I am retired now, but years ago I went to work and was wearing my hair in an updo. I was getting my station ready, and felt like a couple of pins in the back were coming out. So, I asked this girl (she was standing right next to me) to just push them back in. (the pins). As she was doing that some people walked by, and told her how great my hair looked, and told her "good job". She didn't say anything. Then, a couple more people walked by, as she was pushing the pin further back in, and said, "Wow, Pat I like what you did to her hair". She still didn't say anything. If it were me, I would have said, "I didn't do it, Donna did her own hair". I could never understand how someone could feel good about getting credit for something they didn't do.
Donna that happens to me throughout my whole life, someone else stealing my thunder. I dont know how to correct people without sounding like im tooting my own horn. I was raised not to brag. So I wait for someone else to stick up for me....nothing..I hear crickets.
We just have to speak up for ourselves!! As I have gotten older, I have become pretty outspoken and it feels good! I figure, that since I am coming from a good place, no matter what comes out of my mouth is good, as long as it is positive and honest
At first you're in shock because you can't believe so called professionals are behaving like brats. Then you get angry... then you rise above it and become even better at your job, even leaving that sad little shop of horrors behind and setting up your own small business. Smart women don't waste their breath on the thickos and jealous, they become smarter and more educated 💋
I actually prefer that method!!! Cutting hair before dying it makes no sense because you're just damaging your new healthy hair.. idk to me it makes more sense to color and then cut it
Girl!! I know how you feel.. I was treated that way as a teenager through my 20's. I bet you've got it your whole life bc you're so beautiful. I will never understand why women behave that way to other women just bc their own insecurities.
My mother is hairdresser she had the same problems because she was Italian Mexican She was told to do 12 girls 1 bride and 11 Friends in 5 hours She finished them all and when my mother looked at her co worker she was still on the hair and the bride was so mad she looked at the woman in the eye and said let her finish it.And my mother finished the bride.
I was a stylist when I was in my 20's and every salon I worked at treated me the way you described in this video. I eventually quit styling because I could not stand how much drama and hate was in an all girl close quarters job environment. I often wonder if I would still be doing hair if even one salon had been a friendly place. Looks like it's still a problem even today makes me feel like I made the right choice so long ago.
Every job has crap moments.. but work hard .. become a better owner be an example.. or do at home work.. don't let bitchy women rule your life or your passion
Just saying, the Stylist who told you to do the cut 1st and the color after was right. Nothing worse than wasting expensive product. Neckline trimming can be done after. It's a rookie mistake. But since you knew it all, the experienced stylists probably.refused to offer help for fear it would fall on deaf ears. I'd be the same way.
Beth Oliver No. Typically you want to color hair that hasn't been washed in a day or two. To cut hair it is usually (not always) washed first. So therefore, coloring makes more sense. Instead of washing, cutting, drying, coloring, washing, drying again.
Jamie Lee I am not a stylist but I totally agree. I have never had my hair cut prior to coloring. The double washing process would take forever, I don't wash my hair every day and especially not if I am headed to the salon, it would have to be washed twice if my stylist cut first!
Went through this EXACT thing when I worked at a corporation in the accounting department. They played these same petty games and pretended to like me. Made shit up and caused drama which I have never been a part of. Also so glad you commented 'stick up for yourself' because they HATE that and don't expect it. I, too, came to realize that they were jealous of me because I'm ~30 years younger, ethnic, and have a four-year degree from one of the best schools in the industry. I guess they didn't want to see me succeed.
Love this. Ive worked in these environments with that undermining bitchiness where they want you to be fake. I quit and this video is so nice to see that good things happen when you're brave and authentic to yourself.
+LeavingforVenus Inagettawaycar Naw. White people and non POC, cant say it. That's it. White people had no problem using it when it was meant to cause harm and degrade Blacks, but now that y'all can't use it, no one should be able to. Please. Spare me
Actually, anybody with a mouth and a voice can say it. But that doesn't mean they should. That is like saying "Don't call me a bitch, but my friends call me Bi-otch." If it's such a bad term to call someone why all of a sudden is it a term of endearment? You can't have it both ways. Honestly, nobody should be using it. But the continued use of it over and over in every song and conversation in today's world etc. makes it seem more appropriate to use. It's society that is 'making it okay' and then putting restrictions on making it okay for some to say it. If it's such a derrogatory word NOBODY should be saying it.
+LeavingforVenus Inagettawaycar you think it's "okay" to use and watch the reactions you will get. You don't like the word, that is fine. You don't (and should not) use it. Let Black people decide what words we want to use to describe us/in our culture! Thanks!
