Every spring the walleyes come into Pikes Bay on Lake Vermilion for the spawn. We found all our fish in about 5 feet of water. The bite was hot, but it only lasts a couple weeks, so you need to be out there while the fish are there.

It's been years since I've gone after waleye, and I always drift trolled canoe. Many good memories as a kid on that lake N of Cook. My son (5) is an aspiring fishermen, and we learned a few good things from this episode. I'll definitely be bleading them out as well, good tip. Love the down to earth content.

I really appreciate the comment. I normally don't target walleye, so I just follow Dennis's lead. He knows this lake well and how to fish it. I hope your son enjoys fishing as much as we do!

I sure wish they were biting like that the other night but I was able to catch a new species of fish with my spinners and that was awesome! Also, you know my motto "Bonk and Bleed!"

This is an amazing video my Man! That’s what I call a pile of catches, he was right I can see a big difference on the bleed meat, you said the time of the year matter? I hope that’s what happening with the catfish here in my area 😉

Thanks Fernando. Yes, the time of the year make a big difference. The walleye come into this bay in the spring to spawn, so they are just loaded in there. Then most of them head back out into the big part of the lake where they are harder to find.

Multi species! Your FIL showed you how to do it 😁 Looked like a great weekend despite the rain cutting it short. 👍

Whenever I want to catch a walleye, he's the guy I go to. I figure if I do that once a year, I will get my fill of walleyes.

Some nice eater Walleyes and some dandy Smallies! I've caught tons of Walleyes, but never under a bobber. That was an enjoyable video.

I'm not much of a walleye fisherman, so I just follow the lead of my Father-in-law, who usually uses a slip bobber with leaches. Obviously it works, so I won't argue with him. I accidentally catch walleye from time to time on a spinnerbait too.

That's like a shootin' fish in a barrel trip with a few other species thrown in for good measure and a Slam 👀🎣!!

It helps when you have someone who's fished there his while life and knows exactly what to do. I sure enjoyed it!

I think that’s the most fish I’ve seen you catch. Live bait = more fish, in my opinion. Nice smallmouths!

Haha, I think you're right. My wife always tells me the same thing.. "you always catch more with live bait." I know its true, its just a pain to find live bait, and then to keep it alive.

That first night was so beautiful out. Too bad it didn't last more than a day. We had a good time. I will probably make that an annual trip.

Thought I recognized your boat, we had to yell at you for cutting between us and shore just around the corner from thee million dollar rock. Show some curtesy and go around, instead of cutting over another fisherman’s cork set up next time.

Hi Stephen. Sorry about that. I wanted to go around you. My father in law insisted I cut through there. I didn't see your bobber in front of us until it was too late. It won't happen again.

That might be the only time you see me catching that many walleyes. I appreciate you stopping by.
