Bird Fair: Charlie vs Packham, Avery and Tingay

- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- Charlie faces the founders of Wild Justice in a debate about grouse shooting at Bird Fair 2019. With Chris Packham, Ruth Tingay and Mark Avery dominating the media debate about grouse shooting in recent months, Charlie introduces two new topics: the lies he says they have been spreading about raptor persecution, and the physical attacks on gamekeeping and shooting that have been taking place since their summer campaign against driven grouse-shooting. With the government committed to working with grousemoors owners and manager, he asks why these three bird activists are still committed to trying to ban grouseshooting.
Unbelievably well done!
The Gun Shop he did us proud Johnny
Well done Charlie, you are doing more to defend the sport then most!
@A UA-cam channel shut up prick have you seen the olympics you twat
@A UA-cam channel You haven't got a clue what you're talking about!😡😡😡😡
Credit to you standing up in front of that audience and keeping your calm, talking clearly and intelligently. Well done.
I myself am a shooter, what Charlie has done here took courage, he went into a hostile environment where he couldn’t win! But he did his best to fight his corner.
People may criticise me for this, but the way I interpret Chris Packam is pretty simple. He understands the conservation needs of shooting and the work the game keepers and land owners do. As a community why do BASC or DEFRA not sit down and produce a scheme of some description for moors and land owners to buy into. Throughout the season record all data, how many foxes taken, how many poults lost to predators. Create a suitable list of traps, record data from the success of these traps etc. Surely then we can call some sort of truce on the situation. We provide the evidence that they want, we record the numbers of hen barriers, golden plover etc. If a bird is caught in a trap record this. Again in my opinion, the shooting community just want to hate this man and his cronies. Why can we not take on board his criticisms, focus on improving us as a community and growing.... instead of letting them tell more lies and spout false data to their growing followers!! Give them accurate recorded data from responsible land owners! People can then enjoy days on the moor shooting, knowing that they are doing so on a responsible owners land who follow identified laid down best practices!
Richard Waterston excellent response with perfect suggestions
"hostile environment" The Bird Fair - hostile environment Jesus H. I've seen some idiotic comments on here like "Charlie got balls" ha ha ha but your Richard is by far the most deluded of all. Give the man a coconut.
The sheer arrogance on the left hand side of that stage was unbelievable, and Avery was uncivil, patronising and rude.
Charlie I salute you. Well done. I was recently discussing with a shooting buddy how the entire "them and us" situation has been recently and how change needs to come about, something which you also have eluded to recently. A debate with Wild Justice and representing the shooting communities voice has been a long time coming, and I am so glad that you have been a lead in this. Its such a shame that organisations much larger than Fieldsports Britain (one of which I am a member) have not pursued challenging Wild Justice to the same level you have. I would gladly cancel my membership to this national body and sign up to FSB today as I feel you have now made a massive in-road to having a sensible discussion and preserving what so many of us believe in.
The issue that gets me is that "them and us" are on two ends of the spectrum, however their view, their support, their ability to shout louder seems more apparent. I believe the way that change will come about would be in two ways. One, the science behind how managed moorlands and grouse shooting is beneficial, so these are the statistics, research, etc.. Secondly in a visual way, which is Fieldsports core strength, showing clearly how moorlands and grouse shooting is carried out and the biodiversity it provides. There is a story to be told here and it would be great to capture what is done and why it is done, putting to bed any claim that WJ is making.
Well done - tough crowd! I actually think Chris Packham and Charlie would make an interesting podcast.
Well done mate 10 out of 10 u took all 3 of them on and came out on top !!!!👍👍👍👍
Very grown up, sensible debate. Good to see wee jimmy krankie involved. Didn’t know he was a raptor fan
Well done You. That was a valient and great effort. When can you take over BASC your balls are needed.
Why isit three versus one? And why can’t the opposing side pronounce their Rs?
Charlie you absolute legend of a man! Well done
Its going to be an uphill battle to get these guys to understand. I take my hat off to Charlie! 👊👊👍
I'm seeing Charlie in a 'whole new light', well done.
Well done for facing them. The man with the blue t-shirt nailed it - there needs to be more dialogue with the gun group. This will forge a settlement of some sorts rather than the draconian out right ban they are pushing for.
