For anyone confused about the ending :
Before Lela and Tanner went back home, Mack told her to do whatever she wants and that she can change the movie if she wanted.
With that being said, Lela did.
This made the movie appeal more to Mack than Brady and that's why Brady wasn't obsessed with it like he was Wet Side Story but Mack was.
The end is basically the same way they met, but just reversed.
No they did not remember each other in the end. The wink was just a universal thing Lela did to ensure the audience that she did take Mack's advise.
With all of that being said... There definitely is room for a third movie, but the ending is fine and it leaves room for imagination.

Mizzy doing that dosent make the movie better, its still a horrible sequel... not totally bad, but not good... they couldn't even keep continuity of rain, and keep this one continuous shot, but they instead edited!... and the characters are different!.... Brady is now more worried, and they changed how they met! mac was suppose to not have been all that into the movie, but they change it to she loved it before they met!!!!!!!!!!!, and com on... a whole school like an old musical! i mean, i know i would, but half the girls would hate it, most guys would never heard of it. and only theatre, prep girls, and maybe some surf people, but just like 2, like Brady, would go to a thing about a movie worshiping an actress! the film wet side story becomes is just jacking off this characters feminine dick!

I believe Mack's grandparents were the actors who played Lela and Tanner. Her grandfather looks similar to Tanner, light blue eyes and light-ish hair. We never get to see her grandmother or mom, but if I remember, her aunt had darker blue eyes like Lela. My headcannon is that they enchanted the necklace prop from the movie and the surfboard, so they could teach their future granddaughter life lessons. Maybe her grandmother had whatever her mother died from.

Mack dropping the hat the first time was on purpose just like the mike coming in the scene at 0:56. it's meant to show that they're in real life so things get messed up unlike in movies where everything's perfect

Midnight Violex there were many mistakes made in this. So it is most likely that it was on purpose. Im sure they wouldn’t keep in all those in if it wasn’t suppose to be like that.

Tons of people hate the ending but I think it was a great twist on everything. If it ended normally it wouldnt have a the big end scene and There wouldnt have been a segway to a third film. A third film has so much potential from the way the movie ended.

Really good! Although I feel like this scene was one take, and they had no redos. Like at 0:41, when they're doing the menu thing, Ross doesn't pick up the menu when Maia does, but still moves like he had. And of course there's Maia dropping her hat, like everyone else mentioned.
Ross wasnt suppose to. as you can see the person that gives ross the towel comes in late and the beat goes fairly well as Brady says "always cloudy" and his hands make a cloudy figure before getting the menu again.

For everyone noticing Maia's hat-grabbing mistake, there's two more botches I noticed: in the very beginning when they're sitting at the vanity, Ross' white powder stuff doesn't get thrown like Maia's, and when they are sitting at the table with menus, either Maia takes her menu away too early or Ross takes his away too late :p

for the people still confused about why mack and Brady forget about each other,here's the simplified version.
Brady's love of wet side story is the thing that led to them relaxing together and dating in the first place. Thanks to mack telling Lela she could change the movie, wet Side story was replaced by Lela queen of the beach. This means that Brady and mack forgot their relationship since the old movie is responsible for it existing. Due to this, mack's love of the new movie is what leads to them starting their relationship.

I loved this movie and for people who are mad about the ending which was not as good as the first but still good the ending was when tanner and lela return to their movie world mack and brady forgot about each other because lela changed the movie into another different movie of herself as she follows mack's advice to change it and make her own destiny so mack and brady met in the summer beacause if the movie doesn't exist brady won't like to surf and as he and mack share the love of surfing and mack liked him because he loves surfing like her so when lela will be the leading character it changed to be Mack's favourite movie instead of brady's and the time turns to their meeting day when mack shows the movie on the Save the Beach Dance she told brady that his movie inspired her ro surf and he was surprised by her that he never met a girl that can surf so he fall in love with her and at the ending they intoduce themselves to each other and that's the ending i hope everyone will understand it as i did and by the way this song is so awesome!!

(1) Before lala and tanner left, mack told lala to change the movie, so even though tanner and lala made it back, the change of the movie also changed the way mack and brady met, so since it changed, mack and brady forgot eachother but then met again

(2)Mack gave lala a bracelet before lala and tanner left, so even though they made it okay and mack and brady forgot eachother but when they met again and were at the big screen together. mack saw the bracelet on lala's wrist and mack noticed that lala and tanner made it okay and so did brady so they remembered eachother again