Whenever I feel jealous of someone, I compliment them. I feel a million times better afterwards..Idk why but it helps me feel better and it also boosts them. Win Win :P
This is why you have your own salon now!!! The Lord works it out! He always does!!! I love watching you cause I love watching your growth over the years!! Super proud of all that you have overcome! Thanks for the video!
P.S. We are so like-minded cause when I see a woman that's got her stuff together - looks pretty, has her head on straight, ambitious, wants to be kind to people etc etc. I wanna become her friend, I want to learn from her, I want her in my circle, shoot!! Why hate on someone and spend time on having all that negative energy when we can be friends and "glow"- up together! Shoot!
I've always been trained to color first and then cut. Color ruins your ends so you gotta cut them off. Good job doing what's right and sticking up for yourself
I've also been taught that all stylists are on the same team. That sucks you had to go through that. You are an inspiration to me! Teach us how to be confident in another video please.
You just make the basic cut first then trim it up afterwards. My stylist does this anyway and I don't dye my hair. She makes the basic cut after shampooing, then blowdrys it, layers and trims it. Now if the hair is already short and they are just getting a trim and dye then it doesn't matter.
girrrl this resonated with me sooo much! As a fellow stylist, I can say this has happened to me at 2 different salons in New York City. Like almost to the T on what you went through. I hate to bring race into it but I am almost positive that was one of the main issues aside from you just being flat out gorgeous! Im latina, young and talented and I have received so much hate and shade at some salons that I even questioned changing my profession at one point. Its a real problem within our industry (and outside of it) that doesn't really get addressed. Thank you for sharing this video, it feels good to know I'm not the only person that has dealt with this crap! At one point I was like, is it me? Am I doing something wrong?! WTF? But Like you, I stuck to my guns held my ground and gracefully walked away from those toxic establishments. A lot of salons take advantage of young talent. Many salons in the city wanted me to be a glorified maid- excuse me "assistant" before even taking a look at my work. I don't care what anyone else says, I know it had everything to do with my race, how well put together I ALWAYS present myself and how talented/experienced I am for my age. Its sad but I will say it's made me a beast when it comes to my craft and just dealing with racism all together... so cheers to the haters! They light our fire and keep us great!!!! New subscriber
There are always haters in any work environment men or women. They were waiting for you to "screw up" even in the smallest amount. That guy who said you could leave was looking to sabotage you. But as long as you can walk away knowing you did the best you could. You can leave with your head held high.
You are so wise for you age. So many times in my youth I had gotten fired because some miserable malcontent went behind my back to destroy me as of jealousy; I showed them up. I always bounced back because I had the self confidence of knowing my skills and talent would find me another and better job right away, and it always did. Maybe that was the last job they ever had, but it wasn't mine. We get the last laugh!
My dad works in a mainly male predominated workplace. There was only a couple older women that worked there. A new girl in her 20s who was well put together and in shape started and the other women tried to tear her down every opportunity they had. It's sad that women can't support other women especially when they are threatened by how their outer appearance is.
The girl that does my extensions is a well known stylist in the area. She's worked on music videos and commercials, very successful lady. told me she got fired from a salon owned by two women when she first started training/interning. One liked her but the other always had an issue for her. Finally the one who disliked her told her that she was let go for not being "a good fit" and that "doing hair isn't for everybody". My friend was bummed being that it was her first job, but quickly was employed elsewhere. Fast forward a decade the lady that fired her walked into her extension certification class!!
Also these people will force you out and tomorrow say "we'd love to have 'diversity' at the salon but people just don't apply/last very long!" Girl let me stop. I can write a book.
That's how i feel like at my current job. I'm trying so hard to look for another job. I too hate being "fake happy" around people who don't ACTUALLY respect/appreciate your help. It's toxic. I don't know how people STAY in those kinds of environments year AFTER YEAR. It's exhausting.
sweetiestrawberrie15 I have drama in my salon. Two caddy bitches just tried to get me fired. Sadly enough, many women are very jealous of those who have just a little more then they do. Women should stick together, not try to bring each other down. They were trying to bring this girl down just so they can have a few moments of thrills.
Now you guys see the the truth , women nature , doesn't matter which industries , if there is a woman , soon or later she'll cause some trouble , because you guys are insecure people.
Yeah right because men don't act that way? Maybe not with you because they want to get them panties. You're just attracting the wrong kind of women. My lady friends aren't insecure or competitive. They are real women who have lives going on. Maybe grow up and stop hanging out with immature girls.
I absolutely hated working with all girls. I was a preschool teacher and I quickly became a non-favorite amongst the other girls that I worked with because I’m not fake and over the top bubbly like them. All that mattered was the kids and making their parents happy; I had no time for the drama in the break room. I’m a friendly person but I just can’t be over the top and fake like a lot of girls. Off topic but you kinda remind me of Adriana Lima and Sarah Hyland here. And your eye makeup is especially gorgeous!
sounds like they were looking for an excuse to fire you and that little incident was the perfect reason for them.....scumbags! I'm sorry. No one needs to work with people like that!
