This was one of the most entertaining videos of all times Dariush! Thanks for making me laugh so much! Beware you will not get any free "samples" anymore. :P On a more serious tone though: it's high time prices are being discussed more by perfume enthusiasts, as you did today. Brands have become so extremely indecent in their pricing. Especially for the "quality" they are giving us in exchange. These days, I feel the higher the prices get...the lower the quality. Are they testing us? Like: "OMG when will they finally wake up and stop buying our perfumes those silly people... we just started a game and didn't imagine that it would last that long. It was a joke and they took it seriously"...That's the feeling I get when seeing all those recent perfume launches...
Who knows? I think the more depressing fact is that people are buying these things.

I definitely think that a price breaking point for fragrance is an interesting topic for a video, but I believe the argument would get very heated.
Additionally, I feel like many fragrance enthusiasts will like a product on the lower end of the price scale, even with the psychological reasoning behind price. As long as they are content with the fragrance they would be happy! However, those fragrance enthusiasts seek to be in the minority of the market, which is a shame:(

Perseus is actually divine! Don’t love a lot of citrus, but this is my first PDM. It lasted on the blotter for three days, and not to put your nose to, but could smell it laying in bed whilst it sat on my hotel room bedside table.

Tkmaxx and Homesense do get a lot of discontinued lines and older packaged stock and we buy from direct suppliers . I blind bought a La Manufacture fragrance called Admirablis 100mls beautifully packaged and RRP £125 and it’s a beauty and has shalimar and habit rouge nods and was definitely worth a punt with the notes listed and at that price .

Thanks for reassuring me that my nose isn't broken. I tried the Pur Santal and Pur Ambre in Dubai airport sometime in March and was genuinely shocked at how boring they were. With a name like Pur Santal I was hoping for a healthy dose of Mysore Sandalwood but all I got was a weird mix of something woody. Pur Ambre was also unremarkable so I didn't even bother checking their prices at the time.

I'm glad you reviewed the LV scents and talked about price because it proves the point I'd rather spend that sort of money on 10 or so bottles of some wow perfumes even if it means buying it off used from eBay! I think that even if I had that sort of pocket money I'm too analytical to spend it foolisly. I might even donate it to someone near and dear who needs it for a life-saving medical procedure instead - no pun intended!
Well, between the LVs and the CKs, I guess we covered a pretty good range.

LV is aligning its fragrance department with its others, lowering the quality of materials while jacking up prices to absurd levels. 🙄 Carefree 1-percenters, you’re welcome to it all.
I wonder when things will start to plateau a bit, price wise.
@@Persolaise I keep thinking it MUST be soon….🤞Some of these brands are chasing each other for the prestige position of charging the highest prices, and that philosophy seems hard to shift - even with their bottom lines taking a hit from slowing sales to the “lower” classes, and the magic trick of switching focus from a slow to a booming region being hampered by a global downturn. Hopefully it will dawn on someone in a C-Suite that they can make more money by NOT raising prices. (I’m certainly not enjoying saying “no” to something I want and can afford but find its price insulting.)

It’s a strange development that many brand’s most expensive offerings now are also their simplest, most uninspired, AND suggested for layering. Like the new Guerlain extraits or even the Hermes oils like Cardamusc (which I love) but now costs $435 for 25ml. For those prices I’d expect something complete and mind alteringly fabulous. The only perfume to make me feel that way lately is Cuir de Russie parfum which feels like a deal in comparison.
Cynical is the right word for this, and all we can do is get the word out to educate people not to fall for it.
Maybe they really are targeted at people for whom such sums are peanuts.
I had no idea about the Hermes price increases.

1000.00 Euros…OMG that is 1074.12 USD for an LV perfume (😮)…as much as I love fragrance I would put the money somewhere else.. I feel you can get a wonderful fragrance for a much more reasonable price tag. All I can say is Wow.

The LV collection reminds me of what they did with the signatures of the sun collection in AdP. But those are actual interesting compositions
Oh yes, the ADPs are quite different.
I think we've got to remember that a 7.5ml of Chanel No 5 extrait is about £120. Those crazy prices make sense if you look at it like that. Also, The Night etc. is crazily expensive yet people seem to want that, and I'm sure you've spoken about that a few times.
Yes, proportionally the prices are, weirdly, logical. But personally, I'd much rather pay those sums for No 5 than for most of these other offerings.

My own suggestions if I may: Ajmal Amir One and Amir Two are very good. Also Dahn Al Oudh Al Moattaq for a purer Oud experience.
I confess, I'm not an Ajmal expert, but I do like their Dhan Al Oudh Shams.

HG’s Philtre, to me, is reminiscent to Dana’s Tabu (at least the current formula of the Dana).
Not at all what I was expecting based on the notes, but the idea of a love potion is I guess in a similar lane to the Dana.

Can I give a 1000 likes for this video?! The only perfume that has ever even tempted me in this price category is Diaghilev... and that's never happening because my rational brain says it would be stupid. I'm however willing to pay fair prices for independent perfumers, but have no time for this "luxury" bullsh*t. (Catching up with the videos, as I never manage to catch the live streams... )
