Blacklist is a very successful middle ground between the slower pace of the older games and the faster panther style of Conviction. It's certainly no Chaos Theory and Ironside's absence is distracting, but it's absolutely fun and worth playing. A rock solid "final" entry until Ubisoft gets off their ass
The stealth, the shooting, the mission selection, the upgrade system, the villain, this game had a lot going for it... Mistakes were made. Still, top 10 SC game!
And to be fair, Ironside was only absent from Blacklist because, from what I remember, he was diagnosed with cancer around that time. So I don't think it was a matter of Ubisoft not wanting to bring him back to voice Sam. Luckily, he's still with us, and I hope he gets another chance to voice him at some point. The man has helped bring life to an iconic video game character, and it would be a shame if he doesn't get one more chance at the role.
Blacklist is my favorite SC game I have played… even though it’s the only SC I have played, but still loved it. I pop it on a play through every now and then, like the story mode of GTAV
How did you feel it stacks up to Chaos Theory? It’s the consensus best SC game, with Blacklist modernising gameplay to make it much faster-paced and improvised than deliberate and planned. Plus they got rid of Ironside as Sam’s voice 😢
I really liked conviction maybe it just because of the sonar goggles instead of normal night vision but I missed out on a majority of the games so I don’t what others had the sonar so I could’ve liked them more but just didn’t get the opportunity as a kid

Have you ever played SC: Conviction? The main story and Co-Op are actually really fun although it is a lot different from the other games in the series
Definitely felt the most mall ninja-friendly, though the linearity of the maps, the redundancy of the goggles, and the overall lack of wit or humor didn't help it much. What Ubisoft needed and still needs is a Chaos Theory 2.
An incredible coop experience that we still go back to today, funny how its a double disc on 360 but still looks awesome somehow. silky smooth gameplay. also pc gaming is totally cursed.
Replayed this at the end of last year. Insane how good it still looks. We need another. Though I’ve heard Ubisoft is making one. There’s job posts for working on a new Ubisoft title (being splinter cell) so I assume there’s one coming
Honestly imo the ghost recon dlc was really well done and with the setting and class it just feels genuinely really fun to play especially in ghost mode with the full dark night setting that forces you to actually think and use the nvg itself awesome
I finished playing it last week. I loved it. I just recently got into the franchise. Conviction is my favorite one. But Blacklist is a close number two. I don't understand why those two got hate. I know they were different than Chaos Theory, but they were so good!
I'm playing through the series again and I've never played blacklist. I'm actually playing every old Tom Clancy game I can on the series X. Blacklist and some of the ghost recon games I never got to went on sale literally yesterday. Now is my time lol.
I'd love to see an new Splinter Cell game. I've played every major release and IMO Blacklist was the best in the series (even Chaos Theory). You could approach situations in multiple ways (Stealth, Panther, Assault). But people picked it apart even though it had evolved and gave you the most flexibility in gameplay in the whole series. Seems like there wasn't enough appreciation for the effort Ubisoft put into the game, so I wouldn't blame them for taking their time in making another one, or even not making one at all.
Only issue I ever had with this was Ironside not returning to voice Sam Fisher. Other than that, still one of my personal favorite games. Probably one of my most replayed, too, along the likes of Max Payne (all three of 'em), The Punisher, etc. A lot of AAA games these days focus so much on bloat that they forget to add basic features like replaying missions, which is why I still often return to older games instead of replaying newer ones.
Gonna be honest, I loved this game more than most of the SC series. Only part I never finished was the co-op missions because...I didn't have friends who played it.
I'm glad you're having fun with it (I did too), but as someone who played the game myself, I am in agreement with the game being so bad it killed the franchise
The only complaint I had was Michael ironside not being used as Sam fisher. They could have just introduced a new agent as opposed to completely changing Sam’s voice. The story was fantastic and Carlo rota was amazing. Favorite villain in the whole series for me
Honestly, imo convinction story wise was much better but i will have to say this game had variety approaches to combat which made it way more indepth but overall both games were fun as hell to complete. The only thing that sucked was that they didn't bring back ironside for the voice acting
It has the best merc gameplay but the spies were so boring to play as in this one compared to Double Agent or Chaos Theory due to their limited mobility and having lethal weapons.

11 years since we got a baldurs gate 3 psycopath playthrough.... act 3 lets go
Dude i said “is that ryan from the office” right when i saw the nerd😂
Only issue I ever had with this was Ironside not returning to voice Sam Fisher. Other than that, still one of my personal favorite games. Probably one of my most replayed, too, along the likes of Max Payne (all three of 'em), The Punisher, etc. A lot of AAA games these days focus so much on bloat that they forget to add basic features like replaying missions, which is why I still often return to older games instead of replaying newer ones.
I feel they are gonna hit us with splinter cell game out of nowhere.
Gonna be honest, I loved this game more than most of the SC series.
Only part I never finished was the co-op missions because...I didn't have friends who played it.
I'm glad you're having fun with it (I did too), but as someone who played the game myself, I am in agreement with the game being so bad it killed the franchise
I think it's rare that a game's final or last release still is excellent
The only complaint I had was Michael ironside not being used as Sam fisher. They could have just introduced a new agent as opposed to completely changing Sam’s voice. The story was fantastic and Carlo rota was amazing. Favorite villain in the whole series for me
That red fall sound track tho
14:51 me after the lobotomy
I love how Kev keeps going back to all these weird old games and has still yet to make a video on Spider-Man 2😂
YOU NEED TO PLAY THE COOP CAMPAIGN PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!
I remember trying to play some Splinter Cell game on the Wii. It was hilariously impossible because of the stupid motion controls lol.
Honestly, imo convinction story wise was much better but i will have to say this game had variety approaches to combat which made it way more indepth but overall both games were fun as hell to complete. The only thing that sucked was that they didn't bring back ironside for the voice acting
It's so much pain seeing u playing the game like this 😭
It also had the best version of spies vs mercs no matter what the mouth breathers say
What about black ops 2? And if we’re counting movies, mile 22
It has the best merc gameplay but the spies were so boring to play as in this one compared to Double Agent or Chaos Theory due to their limited mobility and having lethal weapons.
Splinter cell is really one of the greatest game series of all time. I really miss spies vs mercs
I would love a ps5 remaster of this game loved it
Blacklist is and my only splinter cell game I played if I remember correctly.