I've had similar issues in the retail field. It got bad in one of the jobs. That one had nearly 100% females. This particular lady did mean things to everyone. Once I found out, I documented and reported it to management. They talked to her, but no punishment was given. The sneaky crap that she did involved money from sales that she rescanned to her account. So others ended up short. Eventually I quit that job. When management cannot be bothered to find out what all goes on, then you've got to get out of there.
Oh and thank you for this message. I'm 20 years old working in an environment that has majority older people. I'm like the youngest on my team. Day by day I'm learning to stand up for myself because there's no way I can handle rude customers AND hatin' coworkers at the same time.
Yep I could listen to your stories all day. Your thoughts are so organized and your dry humor is cute! I just want to let you know that I was your subscriber years ago when you had just started school. I remember specifically you posting a video of all these nail polishes and their swatches on a notepad that you had bought at a local beauty supply video. REally! I unsubscribed to like all my makeup ladies because I was spending an absurd amount of time and money haha. So glad to find you again and find you doing well at that.
Brittney, it was so comforting and uplifting to hear your story as I had a very similar experience but as a legal assistant at a law firm. It's crazy how similar our experiences were, especially going over and beyond, helping others, staying late, and I was blamed for things I didn't do but LUCKILY I had RECEIPTS!! I'm sick of hateful women trying to sabotage YOUR job , career etc. That is why I vowed that I WILL NEVER work for anyone again and to start my own firm one day. Thank you so much for sharing your story, it makes me know I'm not alone!!!
This is SO TRUE. I got the same offer from the owner at my current Salon and because I’ve been there done that before at previous salons and got stuck as an assistant instead of progressing, I said no thank you I just want to be a stylist and build my clientele. Well me standing my ground politely declining her offer , she labeled me “Sassy”. I’m Black she’s not. And I for sure wasn’t sassy AT ALL. Anyway. Don’t take it personal when you stand your ground politely. You know your life and your journey where you came from. They don’t. Trust your gut at all times. Babies keep your head up, keep it polite and keep it moving. Xoxo been a Fan for years Brittany keep up the great work hunny bunny! OMG so I just finished the video and that night I met you at that hair event Downtown and you Made my night and I had no idea what you went through that night I was being such a fan and you were so humble and polite and sweet. Xoxo even more. Ps those girls were just jealous that you’re gorgeous And a successful UA-camr. Something that they can do but aren’t as brave to. You’re awesome forever.
I'm so relieved that you are talking about this because this is exactly the same issues I have had in the salon. Now that I can hear someone else saying it it makes so much more sense.
You are awesome! Thanks for opening up and talking about jealousy. It's a sad, sad thing, and it brings all of us ladies down! Your advice on this is great!
@@dominiquedoeslife me too, I knew a girl who was that level og bitchy and fake/manipulative. Cutting her out of my life was like getting a tumor removed.
I didn't know you were a stylist! I'm in beauty school right now. I started following you about 6 years ago and was so sad when you stopped making videos. I'm glad you make videos again and I'm glad I never unsubscribed. This makes me love you even more! I'm so nervous about picking my first salon.
Good for you for creating your channel and helping other young women out there! We didn't have UA-cam or the internet when I started in this business. I interned at Yosh in San Francisco back in the early 90s and was so ridiculously naive. I really enjoy your videos! Keep it going
I love your personality!! I have been a cosmetologist for 22 years, so yes, I have dealt with the back biting before with many stylists!! I hate it. It actually made me hate my job for a while! I have recently became a suite owner at Salons by JC, in Spartanburg SC. And, I absolutely LOVE it! Everyone is so nice. There is zero competition. And that is very rare to find, as I'm sure you know...lol! I love the fact that if I have free time, I can close my door and take a break from everyone and everything. Just to get some "Me" time in. I'm glad I found your channel! I'm a UA-cam addict. So, when I am having my "Me" time, I will be watching your videos! 😊
You are so classy and above the fake-ness and hater-ation that constantly happens to very driven and confident woman. Kudos to you for staying professional and classy.
You know when you're the ONLY black female and you have talent then they will ALWAYS try to play the office politics. I'm a manager in the number 2 retailer in America and I oversee HR, when I say these people try to play it like it isn't so....they are just mad that you're ahead and they're stagnant and it isn't a good look for anyone involved. I had a manager think she could come in MY office and wave her finger about what I didn't need to know...I promptly told her no what YOU need to know is I'm NOT THE ONE! And she cooled all the way down😒
"I'm gonna have to use 40 on his hair..." I'm not crazy! Thanks God. Every Hairdresser in the state of Kentucky thinks I'm like some feral dog who doesn't follow the rules. Virgin hair (especially Asian hair, The hair shaft is crazy strong) can handle 40 and Bleach. My hair has handled 40 and bleach (and I'm Caucasian) probably over 100 times in my life. It has broken exactly once ever, and that was a relaxer. Brittney, I am here for your channel.
