I like Keegan's sense of humor. You two compliment each other well. While I don't like the term "power couple" I love how you both have created your own paths and are each thriving in them. A few days ago I saw Keegan's Tedx Talk for the first time....Well done!!!
Most of Rotterdam was bombed during WWII and was rebuilt new so there is not very many historic places to see. You should have driven to Kinderdijk (30-minute drive SE of Rotterdam) to see the largest collection of windmills in one place in The Netherlands if you wanted to see something "touristy."
It's like Coventry in the UK. You did as you say pass the town hall, but the remaining okd buildings like the church and old harbour, you've missed. And the modern architecturen like Erasmus Bridge, Cube Houses, ... You also missed. But you gotta love the modern urbanism of Rotterdam, like Coventry.
2.6 square km of the city centre was totally wiped off the map. Had Keegan read up on some history perhaps his comments would not have been so very unkind.
Cute to catch Keegan expressing his love for you. Thanks for sharing this small part of your trip with us. Keegan had me in stitches when he said Hull because I heard hole. Laughed when I realized what he had been saying. See you tomorrow.
Another cute one! We cycled from Amsterdam to Bruges; the smaller villages are really lovely. I love their way of life ❤ and Keegan is such a teddy bear 🧸 I love when you soft soap! 😊
Thanks guys, If I'm not mistaken, Rotterdam is Europe's largest port and I think it's also the financial center of the Netherlands. Anyway, thanks for the vlog. Looks like you all had a great time there.
I LOVE the closed captioning. Some of the words/phrases crack me up. At the end of the vlog you said that "we just went for a dip" and it said "d%ck" at the beginning Keegan said that a building was a hotel and somehow, it came out as" I think it's a Nutella"🤣🤣🤣
I've noticed the cc doesn't understand the British accent any better than I do. "We just went for a d*ck" kinda got my attention (since I'm gay too.) LOL
Fun tour of Rotterdam...(it's mostly new architecture so not much 'visual history'). Love the American (or as we say, 'Meri-can') accents. (Do we REALLY sound like that? Yikes!!!) Have a great holiday!
Cycling in the Netherlands compared by the UK is a totally different experience - bikes take priority over cars so very much safer. The Natural History Museum at Lieden is well worth a visit and a trip out on the lakes/canals. I've been looking at a number of holidays in the The Netherlands - my fav at the moment is to cycle from Amsterdam to Bruges and stay in a barge that shadows you as you cycle.
Joel, you and Keegan are so cute together. Thanks for taking us along. When you were in Rotterdam you missed out on seeing Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk a beautiful church built in 1499. That waffle looks so good. I hope you two had fun in Netherlands. Have a great day, Joel.
The only thing I know about Rotterdam is the Cube Houses. I imagine you would have liked to have seen those if you had known about them prior, I'd certainly like to!
Wow, you shopped at the village of Boxtel. 😉 That's so nearby. And then to the direct other side of Eindhoven (which is where I live) to Westerhoven (of all places 🤪😀). Did you know Center Parcs is a Dutch invention? 🙃 Rotterdam really has it's nice places, but you have to know where to go... and not to the actual city centre. 😅
I have been to Rotterdam twice.... it has some great museums there!! (which I love seeing) One had a wonderful Dali exhibit in 2004 that I got to see. I read that 7 priceless paintings were stolen from one of them around 2012! (and the mom of the thief burned them in her stove to protect her son! Picasso, Matisse, 2 Monet's, etc..)
Good for a laugh as always, especially when you bounce off each other.. cant say I've been anywhere where the shops were closed until midday, except for Anzac day here in Australia (our specific remembrance day) and even then, people are desperate when things open at 1pm... would never have thought Keegan as a bit shy.. Joel, whats the story behind Keegan's 'shop local' mantra?
Whoa you never heard of Rotterdam ? It's modern architecture is famous .. Its Delfshaven neighborhood is home to shopping along the canal and Pilgrim Fathers Church, where pilgrims worshiped before sailing to America .. There are lots of bars, pubs and night life .. The maritime Museum is interesting

For your information, the proper name is the Kingdom of the Netherlands or for short The Netherlands. Holland is a part of The Netherlands., like in the West of The Netherlands. On Mondays, most stores in The Netherlands are closed till noon, which is why there was not much going on in the inner city of Rotterdam..
I understand that Rotterdam was heavily bombed in WWII because it is a major port.. Most of the city is a re-build, very little surviving. Thank you for the video!
A shop being closed or having shorter hours on a Monday isn't that uncommon. I'm from Augusta, Georgia and worked in a Bridal Salon/Formal Wear Shop for several years. We kept longer hours on the weekends, but we were closed on Mondays. Sometimes we used Monday to order customer dresses and inventory, rearrange dresses on the floor or change the window displays. But always closed to the public.
You should have went to the cube houses. By the market house. Then got a speed boat taxi and went the the ss rotterdam an old liner. That a hotel. Brilliant. You missed out. Big time.

Enjoyed checking out the beginning of your trip, but sadly due to ridiculous amounts of fraud, I don't do anything financial on my technology, so Joel let me know if I can send you a check. Hope you have a wonderful time, see you when you get back.
You two should take a trip to the US on the East Coast during Halloween. You could go on hay rides, drink fresh apple cider (not the alcohol one), pick apples, and see all the decorations and the people dressed up. Just don't go to Salem Massachusetts on Halloween. It's too crazy there. Rhode Island is nice. I believe Taylor Swift has a house in that state too, or she did. Not sure if she sold it or not.

The Gunpowder Plot in 1605 was an attempt to assassinate King James I during the state opening of parliament on November 5th by blowing the place up with barrels of gunpowder hidden underneath the House of Lords. In celebration of the plots failure and that the King was safe the public were allowed to light bonfires, the following year it was decreed that an annual celebration be held on that date which was the beginning of the bonfire night we know today. It is also known as Guy Fawke's night, named after one of the conspirators arrested guarding the barrels of gunpowder and it became tradition that kids would build 'guys' - effigies made with old clothes stuffed with newspaper and fitted with a grotesque mask - which would be burnt atop a giant bonfire.
