If I were you I would blank off the two rear clack bushes and use the front ones. That way you are not putting cold water into the hottest part of the boiler. Your steam collector pipe will be okay where it is, so long as it is shortened. Shame someone has put the wrong diameter bush into the boiler barrel. I would strongly advise you put an oil clack into the bottom of the steam tee, they are not very difficult to make. If I can help further please ask best regards Roy
Hi Roy, I can't thank you enough for the comprehensive reply! 😀 That's an interesting point of view on the clack bushes. I get the impression that the previous owner was experimenting with his own ideas on this loco. Since making this video I have done more research into lubrication and discovered drawings for a hydrostatic setup, on the forum, but I'll discuss that more in a future video. Episode 5 is me repairing the inner steam dome.