I feel you girl and I also feel the rage inside of you for all the injustice...this world is f***** up...and I actually feel so bad that you didnt fight back and say something when your credit has been taken away from you (in front of you)...im upset that these haters managed to upset you when I know (without knowing you or them personally) just by behaviour, you were a trooper ! ❤
Stories like this remind me to be *so* grateful for the amazing and supportive stylists I work with. I just started at this salon in the Spring but I think I found my place ❤
This is the truest saddest story, as a licensed cosmetologist I’ve seen some UNLICENSED assistants and stylists with the poor work ethic, skills, and talent employed because of their look... most high end salons especially, don’t care much about your good vibes energy and technique. The clients don’t care, the stylists, managers included. There’s much you have to work on, however, you shouldn’t feel insecure if you are passionate about your work. Especially if you’re LICENSED. P.S For those who don’t know, it’s difficult to obtain a cosmetology license, about 20% of Beauty School graduates obtain their license, for those who make it to graduation.
"I go out of my way, to make people happy." Story of my life. As someone who has also received discrimination in their workplace, and is also prone to selflessly helping others in the name of teamwork, be sure to make sure your hard work is noted as well, to the person it matters to (manager, supervisor, etc.) that way when you work hard, you are properly appreciate despite half rationalized animosity. They only guy who needs to see that hard work, is the person who is promoting you, that's what helped me in my career. Let the naysayers be that, stay encouraged and keep growing Brittney.
That's one thing that's always pissed me off about being fired. I was fired once, for a situation similar to hers. I was a newbie at a retail store that everyone was tightly knit, and they hated someone who actually got on them to do their jobs, and that I was taking their hours, so they all would frame me for shit with the boss, and would claim things like "I ignore customers and am always on the phone" and stuff like that. Second time I got fired, I'll admit that one was on me. I hated the job and wasn't going above and beyond, but I still was a satisfactory employee. I mean, I worked harder than some of the deadbeats who were there. Anyways. They always say shit like "I just don't think you're happy here. We want you to move on to greener pastures." And all that bullshit, like they actually care about you, and that them firing you is for your own benefit. I hate it.
Wow. A year later after you upload this video I'm watching this and can relate. Getting "fired" for a misunderstanding, then bringing up scenarios that, to your understanding, was long gone and forgotten and talked about, but now months, years later gets brought back and add it to the "why I'm letting you go". I told my boss I was leaving(was moving) the salon with 2 months notice( I was the only stylist at the time, giving her enough time to find a replacement) and 2 weeks after I tell her I'm leaving she decides to choose a non-valid reason to, "fire" me and talk... really, she just chose whatever excuse.
Listen I've been doin this for 20 years, and no matter what, Every Single place I've worked there are always at least 1 catty bitch who's jealous of you and make it harder for you to try to make u leave. Fuck them Ho's! They try to make you quit or get fired!!
ikr!! I've been a cosmetologist for 22 years and I finally found my forever home at Salons by JC. I'm a suite owner. Even though everyone there is very nice, which is very hard to fine this business, I love the fact that I can go in my suite, close my door and have some alone time just to get away for a little while. Not the mention, I can close my door and have a conversation with my clients without ears stretching, trying to hear every word we're saying! Lol
This video was so on point! The fact that you are better off and working for yourself now is speaking volumes to me. Had a very similar experience while working at a small company last year. Prior to this, I was doing the work of a chemist (while interning as an undergrad and then again as a lab tech for a large and then middle size company) long before the validation came in the form of the title. So when the owners wife of this small company started throwing shade in front of the entire office, the quiet and meek facade came off. The expression on her face was priceless. Other than myself the owners were the only scientists in the building and they were both older than my parents. The only exception about this situation was I wasn't the only minority, though I was the only one with a desk in the office.
Great story and I love the message behind it! It was truly a blessing that you got fired from that job because you grew so much, you have your own business and your engaged!! Life is good! I know when we think about how we've been wronged by people we get upset but this was a learning lesson and you came on top. Keep giving them more reasons to hate and God bless!
i work in a different field than you but girl yasss! i recently just quit a a summer job because the manager was disrespectul and i felt under valued and under payed. i felt like i went out of my way for that job and i never complained about the lack of support and resources that were promised but never given. so the straw that broke the camels back was when my manager disrespectfully made a comment saying in so many words that im not needed there , btw they were understaffed so i found that funny ... its amazing how many older women are just as petty as younger women but i ended up quitting and this video made me feel even more assure + glad of my decision.!