Sham it's to little consiquence, but big thanks to Charlie and the Feild Sports Channel for making an effort and fighting out side.
Keep up the good work
It’s great you got to do this just a shame it couldn’t have been longer, 3 plus a crowd against 1 didn’t give you the time needed but still a big thumbs up 👍
Three against and one for shooting, not quite a balanced argument. But well done talking is the way forward
Balls of steel you must have Charlie lad .good job ,
Come on all these people at that meeting, commit to each give £ 10000. Out of your own pocket. No? Yep. Talk is cheap!
Good effort Charlie. Can’t fight stupid with logic but well done.
the attitude of the women is very poor. Charlie rose above it admirably. Credit to Charlie.
Your days are numbered shooters, the game is up - says The Spectator.
Sounds more like something private eye would say.
Well done Charlie!
Well done Charlie and the fieldsports team.
Well done Charlie, good debate in front of a very brain washed audience! Frustrating times with people hanging on every word what these people say. I am a shooter, angler, follower of hounds but also love wildlife but feel that social media has given these people a platform to turn opinion against countryside people and the way it is managed. I am angry and disapointed that this happening!
Thanks Bryan - I agree. We have to find a way of telling our story better on social media. The antis get the quick win of loving fluffy bunnies because it extends their virtue. / Charlie
Tingay 'dont tell me that you dont no how they r' Charlie 'no i dont and i would like you to tell me who they are' Tingay 'read the blog' ... yeh really helpful
Well done Charlie or should I say Daniel as in lion’s den.
I have studied under top consultants who have sustained my belief in grouse shooting and game shooting in general. This is my first blast at them publicly which after many years has taken some control. I have remained within the law and petitioned using factual evidence to support shooting of game at higher levels. That is how we in the field are taught.
I take exception to the likes of Chris Packham who deliberately falsify their statistics to warrant adulation. Why on earth would you buy, rent or other a property in the middle of an historic hunting park and then try to change the opinion of those around you who live off the land. These are the people who are presenting us with facts from generations of hunters. After all if they were not factual they would have starved themselves out of the countryside. This smoke screen using unlawful predatory control is a motive to continue their takeover of the countryside which will not sustain wildlife to watch or photograph for their viewing pleasure. They really are complete idiots with tunnel vision. Facts are facts and the truth will out. I look forward to seeing their embarrassed faces again in the future.
Keep up the good work Charlie and co. You are certainly not alone. Fact.
Yours in shooting
Sir David
Avery looks like a sweaty mess 😂 brilliant well done Charlie brilliant job .
I felt the opportunity to refute actions and lies was not made well enough on this occasion.
Well done for getting on the stage and receiving some assurances from the opposition but I don't think the audience left with any thought provocing comments from our side of the fence.
Maybe clarity on subjects discussed needs to be more forthcoming especially when having this type of opportunity.
And not the points which where at times quickly passed over, some I even misunderstood.
Keep it up Charlie.
Thanks for this. I didn't want to get bogged down into a Mark Avery yes-you-are-no-I'm-not fight, so I had to let most of the facts go. I knew that, because we owned the media, we would have time to provide factcheck captions. I had a long list of questions to ask, to get them out into the public media. I only had time to do two... I hope there's a next time. / Charlie
Brilliant Charlie, utter Pro 3 on 1 and u done us proud
Thanks
Well Jacoby Wan have to admire your pluck but it all felt a little weird and contrived by the extremists. The actual Faq Checks needed more screen time.Debating amicably with extremists who incite and then deny forms of terrorism in our rural areas is an unenviable task especially when their main recruitment is drawn from the non rural population hence the numbers .Carrying the flag is admirable and yes they do sing a different tune when it suits their purpose as you exposed.Feel this saga has a lot more time to run. There are people in supposedly confidential, responsible organisations leaking information to these people in the form of private personal details and locations resulting in usually nocturnal unlawful incursions where folks live and work legally. You will never change fanatical ideology with any great success as is well proven.Best course is to channel all positive energy into defending ourselves against it.This means all have to do their bit from bottom to top.
well done Charlie
Chris Packham was a taxidermist in is younger years irony
I recommended his book because, by his followers' standards, it is a catalogue of animal cruelty. The man on the stage before us, Iolo Williams, had said egg collectors should be flogged. He hasn't read Packham's book 🙂. / Charlie
Amazing job Charlie
Wish I could read faster
These 3 are quite ignorant about conservation and are only interested in a few sound bites to make the clearly biased audience laugh. It’s like getting a 1 yr old to laugh. They’re not open to a proper discussion.
