@InSomnia_catcher you're right, this feels more like a mainstream song which isn't a bad thing but its not what you immediately think of when you think Dreamcatcher Raising is the type of track you think of as a Dreamcatcher single OOTD is a good song but it feels like something you'd find on a B side.
for me with DC I always remembered whoever from DC once said.. their song may not be liked by everyone, but they always have a song for everyone. That line was the whole truth.. their B-sides made all their albums worth buying. Never have i ever found any other group made an album like they did. I never went to any other artist albums and think "this should be the title track..". nope, just DC. thats how good they are at making music.
Shattered is my fave because it's so different. It's so hard to explain but it grabbed me by my throat and it's not letting me go. There's something so alluring, so enchanting with the lyrics and vocals that I can't look at away. It's about Medusa turning them into stones. The more I listened to it the more I discovered new things about it. Fave along with Rising.
I belive it is both 'Villains' and 'Versus Villains' as in 'VillainS' the V and S are capatalised to make the VS (Versus) part Shatter and OOTD took time to grow on me but now love all songs on this album! Shatter is such an experience This album has so much lore behind it also that you can easily spend a few hours just reading everything!
Can you imagine We Are Young at a concert tho after Silent Night? Or Reason? The audience singing the "WOOOOH" song with them! I didn't like this album at all on first listen, but after listening to it more and looking further into the ARG thing and the story (and having just received my album book), I love it!
For the story of the title track to even work OOTD absolutely had to be more of a main stream sounding song, even though there aren't really many if any girl groups that would still sound like it. When you're calling out the false image brag tracks you kind of have to sound like one in the process. There usual sound just wouldn't work for that.
At first listen, this album honestly not up there with DC standards. But after listening it with my IEM during workout, this album is amazing. Its so fast paced, so up beat, really good to listening it while doing workout or wanna stay up at night lol. Rising is my favorite, it feels so full, especially with JiU vocals, gosh she really suits rock sound i cant even deny it.

Me too, but I realized the reason why I was let down at first is because I went in with the expectation that it is going to have that signature DC sound and progression, but they went with a different approach so it was not what I expected. But honestly it sounds really good, just not what you expect DC music to sound like.

yea i think they really focusing the album for tours,lots of english on chorus on all tracks to sing along,choreo for OOTD + Shatter already,Rising like Break the Wall-esk just singing while standing,We are Young for encore,its quite perfect lol
also i kinda like how ahead of the curve dc is with their more retro/throwback kinda tracks. Like we all know theres a serious y2k fever happening in pop culture rn so a lot of kpop drawing inspo from early 2000's rnb, that casual and laid back feel. meanwhile dc going all in on that 2010's dance pop is kinda so fun. Ik a lot of people view this era of music as shallow and repetitive but it always had a soft spot for me and always felt like a tame younger cousin of the more complex EDM and dubstep that is out there
I actually have several gripes with the song structure of Shatter, but the sound and vocal delivery bullseye my music preferences so perfectly that I can't help but like it anyway. That's how you know Deukae is next level: even when the producers make some odd choices, the result still ends up being awesome.
For me this was the slowest hitting album by DC. I mean OOTD and Shatter took me 30+ listen before they have solidified their position as some of the most awesome songs in their discography. Rising took a bit less. And I need We are young live as a concert experience.
