- Up for sale in our Tampa Showroom is a beautiful model of 1950' art and automotive construction, the 1959 Ford Thunderbird. With the rapid body change in 1958 to what was later called the "Square Bird", Ford also introduced the 352 CID V8 Interceptor engine which was capable of well over 300 horsepower from the factory. These impressive engines were there to change the way Thunderbirds were viewed across the country since the predecessors were mostly known for being small, and packing a V8 with the sole intention of competing against the Chevrolet Corvette. The 59 TBird needed a bigger engine, and stronger transmission to make up for the sudden growth spurt and overall style changes like the exterior trunk lid, which is sporting twin humps to show off the drastic design concept brought to life during the late 50's. The interior is a beautiful black and silver two-tone vinyl sport bucket seats, with the dash assembly still showing off the classic Thunderbird styling from before. The gauges are wrapped in chrome bezels and the dashboard lights really show off the styling of the 1950's better than any car on the road. The exterior is painted in a stunning black gloss paint job that flows from the outside and accentuates the dramatic styling of the body. When matched with the classic wheels and whitewall tires, this 1959 Thunderbird is really a work of art that demands to be driven and shown off every chance you can get. Options include AM/FM Radio, Hub Caps, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Seats, Power Windows, Seat Belts, White Wall Tires and a freshly rebuilt 352 cubic inch Interceptor engine.