Dude this speaks to my soul! It’s hard to work with women... the better you are the more haters you get too! I hope you finally found a salon family, your beautiful btw
A total trooper! 😂 the way you did her voice was hilarious. Haha. What would the beauty industry be without a hater. They were just mad you did your job infinity and beyond.
I'm a young apprentice and I'm learning to be a hairdresser.I know exactly what you are talking about! I want to thank you for this video I'm so passionate about hairdressing but it can knock you down a lot and I'm not the most confident person as it is seeing videos like this makes me wanna keep going! Thank you! Xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ive experienced the exact same thing that you have experienced. People can be absolutely horrible, there are so few real people. It just makes it hard to trust anything that people say.
I worked in a salon and got fired too for petty stuff as well. In a sort of way, I'm glad I'm out of the salon setting. I'm happy I got fired, cause I wasn't happy there. And I haven't done hair since. I don't know if it was because I was a guy but I felt out of place. And I did get the haters too. I was not going to be fake at that salon and compromise my virtue. Eventually it started weighing on me and I started being honest. The salon didn't like how honest I was. They hated it. The manager of the salon kept telling me to "fake it til you make it" and that philosophy was not my own and I wouldn't take that philosophy! No, um...I'm gonna tell how it really is. Kudos to you that you take the high road. And I am inspired by you now.
I quit my dream at a salon a few months ago. Me & another girl were assistants & they told me to go to her for any questions I had or for help. Long story short she didn't want to help me she would roll her eyes if I asked her any questions or tell me the wrong answer.
I just found your channel today and I am so glad i came across this video in particular because the whole time i watched you i had this HUGE feeling you were either mixed or black and to hear you confirm it is everything. I love love love your facial features and your skin tone, great vids babe!
I'm currently working at a salon under almost the same conditions except it's my boss , she literally is on my ass all the time and belittles me constantly... I'm very depressed and just filled with anger .
I recommend in an interview, ask about the environment/ company culture. I would explain past experiences and how a good environment promotes productivity. Ask them and gauge their response. You don't get paid to get abused ESPECIALLY by the employer.
Girl, my first real job was like this. My manager was the hater, and she was super super toxic. One of my coworkers had to leave our work place for an LDS mission (proselyting for 2 years) and my manager kept telling one of the girls I worked with to get him drunk so he couldn't go. She knew my religious standing and would always schedule me during my worship, at least 3 times a month, despite having MULTIPLE conversations with her asking for that time off and offering to work other times during the week. She almost wouldn't let me get work off for my aunt's funeral. Finally, one of her favorite girls told me that the manager said she didn't have to come in, after I had thrown up twice at work, and I just decided to quit. Lesson learned: my mental, physical, and emotional stability is worth so much more than any amount of money anyone could ever give me.
Love you! Your so real. I worked as waitress at Chinese buffet. Before even started working I told manager that I had already a year ahead paid for 3 day (start week slow for them) honeymoon asked he still wanted hire me he was fine. He was fine with it. When got back he was an ass. This after I even spent my money buying gifts for everyone plus helping him train new workers (not even extra pay for it). Use work full days (10 am - 11pm) when found out I was pregnant on my day off I went confirm from a doctor. Told my manager out of respect so he would have time find a new workers to take over when knew couldn't handle it any more which would been 8 months mark. He totally told me to quit not even 2 weeks pregnant plus cut my work to morning where hardly any customer or tips then when realize going leave swamped me with work which I loved but didn't give me a lunch break until everyone had theirs I was last one or none at all. Last was when draw sections for fair customers for Christmas day. he refused let me have section I got fair and square away from cold exit door. That's just where just up left not giving shit about my manager. Only 3 guys rest girls so know how they felt about treating a 7 month pregnant woman. After I left alot of them quit.
Ok I'll work on creating a salon series answering questions from school to financing etc but I'll have to break them down - i tried making one long video once and it was like 2 hours lol
I’m SO glad I saw this video today! Thank you! It’s given me so much wisdom...I was going to go into a salon to do some models with some feedback from a stylist that’s employed at the salon, so as to get salon experience. But now I see that I’m selling myself short. I have confidence but not the practical stuff I need for my resume. When you mentioned the other stylist trying to tell you how to do your models hair...it’s made me think, I’m not going to put myself in this situation. It undermines my profession and integrity. So thank you for sharing your experience. I have to figure another way to do hair without all this crap.
