Where can you get another id card? The game shop I went to only provided a code when I registered because they were out of physical cards when I signed up. I've been trying to get back in after a lot of setbacks.
Aren't people tired of this? Literally every fandom I'm in that meets somewhere says this same joke. Maybe, just maybe, everyone is depressed. I'm just tired of making fun of people with obvious issues
I would also recommend bringing a power bank to recharge your or your teammate's phones. And please, for the love of Ra, shower before coming to a tournament
For someone who wears glasses, I always kept a small kit for glasses maintenance on me. From the cloth wipe, to a small drop bottle of solution to a mini screwdriver with spare screws to help whoever needs their glasses fixed in some way. Might be a bit much and most pharmacies carry them, I just got them because I have had my pair for almost 17 years.
Me and my younger brother used to play in the back of my grandmas Riviera with the center seat rest. But this was 2007 and our monster zone was practically stacked on top of each other. Magic and trap zone was under the arm rest. Good times.
I’m of the mind that double sleeving is a MUST for official Konami sleeves. I got a set of the KaibaCorp ones a few years back and they aged like milk without over sleeves. Picked up a second set to replace the first lot I had and they’ve held up much better with that extra protection
Thank you for this little guide. To be honest, this recomendations would work with every TCG tutorial. I live in a little city in Russia. During this summer I'll be in Moscow. I hope, I will be able to take a part in a tournament. (we have our own TCG, called "Berserker". Wish me a luck)
I would recommend to use Yu-Gi-Oh! Neuron for your Konami ID, not the physical card, because you can forget it or lose it and Neuron will be in future essential for any tournament
I second water & snacks. After my first locals, I didn't want to go to the tournaments anymore because I haven't had anything to eat or drink. Luckily, I think it was my dad to suggested that I bring food & water, and I've been going to locals for years now.
I think something super important for reigonals is $23 in cash. For Florida atleast, we have 2 lines for regional registration, one for cash and one for card. The cash line is always significantly shorter and so you spend less time waiting in line
8:06 : A question about Legal Dices on Events/Tournaments: ¿Only Konami Yu-Gi-Oh! dices are legal on those events?¿Or you can use any dice in good condition, without any external sign indicating they're tied to any other specific game/brand?
funnily enough I judged at regional qualifiers last week! absolute fave deck check was the guy who had one of those deck boxes that holds 2 decks... with 2 decks in there. In the same sleeves. So technically he had an 85 card side deck (including the 15 cards in his actual side deck). Basically, don't be that guy. Or the guy who tried to dispute a head judge call (which the rules don't allow for) by pulling up a reddit thread (on the phone that should have been on airplane mode). Actually that wasn't even the end of that guy's saga. despite seeing me refer his earlier call up to the head judge, AND me pointing him to the head judge for a followup question... he still mistook me for head judge on a later judge call. (Working theory is I was the least visibly disabled non-woman out of our judge team, so he just Assumed.)
Genuine question My Kaiba Legendary Collection 2018 came with a foldabled "Game Board". It has all the proper zones but it is raise up because of its Game Board nature. Am I allowed to use it at tournaments?
Most of this applies to pretty much every card game/TCG/CCG you will ever play. Come prepared, come clean and come with a good mood and you will have a great time.
I dont know if this is a german thing, but don't you need a written decklist of the cards you play. Or does that come with the registration for the tournament in the us ? unless its a casual local tournament you need one here
It's a bit tough making a tournament vlog since recording at regionals is usually discouraged, so you're left to just relay the story after the fact. Locals isn't usually interesting enough to warrant a video.
Does the keys have a pager for when you lose them? Because without that we won't be able to hear them when trying ti find them and shaking everything.😂
I actually ordered mine on eBay, so you might have some luck there. It's the YCS London 2017 pre-registration mat. Here's what a quick search pulled up. www.ebay.com/itm/185557530212?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=x6_77U-kR_i&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=9KaNtmd-RcG&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Great to see another one of these videos again Paul; at events such as locals or higher tier events, do the event hosts ever lend or provide dice or mats in the event we don’t bring them?
I don't think they're actually issuing those cards anymore, you're expected to just use Neuron now, at the very least I can't get one at my local store, and they're an OTS.
Who else had to pause the video to find the definition lol ex·tem·po·ra·ne·ous adjective spoken or done without preparation. "an extemporaneous speech"
And don't forget to bring your gold or silver coin. I can never enter tournaments since I easily get stressed out. Even playing can be stressful. This is why I retired from playing games in general. I do, however, enjoy collecting cards.
You ahould go. Best thing i ever did was start going back. Find the more chill local some of them are super sweaty. You will meet cool people and have dueling buds plus the OTS packs are bonus
I'd also recmmend alcoholic wipes, in case yu choose chocolate as your choice of food. If yur hands get sticky from the chocolate, you might end up leaving fingerprints on your cards, and might get accused either with marking cards, or get hit with the hygene rule. After chocolate, always clean your hands before you touch your cards. Alcoholic wipes like the ones I use to keep my electronics, like monitors, keyboard, and mouse clean do wonderfully well against most stuff I encountered. That said, they're not as effective against liquids, so if you spill your drink, they will not be as useful for that. For that, you might want to bring some dry ones. Edit: Also, the type of deckbox you've shown in the end (the official one) (albeit, with an Elemental Hero design, not the 25th anniversary one) is the same type I use. It's terrible. Getting the deck in and out of it is a massive pain, and I didn't even double sleeve mine. That'd make the cards even wider. The ones you've shown when talking about deckboxes in particular as a product, were leagues better, but no dubt also more expensive.
Always wondered about that dice set of like 5 I saw in one of your vids. Knowing its from Ultra Pro finally helped me find it shame that they only have the 2 set one and whoo boy $36 just for that two dice set yeah no thanks.
7:20 You can also use dices to mark counters, like; If one card has 2 spell counters, you can put dice top of that card in way that, dice shows number 2, to both players. Or you can even use counters to track number of turns, if you need to. Also, if you need to flip a coin, you can also do that with dice, at least in games with friends (i don't know can you do this in tournaments), if you don't like to flip coins. Example: Roll dice, even is Heads, odd is Tails.
I recently went to my first ever locals! It was fun, and I actually won a game (my opponent conceded, but still). I'm conflicted about going back though because, while the people I played against acted fine enough, the staff at the store were dicks. Maybe it was just me, but it felt like they were just impatient, grumpy people (I asked if they had any packs of Toon Chaos and they practically bit my head off with snark). Also, "locals" is quite the misnomer, at least in my area. I think the three nearest OTS stores are between 5-10 miles from me. Dunno if that's common

Maybe they'd let you, but I wouldn't recommend it. It'll wear very quickly.
I don't have a trade binder but I do have a trade box does that count?
I have the albaz binder. Cards in the konami made binders only sit in perfectly without a sleeve, with a sleeve they protrude out just a bit.