1% vs. 99 %....LOL Great.
Avery didn't get that size eating veggies! A green townie to the back bone well done Charlie we need people like you here in Ireland
Hi Charlie, good job yesterday and I thought the fact checks being flashed up was a great piece of thinking. Pity it couldn't have happened in real time. The arrogance of Tingay and Avery is quite breathtaking. Packham, less so, though he did play the victim on the 2 dead crows hung on his gate. No sympathy for the man that encourages his cultists to naughtiness.
Avery and Tingay were laughable in their counter-factual assertions. Trying then to demonstrate their "I'm a scientist" credibility having already had their assertions corrected by facts was enjoyable.
Great news that "they" don't want to stop any shooting and something to Tweet again and again and again every time they say they want to ban shooting. Tingay let her mask slip when she said she wanted all grouse shooting stopped before quickly orrecting it to driven grouse shooting.
Last point, anyone that is breaking the law in the name of "conservation" or "wildlife management" should realise they are doing Packham, Avery and Tingay a huge service and doing a huge disservice to all the rural communities in the UK.
Great job, thanks very much and membership subscription trebled to hopefully help out.
All the best, CJ
@Yo Yo _ is a god maybe its because I don't have a UA-cam channel, you diviet 😆😆😆😆
Fair play Charlie, you stepped into the squared circle greatly out numbered and came out unscathed and head high.
Thanks for the support.
How patronising is Chris Packham ? Yes all the welsh sheep farmers can just diversify with tea rooms and pony trekking such a generalisation of an industry furthermore why should people give up there land ? Remember where your lentils com from ! Not to mention soya milk !
That went well ,Charlie you are a brave man to do that, and inteligent.
I think its about time BASC made Charlie their spokesperson as I've heard more in the defence of the shooting industry in half an hour than I have heard out of anyone else period...... well done Charlie keep the pressure on.....I think you may have them reaching for a bird book... great also to see the fact brought up as well but how you get those three to read them is beyond me as they dont understand the concept of truth...
Thanks David
Well done Charlie. I think you did a great job in hostile ground.
I also think it was very arrogant for Mike Avery to say that I'm a scientist therefore I know and your not so you don't.
I'm a scientist, too. And playing that card disqualifies a scientist. Because the argument matters, not the mouth uttering it
A true scientist would know that the whole point of science is to challenge science constantly.
Avery is a narcissistic Moron.
How uneasy did Avery and Tingay look, Peckham is quite good when put on the spot, avoid him, the other two are ripe to say something that would hurt their cause, focus on them.
well done Fieldsports well done charlie.
Charlie Maximus Jacoby: Are you not entertained?
Well done Charlie. How the hell you managed to keep your cool when talking to three infuriating know-alls who actually know f-all is beyond me. It's taken me a while to watch this all the way through because I kept losing my rag with the smug bastards.
Sorry but CP reminds me of a 1980s Action man with the eye lever in the back of its head ! Well done Charlie top work mate.
Brilliant video Charlie and well represented!
Is it me or is Packham wearing fake tan? Looks very orange 😂
Fake News !! 😂😂😂
Very well done Charlie and all the more so for doing it in the lions den!
I really appreciate that you are engaging in debate rather than building walls and do it in a friendly and intelligent manner.
Good show.
Give charlie a knighthood!! Lots of love, the shooting community
lol
The only person with a gong there is Packham, suck it up.
Omg! You legend. This is big, Charlie well bloody done!!!!!
BASC take note. Excellent Charlie. This should be viewed as the benchmark of how to debate an issue and maintain your standards.
Its sad that the lack of education in the people who don't know anything about what they are talking about do they even know why they're against it or do they just need something to be angry about
Also first
Charlie you mean yes.
Ruth didn't come across well at all. Flustered..
What a bunch of misfits,3 of them...
Public should decide. You mean the public who don’t have a clue about most of what goes on and are being filled up with the BBC BS?
