moss Moss just keep doing what's best for you and your service dog, in best cases people stare because of curiosity and interest it's not something the public sees often. In other cases just ignore them they are uneducated/ignorant about service animals it's not your job to educate them although when you feel up to it, teaching those who don't understand is the only way they will learn. I wouldn't worry about coming off as hard or rude this is a serious matter, the health and safety of you and your dog comes first. Best of luck and love to you and your Chenoa!!!

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having this channel. Thanks to you I have been educated in the way of service dogs to the point that I can assist a few folks with legit dogs at the flea market where I have a stand. One of the other vendors has a great dane that is her service dog, his task is to help keep her from falling and acts as a cane of sorts. and yet another has a german shepard that is both for diabeties and eplipepsi --- I had asked the 2 questions and it opened up the conversation. patrons overheard us and we started educating! So thanks so much for sparking the fire to help the rest of us that care to also help educate others that don't know or think they know! You totally rock!!!

I have to say I just recently watched your videos and I have learned that a service dog is working and not distract or talk or pet a service dog, and ask the owner first and talk to the owner instead of the dog. and it makes perfect sense. your videos are very educational and I like them a lot now I know to teach my daughter distract a service dog. I saw the video of where you hit your head because max got distracted and I completely understand now and more educated on service dogs I love your videos
I had a Great Dane in my previous training group who was horrible when we went to target! I mean it, he was pulling and wasn’t listening and just acting terribly. I was shocked when they said that they had been practicing for 6 months!!! And, they had been to a mall. I was upset as there were other service dogs that were distracted! So, sometimes it’s a good thing to train together, and sometimes not. But, you seem to have had a much better experience!
I know this isn't a new video, but finally someone showed videos of how service dogs aren't perfect, they are alive and they aren't robots. In the media and movies they are portrayed as perfect and robotic almost and its frustrating dealing with people who only see those examples!!!
@@ServiceDogPaws yea that's the sad thing, the public expects perfection and many get mad if the dog isn't perfect 24/7. Tbh even after I "complete" training with my dog she will always be in training as I learn about new tools and skills that could be helpful and as I have more severe symptoms over time we will have to learn together how to handle and manage everything
@@ServiceDogPaws tbh I'm wanting to know what a "fully trained" service dog looks like since most dogs will always be learning something new over the years. Tbh I will eventually need a service dog specifically trained for me by someone else because some of my symptoms will get increasingly worse over time and I have no clue how to teach a dog I've lived with for 5 years that "randomly I sometimes won't be able to see or will have partial vision" like it confuses her when that occurs since her entire life I've been able to see and any vision issues I had weren't bad enough to require medical intervention...like that one stumps me on how to train an occasional disability like that.....especially since it's so random. Like the heat does alot of short term temporary blindness but that is resolvable in minutes (of cooling off or sleeping depending on cause) instead of weeks (with medical intervention required to avoid permanent lasting damage).
@@ambersmithpxt fully trained service dogs should require minimal guidance/corrections. Task reliably and be safe and mentally stable. Not posing a harm or risk to the public. And remaining under control at all times.
I have a sniffer dog (I know that it is nothing to do with this ) So my dog is called Milly and she doesn’t like being left alone and I get really scared about her when she’s left alone but I love max and Sam they are trained really well ♥️♥️
The ultimate test is spirit Halloween. I brought my sdit not even thinking about there being so many decorations that looked like they were gonna kill us lol. We were greeted by a 8-10ft moving and growling werewolf. He could care less about that and all the moving ones and noises. He startled over a stationary zombie baby in a crawling position. We walked past it a second time and he did great!
Could you make a video on all the commands and why you do them? And what the alerts he gives mean? I’ve been binge watching since yesterday and was wondering why he blocks sometimes and does the heel focus (or whatever it was). Thank you for educating me on what to do around a service dog too :)

Oh God you just suddenly started talking about Spirit and I was like "YAAASSS SAME!" That is my freaking childhood movie and I hate what they did with the girly children cartoon.
I have severe allergies asthma anxiety and depression meaning panic and anxiety attacks that result in tunnel vision among the normal hell that is associated with them. and I got a shelter dog in the spring. Instinctively she will paw at my leg if I’m feeling anxious until I pick her up and hug her and relentlessly lick my face if I start to get stuck in a depressed state. This morning a song came on And I started to slip and she jumped on my chest kicking my face until I turned the song off and took off the headphones. This isn’t something I trained her to do she just does it She’s pretty obedient and we’re working on leave it bc she tends to try and scare away people I fear and anyone who triggers any sort of panic. Even when I’m aware they’re there and she doesn’t stop. So after we get leave it down she’s very well behaved. what are your thoughts?
I’d like to take her need to yell at people or sounds I’d prefer to switch it to a “block” which she also does but not all the time. She tends to start barking run out and see who it is or if she can see them already then she’ll back up to my legs and sit there barking.
Obviously I don’t mean she’s good to go but I mean she would be my best choice rather than finding a new dog. The instinct is there so the training will be a lot of reinforcing what she already does

I disagree agree with you based upon the handler repeatedly and clearly say he's having a bad day. By your reckoning, all SDs who have bad days should only work in pet friendly places.
1) your post didn't indicate you knew more about Sam than this singular vid. 2) Target in particular is a good place to work on basics with distraction. I checked with the manager at my closest one if the is specific to her store and she said no. She said they appreciate it if you would introduce yourself plus start when the store is quiet or be in an area that is less busy. When you need to work on things when they are likely to get "squirrelly" (her term not mine), to let the manager on site know. They may suggest a specific section depending on what you plan on doing or have you come back later. My Target pulled out big stock cart, dropped brooms and buckets (not merchandise) and had a great time helping to acclimate my pup when things were quiet. 12 sets of keys clattering to the floor around the area at the same time was the best. We have planned a Halloween event were people in costume are going to pop up randomly. I find "pet friendly" places the hardest because of all the iltrained dogs. But then again, I'm training from a wheelchair and have no experience training while walking. Again, my perception is based only upon what I see here.

Service dogs aren’t pets under federal law. Also their is no such thing as therapy pets, pets and also therapy dogs are not allowed in non pet friendly places. If Sams owner petted max without permission it would be illegal but if she got permission to pet max it would not.

When my dog was still alive he would be able to say "I love you". Legit if you told him to say that he would bark it and it was so adorable.

SHe was making a joke. She is owner training him as well. Got him 3 weeks after I got Max. Both of them are shelter rescues

Fearless Kay126 stop is to completely halt the dog. Heel is to get them to stay close to their side or their heel.
