Reading Sanderson's world building feels like an investment of time and energy that truly pays off in the end for me. Once I had read all those pages and pages and pages of world building (my least favorite part of reading any book), I realized I was utterly transported into an entirely new universe filled with characters I'd fallen in love with and a good understanding of a magic system that was super exciting and unique. Book 3 in the Mistborn trilogy in particular had me in literal full blown tears at the end. So satisfying, and so worth the energy.

Clockwork Prince is my absolute favorite book ever and has been for almost ten years since I read them. Part of it I’m sure is the nostalgia because I read them for the first time at around age 14, but every time I reread, it gives me all the same feelings. I’d recommend reading the next one soon to not forget the world if you did between the first two. Cassandra Clare is the queen of stunning conclusions to a series and also ripping out hearts
I read the first book a couple of days ago and i felt so underwhelmed? I felt like nothing was happening plot wise. It was boring and too white (lol). I was only getting vibes and no actual action. The stakes weren't really that high and the characters had so much potential which was never really discovered. The book felt incomplete with a lot of potential. But i really want to love the Shadowhunters universe. I do wish that there was more plot in the first book so if that's not the case with the 2nd one should I still continue reading on the series ?
@@lavanyaagrawal8580 I loved every book in the series, personally, but Clockwork Angel was my least favorite of the three. Most people would probably say the third one is their favorite, and it's a close second for me, but Clockwork Prince is my favorite. I would definitely recommend continuing. Action will pick up. Did you read The Mortal Instruments first? Or at least the first 3? Publication order is probably the best way to read them. I'm rereading City of Heavenly Fire (book 6) and it is so much more impactful with the knowledge of The Infernal Devices. So were books 4 & 5. I will say, Cassandra Clare's writing and plots get so much better the further along she goes. You can tell a huge difference as The Mortal Instruments goes from book 1 to book 6. The next two series and the side-along books are absolutely insanely good.
@@michellelangner2033 oh that's great to know that it gets more fast paced. And no, i didn't read the mortal instruments first because almost everywhere, people were saying that Cassandra Clare's writing in the Infernal Devices in much better. Plus since, the infernal devices *_is_* supposed to be a prequel and only has three books, i thought it better to read it before diving into a 6 books series.
@@lavanyaagrawal8580 It won't mess anything up, and will probably be better going in to the last 3 books in The Mortal Instruments. For some people, there's a lot of "You have to get through this plot to get to the good stuff" with The Mortal Instruments, but I still loved it. If you do read City of Bones and you get to a plot twist that makes you want to stop reading, it's worth pushing through. Things are not always as they seem. I do think you'd need to read The Mortal Instruments next to read the other two series, especially The Dark Artifices. Once past The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments, publication order is key to understanding everything. The first two series can be taken generally in any order.

I'm so excited for you to pick up the third mortal instrument! Definitely better reading them before the infernal devices cause there is a tiny spoiler at the end of that series.
Love your choice of music during the reading montages! Thought it fit so perfectly for the fantasy theme of the vid!
P.S. I'm reading Billy Summers cuz of your rating/recommendation on it!

Haley,
I have a couple book recommendations that aren’t extremely popular right now:
1- The Iron Widow (halfway through this and loving it more than I even thought)
2- Priory of an Orange Tree (have yet to read since I’m saving it for my beach summer book but I’ve heard great things about it)
