The rear cross traffic alert will be our best new function. We really missed this when we traded in our Misti hybrid for the model 6 back in May..We have to back out of our garage on a short driveway onto a street that has a bit of a hill that other cars often speed down, and it’s also a bike lane where bikes speed down the hill. ‘Why do we have to back out of your garage?’ you might ask? It’s because our model Y has an electric mobility scooter lift so we always park nose first into the garage.
Set arrival energy is a game changer for me. I often travel to visit family and friends that are significantly far away from a charger. I often need to ensure I have enough charge to arrive at my destination and get back to a supercharger the next afternoon.
My relatively “ancient” Model 3P (2019) gets virtually all of this. Absolutely fabulous- WHAT other car keeps getting better and better, and ALL for free!
Months ago, I sent an X msg to Tesla requesting they add security code for access to Sentry and Dashcam videos. Unfortunately, no response. Should be a super easy thing to do since we already have separate glovebox, drive, speed limiter, and valet mode codes.
The weather radar overlay is something we've wanted for a long time that would be very useful. We like to take long road trips and live in the often rainy Pacific Northwest. The radar will make it easier to plan our breaks and supercharging stops where it isn't raining. The charge remaining at the destination setting will save me a little mental math at superchargers, as I like to have different reserves depending on circumstances.
I live in Ontario Canada. We get snow here in patches. Some places can get 20cm of snow while others can get none. It would be great to see what the weather is like at the destination or along the route so we can plan our travel better. I’ve wanted this for a long time.
I could see the visualization thing being used for what Herbert said. For example, the wife and I flew home to PHX on Monday and went to stand at the curbside rideshare area. All of a sudden, like 5 Waymos showed up all at once but there was no confusion because your initials are illuminated on the top hat thingy on each car to let you know at a glance that it's your car. So everyone was easily able to go to their own cars even though they all look identical. Easy peasy! 🙂
Thanks, Brian! I always check my arrival percentage when recharging. My safe limit is 25%, accounting for construction, accidents, and mountain grades.
Synchronized light shows with the Tesla. I’m immediately reminded of that Sunday in Muskegon Michigan when it started raining and everybody’s shouting go to Manual close your doors close your windows😂😂😢😢😢 and one poor guy his windows wouldn’t close
13:18 seat controls. I had Perl for about a week when the part of the passenger seat control was broken off by a passenger accidentally stomping on it as they were exiting the car. Screen control would have been handy, as the replacement parts were 56 USD.
In many areas there simply aren’t enough or aren’t any chargers, so then knowing that you have enough reserve to get back is rather important. The new feature to set energy at arrival is awesome. 👏
I’m not sure how many places are like this, but look up Romney, WV. It’s where I got my first apartment. When I go back to visit, I have to have 100% because there are ZERO Superchargers and very few level two chargers. The owners of those level 2 chargers make it difficult to use them. If it’s that way in one place, I am sure others have to drive an hour in one direction or the other to get to a “fast charger,” even when it’s not a NACS charger. I have had to use a Chademo in the past to get by.
You and I were both there that Sunday and I got the T-shirt to prove it. Wait a minute. I’ll just make the shirt. 😂😂 i’d like to think I have a sense of humor Brian, the Highlander.
Save passenger seat settings. A passenger could get in and select their name on the screen. maybe even remember split heating preferences. Add an automatically save to phone feature to the phone for dashcam footage. After an accident, assuming someone was nice enough to get your phone to you, you would have the footage. It could be continuous or on the event of a collision. Your phone might even real-time back it up to the cloud if you had the storage and bandwidth on your accounts.
@ Hi Brian, love your work. You have no idea how much I hate those buttons for indicators. One of the main reasons why my wife won’t get a Tesla. As well as using the screen to control the vents. (She gets hot and cold flushes)
5:45 the one thing I’ll possibly not like about the new Model Y is the stalkectomies, as I’m a confirmed stalker, so to speak. The S3XY button folks are coming out with a turn signal stall you can add back on, that’ll be my backstop if ever I replace Perl.
@ it will hopefully be a long time before I replace Perl, but if I do it might have to be a different model, anyway, as Python just doesn’t sound like a good name for a Y. Maybe Monte…
I wish they would add a feature where you could restrict walk away auto lock to the vehicle and not the driver. When you have 2 Tesla’s, we park 1 in the garage which i prefer to be unlocked and the other in the driveway locked, so I if drive the one in the driveway and come home it doesn’t lock when I walk away.
I asked Gemini what is better Bz4x or model 3....part of the answer was..."If you prioritize reliability, comfort, and a lower price point, the bZ4X might be a better choice."....what the heck? This is why SMR was always wrong saying that one people realize Tesla is better they will all buy a Tesla....issue is they will never realize this because everyone is paid off to lie.
I have a key fob on my key chain. When it's close enough to the car, the doors unlock with the press of a button on the door handle, and the car starts with the press of a button. Even if I had an Apple watch, I don't know how it would make things any easier. Doesn't Tesla have a similar key fob anyway? This new feature sounds like something that software development managers at Tesla and Apple cooked up. But sure, I wish my Bolt EV supported over the air updates.
Brian, if you can get a message to Elon or the Robo Taxi software team, tell him/them to build in a feature into the App -that shows when you order a Robo cab the estimated time on route say 15 minutes and the cost say $15 at the same time show an estimate for Uber and Waymo… Uber might also be 15 minutes, but $25 or $30 and Waymo might be 45 minutes and $45 - that will be the final nail in the coffin of the so called competitors! 👍🚀🌎💕
More poor my poor Dodge minivan who served me so well it’s gonna be laid to pasture soon. What could be more appropriate than the Highlander by the Highland model three inquiring minds want to know Brian.🤔
Brian, your voice inflections and speed that you speak makes it hard to understand you. Just a friendly comment to request you speak more clearly. Thank you
I liked you better when it was you along, with short programs. Did you know that I never watched Herbert because he makes his programs too long. For that same reason I stopped watching you. I only watch videos that are 10 minutes or less. Anything over 10 minutes is too much.
Thank you Herbert for reminding anyone who doesn't know, these are free OTA updates 👍
Except they just took away music from "Premium Connectivity". You have to pay more for music now.
Not free.
Mercedes and BMW are still aspirational for me, in the sense that I aspire to never have either one, now.

