Accents in the UK | British Accent Rewire Workshop

Today we’ll explore the secret ingredient behind every British accent... and by the end of this session, you’ll discover how even celebrities like Renée Zellweger, Maryl Streep and Robert Downey Jr mastered it in films like Bridget Jones, Sherlock Holmes and The Iron Lady. We`ll talk about the accents around the UK and their signature sounds, we’ll talk about the glottal stop, flap t, rhotic and non rhotic accents. We’ll basically study the DNA of the British accent: the schwa sound, we’ll have practical exercises and you’ll learn everything about the Modern British RP accent? What’s it? How to learn it faster? We’ll cover it all today.

Very informative, thank you Roy. As you said, the main issue for the non-native speakers of English like myself, is the unintended mixing of different accents. It takes a considerable amount of exposure to learn to HEAR the nuances, which are obvious to native speakers.
