    I live in Brazil and made friends who also loved the Carpenters when we went to the airport to see their departure. I saw this article on tv! Thanks for showing it again! She made an everlasting wonderful impression with that sublime voice…

    Karen was and still is the BEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF ALL TIME.I only think of all the music she could have recorded.Had the pleasure of seeing 2 Carpenter concerts.Simply the best.

      The closest to perfect I've ever heard..listened to their recordings, and live shows...never heard any crackling, off key, scratchiness..flawless execution...

    Karen Carpenter was absolutely astounding with sounds she could make with her voice. People have said that she had a most soothing voice. That is so true. I listen to her and feel that her voice is like the softest and sweetest touch that is surging over you and into you. It is listening to a magic incantation that somehow becomes ( apart from the imagined) something so very real in a physical sense. A joy to be felt.

      Wow!! What a great description! So true! The way Karen was able and still continues to touch us is magical! I really can't think of anyone else able to make every word so personal to strangers that we feel like she is part of our lives like we knew her.She is my favorite singer and always will be.Nobody like Karen!

    She was in Brazil & her then husband was taking her money. It’s sad to see she still had her wedding set on, but that would all end on November 8th 1981. He was a gold digger that held himself out as a multimillionaire but had nothing. His boats, planes & homes were all lease & not owned to portray himself as something he wasn’t.

    Pela grandeza histórica da banda americana no Pop Mundial, os Carpenter´s mereciam um show bem melhor. Foi horrivel o show deles no Brasil, muito pobre de iluminação, de acústica, feito ás pressas no estúdio do programa Geração 80 da Globo. Podia ter sido no Maracanã, como foi os shows no Rock in Rio onde teve grandes produções de artistas como Queen, Prince, Guns N´Roses etc.

      Na verdade quando os Carpenters vieram ao Brasil em 1981, não foi para fazer shows, mas apenas para divulgarem o então novo álbum deles, Made in America. Aí fizeram pequenos shows promocionais e aparições na TV e rádio, não vieram para cantarem pro público em geral em shows de grande escala. Ficaram apenas 1 semana no Brasil.

    • @renarga6886
      @renarga6886 5 днів тому

      Eles fizeram outros shows, sim, mas muito mal produzidos e organizados. A culpa não é da banda, mas dos empresários que os contrataram aqui no Brasil. Se eu fosse a Karen, teria saído desse país muito P da vida. O Richard, com certeza, saiu. Basta ver a cara de irritado dele em praticamente todas as fotos do grupo no Brasil.

      Eu tinha 7 anos na época. Infelizmente não fui ao show deles, mas meus pais devem ter ido.
