makes the freefall so much more surprising!
I don't think the weight would change anything. Other than the forces needed to stop/lift it.
His last view was beautiful that he got to see..
R.I.P young man..
The one in Hansa park which was the previous record holder isn't that much smaller, but the tilting seats almost made me crap my pants
Say goodbye to that ride now!
It's doing it pretty good justice I like drop rides but this is intimidating
Edit: it's not that much taller than the Lex Luthor one at Magic Mountain and I loved that it's insane because it's up in the hills already
It's 7 feet shorter than Lex Luthor. 393 feet at the drop of the ride
@@coastersandcosplays you are Wrong! Free fall is the tallest in the world. And it sits at 440ft not 393
@@ducks9190 nope, the tower itself is 430 at the top of the decoration. The final piece of the ride track segments stands 393.5 feet up
He saw this before he fell....and he knew that something was wrong.😥
I was on a similar ride. The scariest part is when the latch releases with a large clank and drops you. LOL
Good thing you got a chance to ride it, this ride will never operate again.
Yeah, cuz it’s not safe. Good thing that it closed down
@@babymeli.it really wasn’t the rides fault. The boneheaded operators let somebody who was above the rides restrictions get on the ride.
I’m going to Universal in June so I hope to go to ICON park to ride this while I’m there
Edit: After hearing about the accident on the tower, and the lack of care and attention from ICON park and Slingshot Group when someone’s *life* is taken on their ride, I would urge people not to ride any of these rides at ICON park until further details come out.
Yeah no
The ride is closed so you wouldn't be able to.

Sucks, I was just in Fl vacationing and credit whoring back in July. Def woulda done this if it was open. Hopefully we’ll be back down there in 2023. Focusing on the Northeast and rest of the Midwest this year.

saaaaaame
This vid made me jump at the drop scene. Glad I never will ride it tho the view is interesting & the lights on the tower are kook.
A 14 year old boy just fell from this tonight and died.rest in peace young man.
Heights don't bother me in the least on roller coasters. I don't mind climbing ladders or being on lifts, even 50 feet up. But I really don't enjoy drop towers for some reason.
Same, 300 ft on a coaster no problem. A 200 ft drop ride I'm like eh.
I pray this ride comes down, and the family of the 14 year old boy gets every dime from the owners who made this crazy ride. Poor 14 year old Tyree, barley a teenager, had a bright years waiting for him, had to die in such a horrible way. Many prayers goes out to the family, and his friends.
No reason to tear the ride down, the whole incident was on the operators
@@user25 there no point. Ride is unsafe
The ride is safe, the operators didn’t secure him the right way, they let him get on it without checking that he was a little over the weight limit. But the ride is safe , they just didn’t follow the guidelines. The operator should’ve make sure he was secured , that’s who to blame
Rest in heaven Tyree
I don't see any center belt to lock onto the harness. No wonder why Tyre slipped under. Nice view from up there, though. I could probably handle it if it came down as slow as it went up, lol.
He also didn't even complain bout it not latching or whatever
The tilt is insane 😮😮😮
So what would be better? Day rides or night rides? Going to be in Orlando in a few days...
I'd say a night ride!
Night rides, all the way! Particularly on the Star Flyer.

I had a GoPro mounted to my wrist!
Who invented this ride? This ride is cruel and I never been on. I’ve been on The Hollywood tower of terror and that ride wasn’t scary at all. You would think for a ride that reaches 430 feet high, there would be seatbelts and safety harnesses left and right. I hope they make drastic changes or better yet demolish the ride in memory of the fallen teenager. I cannot imagine the fear he went through. He just wanted to be with his friends.
It wasn’t the ride’s fault, the operators were too bone headed to notice that he didn’t fit in the restraints
Looking at this ride just makes me feel scared of it, lmao I could imagine myself being on there now being on the top makes you think. 😄
Was able to ride this on Wednesday. Right before marathoning Mako with a few of the coaster idiots. That made my day after some horrible news.

as a person who rode everything there the drop tower was the most intense out of everything there, then again i rode that before the sling shot so maybe i just had more adrenaline running through me for the slingshot, its just the way that it tilts though that is so scary. luckily the guy was super nice and decided to give me and my friend a countdown before the tilt, it was wild though
If only the drop was taller than Lex Luthor or Zumanjaro... They chose to only build the drop portion 393 feet and missed the tallest drop tower record by 22 feet