You are so right about the jealousy, i worked in retail at a super young age and because of some hard work along with being in the right place i ended up as a store manager at 19, and people could not wait to try and drag me down. It got even worse when i left to go be a co manager at a jewelry store. I was in charge of people 10 years older than me and the lies they made up in an attempt to get me fired were ridiculous. After one girl made up a lie saying i was doing drugs on the clock i just had to leave, i couldnt deal with having people constantly assault my character and work ethic. If people are trying to drag you down its because they know that your better and ahead of them.
When you bleached his hair and you used 40 (if you did) was it off the scalp? Because I was told in school not to use 40 on scalp so how did you do that? : )
Yeah you just have to be careful- I always add a little Sweet n Low (yes, the artificial sweetener lol) to the formula because it prevents itching and scalp irritation
You are a Goddess!💖 Don't let those itches get you down. I'm so sick of jealous girls. Like you don't even have to do anything and they just hate for no reason that makes sense. Whatever. Their problem.
I love this video girl! Its so important to stand up for yourself. Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way. I bet you never doubted yourself again after seeing the subpar work of your coworkers and the quality of product you produced! And look at you now with your own bomb salon #yass #girlpower
I freaking love you! I've been following your videos since your first channel years ago. That stylist was definitely jealous- you're hair and makeup is poppin too. 💁🏽
Maybe it might have been a very uncomfortable situation for the girl? And that's why she didn't say anything because she felt awkward about it?
Always give your co-workers credit where credit is do. You will get your props also. How do you want to be remembered. She's right to call that out.
I was so entertained with the cars in the background lol
Cit Sol i am waiting to see a wreck
Cit Sol HAHA

Yes 😊
The doors closing in the background are so annoying
I actually prefer that method!!! Cutting hair before dying it makes no sense because you're just damaging your new healthy hair.. idk to me it makes more sense to color and then cut it
Alexis Medina , also, especially with women, when you color it first the hair is good and saturated from shampooing, for an easier cutting process.
The person I use to go to always cut my hair first and my neck burned every time
The hair you didn't cut would still be damaged
Alexis Medina same!!!
It might br also good to trim the ends. i find coloring makes them split a little
Her face is so symmetrical and perfect...
That's why she's so beautiful
Deanna she cooks at pizza hunt use to was nice no funny shit
strignt forward my style
I legitimately thought shr was animated
People who say “trooper” or “rockstar” are lowkey snakes lol
Or summer camp counsellors. I swear to you it's a universal phenomena.
True lol
those 3 dislikes are the haters from the salon lmfaooo love you girl!
Ive only just discovered you 2 days ago, but I like your vibe SO SOOOOOOO much. The way you talk is so soothing, calm and logical. You are SO smart!!
Looks like it's still a problem even today makes me feel like I made the right choice so long ago.
angmansb same
I've been a stylist for 24 yrs and 90% of the salons are like this. I found a salon with silly non hateful drama so I feel lucky now lol
Every job has crap moments.. but work hard .. become a better owner be an example.. or do at home work.. don't let bitchy women rule your life or your passion
they where just jealous. cause you are drop dead gorgeous.
Lilliemae Edwards its sad but this is probably true. That and they probably saw her drive and talent, so they felt intimidated.
I swear!! She's totally rockin' it!
🤔😆
absolutely
@@Jkstolz 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I stared at your makeup the entire time you were talking trying to figure out how you did it. lol! Super great storytime. More please 😊
Sameeeee her eyes look great
Just saying, the Stylist who told you to do the cut 1st and the color after was right.
A_blues 4Nola , yes, I agree, her make-up is flawless!! She is GORGEOUS!!
I clicked on this thinking this was a sim I'm screaming
Kasey Blake OMG I thought she was a imvu character lol 😝😂😂
XD
Lmaoooooo
Omfg i totally see it 😂
😂😂😂😂
This was my life as a black female engineer. I never got the respect that I deserved... Being laid off was the best thing that ever happened to me!
Love this. Ive worked in these environments with that undermining bitchiness where they want you to be fake. I quit and this video is so nice to see that good things happen when you're brave and authentic to yourself.
Lauren Deeth-Kelt she is fake tho.
@@Jkstolz she's not fake just because she is professional
"She said the N-word with the 'er'" I died bc there is totally a difference and it makes all the difference lol
Oh wow, I thought she met you in the color room and told you to cut his hair first!! What a hater!!!!
Yes, there is a difference. But honestly if it's such a terrible derogatory word NO body should be using it.
Shoot!
+Samantha Sharpless Yasss!!! 👏👏👏👏
Fast forward a decade the lady that fired her walked into her extension certification class!!
i legit thought you were a white girl at first lol but you are literally a black version of adriana lima
i don't see it. she is mexican or latina ? she look like white person with dark tan
adriana lima is afro Brazilian
richie mackintyre what?? i never knew that lol
Nadia Venice shs talks about it all the time
OMG true! She looks very similar to Adriana!
