Today, I take a look at Ryan's channel RJCMedia who is a reseller specializing in cleaning out retail stores of good deals to flip online for a super marked up profit.

Hey I’m calling it how it is…pickin preacher told me, I wouldn’t be as far as I am and my collection if I wasn’t on UA-cam. I mean the connection and the friendships I understand. My collection would have been fine without UA-camrs etc spilling secrets and putting them on here…yes it has grown but probably would have grew bigger than what it is if people didn’t know everything already.
Idk man I was ok with it… if everyone else is doing it why not…might as well join them and make it harder! And he actually has a full time job and it was hard for me to keep up with him…I can’t imagine hanging with Kodi with a k for day.

i'm a college graduate student and i've been collecting and playing retro stuff for well over a decade now. even though i am fine financially, i can't really afford to spend the going rate for what a lot of these games and systems go for nowadays on a college instructor's salary. i've been going to flea markets/garage sales/thrift stores/etc since i was very little, and it's something i love doing to this day. though i like to stay optimistic, people like this make it incredibly and frustratingly difficult to continue this as a hobby. there is no love or enthusiasm for these games with resellers, it's all about what will make them the most profit while screwing over the people who want to play and enjoy them without spending an arm and a leg.
i will say that lately i've had a lot of luck with importing things from japan because things there are still relatively cheap, but even those are starting to dry up now because of resellers :/

I sniped a GameStop trade in once. The guy had a shitty gamecube bundle, a broken ps3, a 360 bundle, a switch bundle, an iPod lol. GameStop offered him $230 and this guy had like 5-6 first party switch titles. The employee went to the back. I offered the guy $300. Done deal. I wouldn’t defend GameStop they fuck you hard. On top of that I can’t count how many times I’ve received fake video games from them in the retro section. I’ll buy multiples just for that reason. Once I purchased 5 copies of demon crest for snes from them. Every single copy some asshole swapped the board for a madden or other sports title. Every single one I returned. The fact that they didn’t test the game to make sure what it was before sending it out or the fact that they did and still sent it out is horrible business practice. I wouldn’t defend them one bit. Fuck GameStop! I hope they go under or change the way they do business.

Funny cause 3 years after this happen I purchased my first storage unit, only bought it cause the photo had a lord of the rings board game(which sadly was empty) and Beatles records, but low and behold the clerk was the guy who I bought the stuff from lol.
That’s why they have a return policy :) but hey I’m not interested in defending GameStop either other than the fact that a lot of gamers have to rely on their stores for games. Some don’t have a choice unless they want to buy online from resellers who charge more

They actually changed their return policy to charge people $8.99 who can’t make it to a physical store for a game return and $14.99 for a console return. Hey, we’ll send you a pile of fucked up shit and make you pay even more money to return said pile of fucked up shit back to us. So I can see why Amazon prime sales are probably way up and the go for people without a store close by.
Last time I was at a Gamestop was for Halo 3 midnight release. And I hope everyone has common sense to NOT go to Amazon for retro games

7:14 I don't know about GameStop in other parts of the world, but in my country, that haul would only go for max $100-120. It still is a shame that the games are not going into the hands of customers, but I think the guy certainly gave the seller more money than GS would ever offer.

Nobody is buying his used games for $60 - and even if they did he's gotta give Amazon their hefty cut and deal with the shady buyers who will try to rip him off ("yea, Amazon, the case was just empty - there was no disc in here"). He'll probably still manage to lose money. He's definitely not making money on the ones he paid $10 plus tax for when gamestop couldn't sell them for $17. Especially factoring in he will have to buy some sub-optimal games to get to a multiple of 4.
I think the whole concept of a reseller video is the hypothetical profit most of the time. It makes for a cool video to say I paid this and made this. But a lot of people take it to heart I bet.
@@steviefreakinc Yea it's basically just lying because they know from past experience (and common sense) that they aren't getting what they claimed - but they think that's what everybody wants to see. I'd be much more interested in seeing the fails myself. Bought this for $100 and didn't realize it was missing a part so I only got $15 for it.

I think the worst is that scalpers tries to make entertainment out of it by making UA-cam videos. That way they influence people to do the same, no wonder why the game prices are so inflated.

Not going to lie, out of all of them the only one I watch is Kody. Videos are incredible and the majority of his finds are just from trading which pretty much any of us could do, not like the above scum bag raiding stores and hassling customers outside a video game store. pretty disgusting.

