One of the only wrestlers who after his matches would have kids come in the ring to dance with him! Quite a decent human being from what I remember! He is missed!
I watched wrestling and totally had this tape!! I thought it was good music 😂 I also didn’t know this was originally done by captain chameleon 😆……it is so beautifully awful
JYD was one of those guys who was mediocre at best in the ring, but his charisma was off the charts and when he joined WWF, people picked up on it and went nuts!
Found out the other day that this is actually a cover of Grab Them Cakes by Captain Chameleon. Both versions have some of the same people performing on them though. Same with Jive Soul Bro.
He was mommas favourite, one day her dad told her they were going Christmas shopping....they pulled up to the pay area and the lady said"have a good night." Momma asked why she said that and as they turned around she noticed she wasn't going Christmas shopping, they went to wwf, apperantly that is one of the only moments she forgot her dad had cancer. He later died when she was 12 he was 33
I never knew, until this very evening, that this and Slick's Jive Soul Bro were cover songs from Captain Chamleon! Both originals were released in 1981. I actually heard them both tonight.
What I miss about 80s WWF is the wrestlers were like real life comic book heroes and villians. Wrestling was holy writ to me and my cousins back then. We had every single LJN action figure.
Looking at a large sized pic of the album I think it's just some generic musician guy with his hands in his ears much like the gray-haired guy behind Vince.
Funny thing is this song isn't half-bad compared to today's garbage on the radio.
Still true 12 years later
I misunderstood the meaning of the song, and now I weigh 500lbs
That was too funny
Bahahahaha! Oh man that was funny!😂
😂🤣😂
That’s funny 😁
I still love this Theme song till this day
Alright Jesse.... Look at the Dog gettin down!!! (Vince Mcmahon voice)
One of the most entertaining Wrestlers of all time, RIP Sylvester

Makes you remember why they are doing it (for the kids)
This was an awesome song, I had this album as a kid, and I played it too death. RIP JYD & Vicki Sue Robinson.❤
I can just picture this song coming out of my cassette player while my JYD LJN figure made his way to the ring like it was yesterday...
JYD and Vicki Sue! May God rest both of their souls.
- Who as a wrestling fan DIDN'T listen to this album growing up?! It was AWESOME & still is today! :) #GrabThemCakes
I watched wrestling and totally had this tape!! I thought it was good music 😂 I also didn’t know this was originally done by captain chameleon 😆……it is so beautifully awful
JYD was awesome. Rest in peace, champ.
Guys a legend. I had pleasure of dancing in ring with him. Memory I will never forget.
Never knew JYD had a song but that's what's up. ✌️
JYD holding it down and grabbing them cakes like a bad ass mutha.... I'm just talkin' bout cakes!
Am I losing my mind or is this song good?
Damn I still have this album. On vinyl no doubt.
slapping to this song in my car RN. RIP Junk doggy

philaman1972 Koko B. Ware was similar. Mediocre at best, but with Frankie as a gimmick, he was a big name.
This proves that the mainstream fan doesn't give a rat's ass about "workrate."
@@fitzgivesfits1 i have to disagree. koko was a speedy high flyer. i'd say he was better than mediocre.
@@mitchcolburn1216 not really when charisma trumps everything else to joe mainsrtream.
JYD was the number 2 babyface behind Hulk Hogan.
shoulda been a bigger star than he was! RIP!
He was a huge star in the early 80's in the Southern territories. He'd headline sold out Superdome shows!
but then he signed with Vince and got stuck in mid-card hell.
He regularly outdrew Hogan in several arenas and Vince DEFINITELY didn't dig that.
@@workingclassrunner The Hulk Hogan of the South at one point in time.
He got messed up with drugs.

Yep that's Legendary Disco Queen Vickie Sue Robinson who sang turn the Beat around. She passed from Cancer in the Year 2000.
Long live The Junkyard Dog! ❤
My cousins lived next door to him when he was in Connecticut. We were so pumped when we met him. Lol
He was mommas favourite, one day her dad told her they were going Christmas shopping....they pulled up to the pay area and the lady said"have a good night." Im entering the hall on my weddind day to this song!
Johnny Redrum 😭😭😭😭😭
I played this cassette to death back in the day.my brother actually gave it to me again for Christmas, but I don't have a cassette player anymore.
This wads one of the funkiest tunes on the Wrestling Album Cassette no doubt that bass line intro is tough!
also Slicks "Jive Soul Bro"
+pepperj that was NOT on this album. that was on the Piledriver album
I just found out what they meant by Cakes: Grab them asses.
AutisticPersona
Today they call it Booty O's!
JYD has been my biggest influence to continue to stay in the business.
RIP Junkyard Dog, Vicki Sue Robinson, and of course Mean Gene Okerlund
Is this sad?
Lost this tape over 20 years ago, yet have no problem singing every last lyric.
had this album as a kid...and still have jyd rubber actions figure from 84
This should have been a popular catch phrase.
JYD was awesome WWE Superstar back 1980s his memories live forever
My Dad had this Album on actual record when I was younger I thought it was awesome 😁
You gotta love how the Junkyard Dog does rap. Cool to see Vicki Sue Robinson collaborate with him.
G-R-A-B T-H-E-M C-A-K-E-S!!!
REST IN PEACE JYD! ONE OF THE BEST!
One of the best albums of its time. I liked this one much better than Piledriver. The commentary between tracks were golden.
"it sounded like he had a mouthful of grits spewing out at the microphone!!!"
ConcernedCitizen5514 freaking Jesse 😂😂😂

He would've been an awesome blues singer
I remember my mother hearing this and saying... " grab them cakes ? whats that all about ? " lol
This is a jam!
Jyd got bars ⛓ 🐕
What I miss about 80s WWF is the wrestlers were like real life comic book heroes and villians. Wrestling was holy writ to me and my cousins back then. We had every single LJN action figure.

GRAB THEM CAKES.
Wow
Why isn't this on my love making playlist?
What kind of cakes am I grabbing? I prefer pie myself
I see The New Day doing a parody of this.
Grab them pancakes is that all you do.

I used to have that record, no clue where that shit is
what kind of cake is it?
Carver ice cream cake!
I'm guessing that's Cyndi Lauper doing the background and late duet with JYD.
It was Vicki Sue Robinson, she sang "Turn the Beat Around."
Its not on ITUNES DAMET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trump should have used this song at his presidential ceremony
I had this on LP... I was 12 and had no taste in music....
3:59-4:04 - And Mene Gene ended up singing that one on "Pile Driver" a couple of years later.
Mannnnnnnnn… coulda fooled me, shiiiit 😂😂😂😂
Is that Eric Wareheim? (JK)
Doo da doo doo!
Pause
This song is dedicated to Bill Cosby
Jyd's downside of his career.
Where is Donald Trump's cover of this song?
Awful
This song is so bad it's good.