Not trying to be messy but sometimes being the only black person (or minority) in a workplace is so not the tea. People really want to try you.
Also these people will force you out and tomorrow say "we'd love to have 'diversity' at the salon but people just don't apply/last very long!" Girl let me stop. I can write a book.
Yup and when you pop the fuck off on they ass that's when the simmer down. They really aren't used to someone clapping back
Me too smh.. SO not the tea.
For real.
Unekwu can black people do white girl.... because we know the opposite isn't true
That's how i feel like at my current job. I'm trying so hard to look for another job. I too hate being "fake happy" around people who don't ACTUALLY respect/appreciate your help. It's toxic. I don't know how people STAY in those kinds of environments year AFTER YEAR. It's exhausting.
PREACH!!! 🙌🙌🙌
I left the hair industry just cause I was sick of the catty highschool petty drama ....sadly
sweetiestrawberrie15 It's why I refused to do hair was the way girls in the program were acting.
Same!
sweetiestrawberrie15 I have drama in my salon. Two caddy bitches just tried to get me fired. Sadly enough, many women are very jealous of those who have just a little more then they do. Women should stick together, not try to bring each other down. They were trying to bring this girl down just so they can have a few moments of thrills.
sweetiestrawberrie15 I’m about there too
Now you guys see the the truth , women nature , doesn't matter which industries , if there is a woman , soon or later she'll cause some trouble , because you guys are insecure people.
Jealous, insecure women are the absolute worst. So many reasons I have way more guy friends than girl. Love your videos! Keep staying open and honest.
Yeah right because men don't act that way? Maybe not with you because they want to get them panties. You're just attracting the wrong kind of women. My lady friends aren't insecure or competitive. They are real women who have lives going on. Maybe grow up and stop hanging out with immature girls.
“Don’t sell yourself short” love that and needed to hear that. Thank you for sharing your story girl
Great video, doesn't sound fake at all like some of the storytime vids I've seen lol...btw You look just like Adriana Lima!
omg she does ! haha it was bugging me cause I couldn't figure out who she reminds me of. thanks xp
She looks kinda like oliva wilde
I feel like she looks like a mix of Adriana Lima and Vanessa Williams (Wilhemina on Ugly Betty).
The only thing that is fake is her very obvious makeup
Alanna R. She is
You are awesome! Thanks for opening up and talking about jealousy. It's a sad, sad thing, and it brings all of us ladies down! Your advice on this is great!
That salon sounds like it is full of narcissists! It's a good thing you got out, if only you had been able to get out of there sooner!
j77walker Exactly what I was thinking
lol how did you get to this video...? just wondering
@@dominiquedoeslife me too, I knew a girl who was that level og bitchy and fake/manipulative. Cutting her out of my life was like getting a tumor removed.
Bibi Sobieski Same!
I didn't know you were a stylist! I'm in beauty school right now. I started following you about 6 years ago and was so sad when you stopped making videos. I'm glad you make videos again and I'm glad I never unsubscribed. This makes me love you even more! I'm so nervous about picking my first salon.
This is exactly why I do free lance work now. I HATED working in a salon
Good for you for creating your channel and helping other young women out there! We didn't have UA-cam or the internet when I started in this business. I interned at Yosh in San Francisco back in the early 90s and was so ridiculously naive. I really enjoy your videos! Keep it going
Tutorial on this eye makeup please? It looks great
I love your personality!!
And she cooled all the way down😒
Forreal!! you set her straight lol
"I'm gonna have to use 40 on his hair..."
I'm not crazy!
Now this is real girl talk, this video made me subscribe! Good for you for being a strong independent woman and not letting the haters get to you.
Microaggressions are the worst. They're intended to demean and weaken you.
Jacqueline O. I’m willing to bet microaggressions are the main reason for the staggering number of black women who are entrepreneurs.
I feel you girl and I also feel the rage inside of you for all the injustice...this world is f***** up...and I actually feel so bad that you didnt fight back and say something when your credit
has been taken away from you (in front of you)...im upset that these haters managed to upset you when I know (without knowing you or them personally) just by behaviour, you were a trooper ! ❤
That's what I hate about this industry ughh. I hope to be on my own soon like you are. You inspire me a lot.
Stories like this remind me to be *so* grateful for the amazing and supportive stylists I work with. I just started at this salon in the Spring but I think I found my place ❤
I am living for your personality! Yaassss, please keep doing these.
Dana Crawford good point
Girl I can totally relate! I actually just lost my job because they were threatened by me!!!!!! You are very inspiring! Thanks for the video!!
