This song reminds me of "The Man Who Sold The World" when Nirvana covered in when they did MTV Unplugged. They nailed it (while also making it their own). Silversun Pickups nailed this. Beautiful.
I can't help but hear this version as the soundtrack to a vampire movie. It's all coming to a head, its getting dark and the shadows are gathering.... "Don't even hear the murmur of a prayer It's not dark yet but it's gettin' there."
Dylan does a version available on UA-cam with Eric Clapton who appears to be impressed with Bob’s lead guitar work. Has anyone reading this comment visited this particular version ?
Hello Bob Dylan fans, come inside his Music Box thebobdylanproject.com/Song/id/457/Not-Dark-Yet and listen to all the great versions of this classic song.
this is by FAR the worst cover on the album.. coming from a casual fan of silversun pickups, and a massive, massive dylan fan. HUGE disappointment in every way.
Couldn't disagree more. I loved this tune as done by A SSPU and didn't even know it was a Dylan tune until recently. The original by Dylan sounds like whiny, scratchy, drunken garbage.
Kevin Lajoie I wouldn't diss the original like the other guy did, but I do think they nailed this pretty fine, as long as you don't compare it 1on1 to the original.
@@Boris-eh7en It's not a 'great' cover.. but probably not a song that anyone could do very well I think. It's alright, the latest cover "Toy Soldiers" is an excellent example of a great cover.
I listen to this over and over. My favourite song of all time. Highly evocative and melancholic. Superb
This is a great cover by the Silversun Pickups.

@Evan Hodge yes, that is what the concept of "MAKING it their own" means.
I am a hard core Dylan fan, this is one of my favorites of his. I like this cover, and I like the sspu.
Me too
still the best version
I added this to my not dark yet playlist after about 10 seconds in, #32.

Beautiful
Snoop dogg yet but its getting there~

The original is beautiful and this one did it justice. Idk what y’all are on about.
