  • Today I'm fixing a garden mistake that's haunted me for YEARS & completing the Einset Seedless Grape arch with a bareroot grape plant. This video felt like scratching an itch. We have had some salvia plants planted in the wrong location for years and I'm so glad to have it rectified. I'm also really excited to hopefully get some red seedless grapes in a few years for fresh eating. I cannot recommend May Night Salvia enough, and you can always find it on clearance at big box stores in the summertime in my area. Hope you all find some space to grow!

Welcome to CO and it's wind that makes having nice things like greenhouses and gazebos very hard! I'm in Fort Collins. Just wanted to give you a heads up, that grapes will Take. Over. Something no one really talks about. Maybe it's because we don't actively prune them as they're growing, but we literally have a Jumanji situation where the branches/shoots are trying to enter our front door. I cut them about 1x a week. We cut them down to hardly anything in fall, and by the end of summer, there is a wall of greenery that takes half a day to chop back and bring to the brush pile.
When the frost hits, the leaves die and they look like a haunted house landscape til the leaves fall off which takes a month or two. Maybe you know all this all but if not, start reading up on how to prune them as they grow, it's a whole thing which my brain absolutely cannot deal with. Although ours are wine grapes, we've never had clumps that ripen all at once. They ripen, but only a few at a time on each clump, so you have to sort of pick them like blueberries, finding which ones are soft. Just don't want you to get your hopes up like we did when planting ours. Our friends have table grapes and the bees and hornets are a permanent fixture on them when they're ripe fyi.The fruit isn't big like it is in stores also, but they are very sweet.

😩 noooo don’t crush my grape dreams lol jk. Honestly thank you for preparing me! Maybe I’ll plant a clematis there too on the inside of the arch just in case that grape has to go 😅🤣
