While I agree with most of your comments, I have a very different interpretation of the differences in the transformation sequences in the first and second movies (SPOILERS AHEAD): I've personally always felt that the reason their transformations are so different is because of their attitudes towards them. In the first film, Ginger really embraces her transformation and kind of encourages it; the only scene we really see her fighting it in any way is when she attempts to remove her tail. Meanwhile, in the second movie we can deduce from it being winter that Brigette had been on the run for anywhere between a few months to a few years, fighting her transformation every day of that time by dosing with the monkshood, cutting off parts of herself when she couldn't, basically actively trying to prevent it from occurring. I think this ultimately is what makes her transformation more stunted and more ugly to witness as compared to Ginger's. And in a way, I think that this also keeps in line with the lycanthropy-as-puberty/sexuality metaphor - in the real world, if you try to resist growing up and becoming a woman by some method (e.g. starving yourself to prevent your body from maturing/avoid having a period) if/when you stop fighting it your body won't necessarily snap back and go through everything in the same way it would have had you not abused it during that time.
And we never see Emily Perkin's bum, so maybe she did grow a tail ;)

I remember seeing all three films. There are two things that bothered me the most about them:
    1) Even nearly ten years later there has been no other main female werewolf in a film.
    2) The inconsistencies regarding werewolfism. In part 2 the stuff with the sudden no cure, since that begs the question why werewolves aren't ruling the world, and how different the transformation in part 3 suddenly was.

I absolutely adored the first movie. Most intense werewolf movie ever.

I remember seeing the first Ginger Snaps movie whenI was about 14. It's one of my favorite werewolf/horror movies. In my humble opinion, it still holds up. I wish they hadn't made sequels because I loved how the first one ended and they could've let the audience imagine what happened to Bridget after that instead of making a less memorable sequel. Great review as usual!

I watched all three of these films and I have to say like you I loved the first because of many of the reasons you bring up like the messages of change, puberty and angst and how it ties into lycanthropy but mostly because of how dark and gritty it is. This is not the kind of werewolf you want to be like as you mention Teen Wolf. Thought the sequel was entertaining but frustrating, and I disliked the third installment. all in all I will be purchasing ginger snaps. Please do a video on Teen Wolf

The beast that is following Bridgette in the second movie is the guy Ginger had sex with & infected in the first movie. I'm honestly shocked you didn't pick up on that. It was made clear he was changing too & in the second movie Ghost asks where it came from to which Bridgette replies "the suburbs".

@@Princess_Weekes I agree with your review/opinion for the 3rd movie. It doesn't explain anything about how it started. It's just the 1st movie in a Colonial setting.

I'm pretty sure that the filmmakers said the the wolf in 2 was a random werewolf that just caught Bridgette's scent.

I remember watching it a long time ago when i was 13 or 14 i think. I also watched it with my older sister, all 3 movies. We would always compare each other to Bridget and Ginger lol. I gotta say though that, i like the first one the most. It had such a 90's feel to it and everything about it was good. The transformation process, the relationship between the 2 sisters and then the ending which was so sad.

I loved the first movie, I barely remember the second film or the 3rd film. I adored Ginger's misanthropy and dark humor.