3 total headaches well done Charlie very well spoken
ONE MAN V 200 Tree huggers
Well done Charlie. A shame this couldn't have also happened at the Game Fair. Togive some balance to the audiences.
Join this channel and support the work the FSB guys are doing.
Thanks. / Charlie
Finally get a chance to put your point across Charlie👍 stalking for stories fishing 4 facts
Says a lot about someone’s arguments when they have to constantly make like snide digs at someone unlike Charlie that stuck to the facts and made them stubble and trip over their own argument.
Charlie you stayed professional from start to finish and I commend you!
Thank you for standing up for those that chose our way of life.
Love the show!
All the way of Perth Australia!
You were fantastic Charlie. I could not have kept my cool under that pressure. 👍 Your the man Charlie
i wonder what side of this argument would think im, a weirdo i have hunted with harris hawks red tails buzzards and eagle owls and i shoot air rifles i would never shoot any bird of prey packham is a crank
Thanks charlie, thought you had taken too much on there, glad you proved me wrong. I really do on individual occasions think some of the photographic evidence is set up for the media drums. Keep the pressure on them Field Sports channel
Charlie brilliant pure knowledge and factual this is what we need in our corner all across the shooting community
charlie, you will never l convince who dont want to know views
Or FACTS!!!
Avery ? scientist ! lolololol
Tingay ? Such a dooor loooking miserable bugger !
Twatham ? Ponse !
It's PONCE
George Allan...pay attention to adverts....you need Grammarly
@@fencer39 , lololol consider my wrist slapped !
Well done charlie it just goes to show that you can't educate pork!
Well played Charlie,
The single most prominent guardian of the countryside we have fighting our corner.
Keep up the incredible stance
Happy hunting
Congratulations Charlie. You held your ground and kept the other 3 in check with actual facts rather than opinion, educating a hostile audience. You represented the field sports side fantastically. Keep up the good work
Well done Charlie!
These guys have very narrow vision.
100% right with regards to managed moors. The counts are always massively higher on managed compared to none managed! None managed often appear baron of life!
I’m currently on a managed moor and it’s full of life! Snipe, golden plover, grouse etc! A moor next door is baron because it’s not managed!
And no one would use a fen trap to kill a BOP! Very few in the shooting world will agree with killing raptors! I’m a falconer as well as shooter. Keepers put extra birds down on pheasant/partridge shoots to cover natural waste! This helps raptor numbers, simple.
Charlie you are the man! You held your head high. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee were their usual bumpsios selves and the poison dwarf a poor support act.
Charlie you are a frikkin' legend. Trying to find a point of contact with those who do not wish to find that middle point. Like Daniel you've entered the lion's den. More power to you! The voice of reason, amidst the clatter of bullshit. I REALLY love you to bits Charlie.
Thank you Charlie and the field sports crew
Seriously well done Charlie! That takes guts, intelligence and major effort! Our industry can't thank you enough for what you're doing on a daily basis now! 👏👏👏
I have no issues with people's opinions! But their opinions effect people. Can they not understand environment, wildlife etc.... Is all about money as is everything on life. If there is no business farming, rearing etc, there will be no wildlife, just one big housing estate.
"We can do this, we can take this from them and give it those…." Bloody generous with everyone else's' money aren't they?
Do these 200 people think that the country side is like it is because god made it that way. For hundreds of years country people have managed the landscape. Wildlife evolves and adapts and has done since man walked this earth
I think just goes to show just how mis-informed Wild Justice are, the bling leading the blind without doubt.
Cracking debate Charlie, you took on a marquee of bird brains 👍😂
My heartfelt thanks to you Charlie for taking part in the interview/debate.I absolutely applaud your continued efforts in support of our cause.
I have no idea how the system works, but am continually frustrated with any media debate, whereby the time allowance is so restrictive that questions and statements are not fully answered or quantified. I feel, despite your very best efforts, that it was a prime opportunity lost, to educate some of the public into the misdirection that Packham, Avery, and Tingay are so skilled at, with of course their media backing. When Chris talked of carbon footprints, I would have questioned him on his personal business interests/gains and therefore his contribution of C02, and then asked the public to Google it. The recent success of the Hen Harriers on managed Grouse moors, etc. I do feel, its potentially dangerous to ask them questions and then not to supply the real answer, and just hope the public are confused. I would like to see that the public are educated into understanding the untruthful propaganda put forward behind these three individuals.
