i have been in the woods from my mid teens and it amazes me how many people have no concept of walking quietly through the woods. or anywhere for that matter. they couldnt be quiet to save their lives.
Moving without time or destination, best way to be when spending time outdoors. Total sensory awareness, wind direction. Lose your mind and come to your senses excellent knowledge again.
I wonder how autism would affect my ability to be aware of my surroundings. I have to make an effort to reduce sound/light/texture/smell information because my brain doesn't filter like "normal" brains do. Earplugs, noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses, special clothes, special soaps, etc. The way I see it, the possibilities are 1) I'll be at an advantage in comparison to "normal" people, 2) Allowing myself to experience so much information will exhaust me quickly and I'll need a nap, 3) I will hear cars, planes, birds, etc but not be able to hear what I'm looking for 4) some combination of the previous three. Amusing anecdote: I was overstimulated one night, and the house lights were blinding, so I sat on the back porch to reduce the headache. A few minutes out there playing on my phone and I hear an animal walking. There's a coyote, plain as day, a couple meters away. I grab my brother and show him the coyote, but he couldn't see/hear it even though it was RIGHT THERE! I don't know if my eyes were adjusted to the dark or if my autism brain had super-senses or if my brother's ADHD brain had bad senses. There were many times this summer when I laid in my room with the window open and heard critters moving. A buck with two does, and a doe with her fawn were common visitors. I tried to yell at them so they would be scared of humans, but they didn't care. I haven't seen them since hunting season started. Anyway my point is, next time I'm out in the woods, I'll practice this and see what the results are.
Like the Tine'? How can a people outrun and out maneuver the Mounted US Calvary for over three decades on foot in that area? They must have been doing something different, and it wasn't in shit kickers.
good info....and if you are lucky enough to have feet friendly geography if you hike barefoot you have to walk carefully and you naturally walk slow and with your sensory awareness is in touch with nature as well!
Timelessness is the door way to meeting your deer before your stand. "Still hunting" relies on flow rather than point a to point b travel. Without it, the squirrels and birds alarm to your presence. Even in a stand, it takes an average of thirty to forty minutes for the disturbance wave to settle back down to base line. I hope this helps. Good luck this season!
There's no such thing as alpha and beta. There's only good and evil. If you love other people, stay humble, have sympathy and compassion, then you're good. If you think you're better than women and other men because of how selfish and sociopathic you can act, then you're evil and you will be destroyed.
Even more than house cats as they send birds in alarm up to a half mile out in all directions. Add the awareness tools to listen through the silences to detect ones own sphere of disturbance, and than beyond to work the edge of your sphere of awareness. This is the realm of the master hunter and mossy backed old bobcat.

"Listen for the silences." I love that.
Come to Texas, we have honey locust trees. Those things have thorns coming out of thorns that are on thorns. Try walking barefoot here.
don't forget the broken beer bottles from the tailgate parties

There are honey locust and other highly thorny trees/plants throughout much of the U.S. You and Texas are not special 😂
Lol ninja stalking skills for deer in socks I can’t even be involved in this
No worries, more deer to fill our freezers. Just sit back and watch "real life" youtube videos. Nothing to see here.
Excellent teaching

My internal antenna array doesn't detect morel mushrooms. Everyone finds them but me.
Great ideas, but how long would you anticipate it would take me to walk 1 mile through the woods to my stand?

Is there a way to do this in boots? Obviously socks are impractical once the weather gets cold in deer season
Can you do this with shoes on?
More please. Great video. Thank you.
GREAT VIDEO!
I have made it a goal to go from beta to alpha at least once during my work day and once after work. practice practice practice.....and peace

No.
Getting toe-finger shoes, you can directly walk with the soil. Otherwise, leather mocassins.
Very helpful
"Move without time or destination" Love that!
Housecats.