Man, these people make it hard to give things away. They say things like "im not rich, so your charity is still helping someone. why do you care if i actually keep the item or not, the point is that it went to someone in need...."
Dude, im not a government funded charity entity. I remember a time when I couldn't afford nice things, like a solid wood kitchen table, tv stand, non polyester garbage clothes, toys (as a kid), etc. Nowadays, these things (especially quality versions of them) cost so much money, that its hard for even middle class people to afford them.
I'm in my 30s now, and am pretty stable. Instead of donating something to goodwill (only for them to sell it for retail price, because of resellers and corporate greed), i wish i could just.... give someone who really needs a TABLE, my fucking table.
I dont want to give someone a nice $1500 table for $0, only to have them sell it for $950 on ebay. Sure, they made $950... But a poor family/person without a table, or with a super shitty one, is now priced out of MY donation. This defeats the ENTIRE reason why i want to give my nice things away.
My donation is now just another expensive table, meant for someone who can afford a nice table. Meanwhile, the reseller is simply a middle man, and has done absolutely nothing but absorb.
These resellers don't need the money simply because they literally dont have furniture, or toys, or the bare minimum. There are PLENTY of non shitass ways to make extra money. They're profiting off charity and generosity, taking it for themselves, and then charging others for the kindness they receive.
I do not want to be $ for someone's side hustle. Their profit = a family in need doesn't have a necessity, or only has bottom of the barrel selection left over. They act like there is just this massive influx of donations to the point where things are being thrown away. Sure, maybe with these trash Shein and Temu clothes, but not with quality furniture or collectibles.
The spirit of a "good deal" or the kindness of a stranger disappears the second these people show up. But they don't care, everything is about them. "Thats just the way the game is played", they say. Yeah dude.... its played by people like you. The people that generous, charitable people avoid at all costs.
PS thank you for your channel. There aren't enough people willing to give these slugs the shit they deserve. They appear in packs and defend eachother, lol.

When you get a lot you take everything. You bundle the shitty games or unplayable ones with the system you got in the bundle to make your money back or in his case he doesn’t do system bundles. He gathers all his worthless titles and takes them to a retro ricks store to get trade credit and buy grails with. I’ve been doing it for over two decades…it’s a tactic in the reselling world of video games.
He started making videos the same reason I did. It’s one less game that retro Rick, resell, chase, or wright way get.

The worst part of him sniping the deal at gamestop is the end result of gamestop losing business.
Sniping businesses opportunities to make money causes businesses to shut down and that means the community (town/city) loses some jobs which also means less money flowing through the local economy.
I'd rather gamestop die by being replaced by local stores, than crashing and burning with nothing to replace it and its space in the economy.
Also Gamestop could be the only local store for gamers around there. So it hurts them too.

Not really protecting Gamestop but more like protecting gamers that have to rely on Gamestop for buying games in store. Gamestop could be their only option within a reasonable distance.
I’ve been a pro member since 2011 and never experienced anything negative. Came up on so many rare games at GameStop. Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, Valkyrie Profile for ps1 to name a few. I don’t blame them for kicking fools out who are trying to make a deal in the store. Wait till you get to the parking lot homie hahaha.

You're right, I played Fatal Inertia and it's 🗑. These scummy resellers just wanna shill for it now to sell it for triple or more. There are so many better futuristic racing games out there for different consoles: Any F-Zero, any Wipeout, Any Fast (Racing League, Racing Neo or RMX), any Extreme-G, Scorcher, Quantum Redshift, etc.

He does and he’s a cool dude and does collect. He told me that the reason he started doing it was because he didn’t want to pay Phoenix resell, Chase, or retro ricks prices, can’t beat them join them. Make it harder for everyone.

Those pinball games are very limited print and are insanely fun, especially the marvel pinball one. The stern pinball on switch is very hard to find and quite expensive because it has all the tables already
Nobody likes to shop at scumstop besides resellers. I haven't stepped foot in a lamestop in forever and probably never will again. Im all about my local stores , and i know most of the owners in my area and they always take care of every customer.

Most stores would stop it. Guess Gamestop is a little more laid back on that policy. We didn't really approve of it when I worked at Gamestop but people had to leave the store to do personal sales.

The whole reselling vs scalping debate is such a non-starter. It's so basic. they're always like "what about a business buying from a supplier and selling to you? they're a reseller, are they scalping?!?!" No, because that business is adding supply to the market at or below RRP. scalpers out there however removing products from the market to reintroduce them at a higher rate.
it's simple.
"Are you removing product from the market to sell at a higher price?"
- if yes, then you're scalping. And as scummy as it can be I'd have no problem with them if they just came out and said it. Hell my local supermarket stopped carrying video games and to clear old stock they were selling them for 40% RRP. I grabbed games i didnt intend on playing at all, i just wanted to trade them into my local game shop for credit towards PS3 stuff, didn't clear the shelves at all, there were still copies of each game on the shelf when i walked out, i'm still a bit of scumbag for doing it though, i'll admit it
They really try as hard as they can to convince themselves and others that they’re not scalping but they are.