Thank you again Charlie. Please continue to uphold our way of life
Kind regards
Marc
One hell of a job there, Charlie. Great work, very professional, incredibly impressive.
Woodscrew; Well done Charlie ,out numbered but you stood your ground and won the battle showed the opposition as a bunch of losers
You clown He lost and back off the serious questions, you are deluded.
@@droitwichblue you need a hearing aid and a visit to Specsavers, he told the facts as they are not fairy stories by his three apponents, and by the way I have never worked in a circus 🤔
Charlie's 100 billion brain cells against their 3 unfair contest lol
Tingay and Avery do not come across well, very biased very angry and only believe what they want to believe...... Unfortunately as much as I hate to say you can see why Packham is the frontman ..... Well done going into the lions dens Charlie
The Lions Den lol. The Bird Fair is now The Lions Den pmsl!!! You muppets.
There that far up there own arses it’s crazy fair play keeping your cool Charlie I wouldn’t have be able too
Well done Charlie, we need more representatives from the shooting community like yourself to educate the masses. It's always going to be a struggle to make people from city lives understand the country life.
Well done Charlie.i thought you were very brave going into that environment and facing that trio solo.
Well done Charlie, you took over the show.
Sorry but I,m afraid he was taken as a joke,he was in the lions den and Chris and company had their fans to help them,Charlie did well but he had a mountain to conquer, get them on level ground and we will see what Charlie is made of,he has to counter their lies and myths and show them the reality of their proposals and what it will really achieve just for their agenda. We are looking at a wildlife desert with little income and less jobs and the break up of rural communities, another clearance of the moors and uplands, they will be singing ballads for hundreds of years of the break up of the land.
Well done Charlie. Just gone way up in my estimation.
Well done Charlie - brave! However there needs to be more done so that those that have pulled on the anti shirt will read or even listen to "Factchecks" displayed throughout. Your audience was sitting in front of their messiahs their gods their leader and then there are us who have watched you perjure yourself on their belief. If you want to win this and I agreed with some of what the panel said and all of what you were saying (trying to at times) but your well intention-ed effort in a lions den meant you are just meat. We need a bigger stage a bigger everything to change this minority groups No 11 volume. I have spent the last forty years plus hunting fishing and shooting and at no time during that time can I say I have seen this massive upturn in just about every bird and mammal species apart from salmon and seatrout that is but we don't shoot them!! Is it because I'm retired and have the time? Perhaps but I feel that this is not the case. Lets have some counting on the country pursuits side done and published through the "Mail" if that's what it takes/that's were the wins are. i.e. Despite shooting as a management tool Red Deer and Roe Deer numbers are increasing!!
Love him or hate him,Chris packham can have a civilised, sensible, respectful debate, which is better then the emotive shouting slanging matches that often occur.
Agreed
You are a very brave man Charlie and your knowledge of these statistics had to be pin point accurate since they would dissect every little thing you said looking for mistakes in their view.
Fair play Charlie well done. Interesting that when you highlighted that there is bio diversity on grouse moors Ruth Tingay's only comment was 'are you joking' surely she could have provided some facts to disprove this? One the line 'I'm a scientist and you are not' followed by 'here is something I wrote as I know you don't do much reading' came out they lost all credibility.
I am not an expert or have great knowledge of running a Driven Grouse Moor but one thing I am convinced of do away with it ,a lot of owners will not look after moors to the same level of care or management because walked up will not offer margin over costs 50/75 % of keepers jobs would be lost that's with out all staff that look after a day's shooting plus hotel income but one thing I am positive of if it happens then you will see a real decline in all other species birds of pray will increase for sure for a few years until they have eaten up the population of Grouse that is left then what happens they will eat a large portion of the other birds that are left and so they decline.
well done Charley but member you can't educate pork
Wow, Mark Avery is one self righteous, condescending sanctimonious, bordering on fascism individual. Its unfortunate that there are plenty of sheep to follow him.
Ruth Tingay could do with lessons in manners what a condescending bitch she is.
If the big man could get up to the grouse up these hills I'll give him a £10 (£10more than the beaters). If this show was in Scotland it would be very different show of hands.🏴
Good on you Charlie. These people are not living the tales they spin.