Lmao, "you got me ffffffffff...-". Great story/ stories girl!!
Word! 👍🏾👏🏾
Preach it!
I've dealt with so many haters at work before I'm glad you did this video.
I told my boss I was leaving(was moving) the salon with 2 months notice( I was the only stylist at the time, giving her enough time to find a replacement) and 2 weeks after I tell her I'm leaving she decides to choose a non-valid reason to, "fire" me and talk... really, she just chose whatever excuse.
give me that #1 haters name and the salon lol. ima handle that for you.
Yeah just five me the phone number and I will call the owner and say one of the stylist was fucking around with there spouse! Lol
Lol
LOL!
She’s right! Her makeup nails and hair is poppin
Great story and I love the message behind it! It was truly a blessing that you got fired from that job because you grew so much, you have your own business and your engaged!! Life is good! I know when we think about how we've been wronged by people we get upset but this was a learning lesson and you came on top. Keep giving them more reasons to hate and God bless!
i work in a different field than you but girl yasss! i recently just quit a a summer job because the manager was disrespectul and i felt under valued and under payed. i felt like i went out of my way for that job and i never complained about the lack of support and resources that were promised but never given. so the straw that broke the camels back was when my manager disrespectfully made a comment saying in so many words that im not needed there , btw they were understaffed so i found that funny ... its amazing how many older women are just as petty as younger women but i ended up quitting and this video made me feel even more assure + glad of my decision.!
yes! Sometimes the older ones are worse lol. But good for you! Better things coming.
I’m currently going through something exactly like this
Dude this speaks to my soul! It’s hard to work with women... the better you are the more haters you get too! I hope you finally found a salon family, your beautiful btw
them wanting you to cut before color was them being cheap not wanting to waste product haha
Or a to make her doubt herself and do it incorrectly so that they could get her fired faster. 🤷♀️
I fell into a spiral of your videos and can't stop watching! You are so beautiful inside and out! x
You are just so beautiful and talented, clearly they were haters
I quit my dream at a salon a few months ago. Me & another girl were assistants & they told me to go to her for any questions I had or for help. Long story short she didn't want to help me she would roll her eyes if I asked her any questions or tell me the wrong answer.
Hatin' ass ho's and flies. Ugh!! Loved this vid 🙌🏾💜🙌🏾
SpiralsAndLife ni
I legit don't know ONE stylist that cuts before they colour!
I think this is the only video I've ever watched where the person has actually looked in the camera the whole time, props to you girl gained a sub xo
I absolutely had no clue you were black until you said so
I had to go back and listen again. But yeah, fuck.
She looks like a tanned white girl. She doesn't look black at all tbh.
Just look at the color of her hands.
Same. Explains why she's so gorgeous thoughhh
Nor me! I felt really ignorant. 😖 She is a beautiful young lady though whatever her ethnicity.
Can you do a video on how to grow as a hairstylist? Or advice for new hairstylist?
I'm a dog groomer and girl its the same damn thing lol
Tami Lakes lol wot
Tami Lakes haaahahaha wow. A. Thats hilarious. B. You must have the best clients!
Yes it is you ain't lying
ERVA MIN lol you'd be surprised some dogs are just as crazy 😂😂
Awww I applaud you 👏👌
You are so right about the jealousy, i worked in retail at a super young age and because of some hard work along with being in the right place i ended up as a store manager at 19, and people could not wait to try and drag me down.
👏👏👏you've spoken so much truth. btw you're a beautiful person
GIRL! I literally just got out of a job that was pulling this exact crap!! So glad I'm out of that job that was so poisonous to my life.
only super insecure women feel jealous...pls clarify that, no secure woman will ever resent another but will appreciate her
Girl ive legit watched this like several times. Never won't be entertaining llol love you!
Oh I didn't know that! thanks for the tip
Brittney Gray You know you're a legit stylist when you know the sweet n low trick 🤣😂👌
Brittney Gray lol 😂👏🏻
You sound like a hater Annabelle!
You are a Goddess!💖 Don't let those itches get you down. I'm so sick of jealous girls. Like you don't even have to do anything and they just hate for no reason that makes sense. Whatever. Their problem.
I've had a similar experience in the work place dealing with racism as well due to jealousy. I'm looking to start cosmetology school soon.
I love this video girl! Its so important to stand up for yourself. Sometimes we have to learn lessons the hard way. I bet you never doubted yourself again after seeing the subpar work of your coworkers and the quality of product you produced! And look at you now with your own bomb salon #yass #girlpower
You and your makeup reminds me of a model you'd see for custom content for Sims 4
I freaking love you! I've been following your videos since your first channel years ago.
That stylist was definitely jealous- you're hair and makeup is poppin too. 💁🏽