Tesla should lock out ability for deleting videos when in valet mode
Agreed.

Delete the seat control buttons and use the screen only. Best part is no part. Then add in preferred seat positions for passenger. 👍🏻
Absolutely!
Agreed
Physical seat controls are probably some sort of stupid NHTSA requirement
@ exactly. Just like full stops that NHTSA imposed are more likely to get you rear-ended that to do any good.
Tesla FINALLY GIVES YOU cross traffic alert that I have been asking for everywhere. I would like to think they added this because of my multi requests

15:02 PC is also required to view your cameras on the app if the car is not connected to Wi-Fi
The Data Duo Tesla Team are at it again. Thank you both

I would like navigation to add avoid highways.
Having to hit the brake to go from R to D is more input than my car with the stock where I just flick it without any pedal input
Yes, I love being able to brakelessly oscillate (when slow) when three pointing or swapping into reverse to back into a spot
Just installed the watch app this morning. Haven’t tried it yet.

Thanks guys. Great info especially for me--picking up my first Tesla (Model 3 LR RWD) next week.

@@soucyno1 many rural areas in BC still.
Thanks, Brian! I knew if I procrastinated long enough, I wouldn’t have to figure out that plug-in thingy in the glovebox.
Off to the races today!
Ty for the update. I saw this on X , but only skimmed the information. Glad you did this.
Sooooo very cool! Cant wait for the new Christmas 🎄 update and the latest FSD update too!
Sorry I did not realise it was mandatory to comment… Great work, informative, accurate, topical & entertaining what more could you ask 👍😊
You and I were both there that Sunday and I got the T-shirt to prove it. Wait a minute. I’ll just make the shirt. 😂😂 i’d like to think I have a sense of humor Brian, the Highlander.
Can't wait to find out the 2 new lightshow tunes🥰

Yes, yes, yes! So happy for the Apple Watch app. I often use my watch only and leave my phone behind. 🎉
I hate the stalkless indicators, and have pre ordered the new stalks from Enhance, can’t wait to get them.
I trust them most of the 3rd party suppliers.
@ Hi Brian, love your work. You have no idea how much I hate those buttons for indicators. One of the main reasons why my wife won’t get a Tesla. As well as using the screen to control the vents. (She gets hot and cold flushes)
Brian, thank you, great review>. PS, btw, Spotify now has advertisement if you don't have a spotify subscription...

"Emissions" updates are the Best!
Thanks, Brian! I’ve been nervous since I signed up for the giant light show at Chattanooga Charge. Maybe I can use the app.
You just gotta love the name, Highland why does it sound so familiar Brian😂 😂😂
15:02 I think you may need premium connectivity for FSD, and charger availability…
Just got the new update installed. 😊

Thanks!
I loved the moment when Herbert almost referred to publications like Car and Driver as "Jur..." .... Jurassic?
Hi Brian, comment, as you said it was compulsory 😉
13:01 whoopie! 😮😂
17:12 V2F sounds great! Especially in Tesla country… might be a little sparse here in Alabama.
excellent info
I love Sirius XM. Happy to finally have this so I don't need to fiddle with the phone app.
Clearly a recommendation has to be to make the dash cam inaccessible when in valet mode.

Setting your arrival energy requires conditioning the battery
HW3 users are waiting for v13. That's my mandatory comment:)
TuneIn was neutered in my vehicle recently 😢
An fsd question can a tesla with fsd use it whilst towing a trailer that clearly obscures the rear camera?
Towing wasn’t supported as of a few months ago
I heard a while back there was no Autopilot nor FSD when pulling a trailer, don’t know if that has changed.

On a Toyota believe they have to pay for heated seats and for remote start. 😂😂
Bunkwupt-see coming
Cell phone plan has 4-6 years security updates, while Tesla's computer in wheels has virtually unlimited security updates.
Isn't that something!
I have boomerang fu on ps4. It’s an amazing co op game!

Dang, listened to the end of the video again, and now I HAVE to leave a comment. sigh. ( I just do what I'm told Brian! )
Weather maps are critical for everyone, even you

Hey tesla dont forget Samsung watch users.
