"I just want to tell you good luck, we're all counting on you."
Surely you can't be serious?
@@the_even_toed_ungulate. I am and - don’t call me Shirley
Yes he was in Airplane. Yes Airplane was the best movie ever but that's not important right now.
A murder? What is it?
That’s when someone is killed deliberately by someone else, but that’s not important right now. Oh, wait, yes it is!
😂‼️
"I'll be seeing you" - nice cameo line from the prisoner
Yep! Falk and Paddy were great personal chums.
Totally missed that.
Even when he’s serious he still makes me laugh!! Just something about that voice and delivery!! I find it impossible to take him seriously!!! Bottom line: Leslie Neilson cracks me up!!
Not in his younger, all black hair years
Also, the actor TED KNIGHT had a bigger change
Ted went from playing a Film Noir thug, to comedy
He's pretty creepy is 1987 Nuts
Leslie Nielsen + Peter Falk. cant get any more epic then these 2 together
And Patrick McGoohan. I just learned he was born in Astoria, NY. Far out.
Lt Colombo and Lt Frank Drebin on a joint under cover operation. Sounds fun 😉
"Yes, it's true, I've been called the Laurence Olivier of spoofs. I guess that would make Laurence Olivier the Leslie Nielsen of Shakespeare."
- Leslie Nielsen
I know this is a serious role, but I cant help but smile after every sentence.
I agree it seems like the punch line From Leslie is on the tip of his tounge
Nielsen is cool af.
I bet, he used to crack jokes on these dramatic sets on outtakes🤗
He went from AIRPORT
to AIRPLANE.
That was the switch🛩
He is serious, and don't call him serious.
2 seconds in I chucked. Couldn't take it serious. Expecting him to say 'Lieutenant, don't call me Shirley!"
Its actually amazing how many cases Columbo's wife actually solved :)
😂😂😂😂With all the expected Leslie Nielson jokes on this comment section your comment is the funniest, may be beacuse I wasn't expecting it👍👍👍👍👍👍
"Shirley you're not accusing me of murder?"
"I am. And don't call me Shirley"
(Yeah, it doesn't work at a written joke - but it's a classic ❤️)
Surely
I know that he was a serious drama actor for the majority of his career but every time he opens his mouth I just wait for him to make a redicoulusly funny punchline XD
"Is this some kind of bust?" "Yes, it's very impressive."
He was better at drama.
@@douglasjohnson4382 Correction ..... In your opinion, he was better at drama which doesn't make it true.
Ya got me. Yes, that was indeed my opinion. Good for you.
It would have been neat and amusing if Peter Falk had played a villain in the Naked Gun films.
YES!!!
Lt Colombo and Lt Frank Drebin on a joint under cover operation. Sounds fun 😊
The scene having lunch in Columbo's car is priceless!!! 👍👍
That actress is just fantastic. Playing evil lunatics is probably quite thankless in the eyes of the audiences, but she must have had a great sense of accomplishment after portraying this role. And it must have been fun and interesting.
Rest in powerful peace Leslie Nielsen🙏

Amazing how you never see Columbo’s wife, yet she is in so many episodes!
It's Hard To Watch Leslie Nielsen Without Hearing Him Say, "I'm A Locksmith &, I'm A Locksmith." He Always Looks Like He's Having Fun! 8-)
Who are you and how did you get in here?
@@michaeljames4904 Why Should He Be Jealous? I Don't Belong To Him!
Part of what made Leslie Nielsen so funny in Airplane! and the Naked Gun movies was that he was spoofing the serious, manly, very square characters he'd played through his whole career before that. By playing the comedic characters in the same deadpan way he'd played dramas (like this Columbo episode), it made the silly dialogue ("That's exactly what I mean, and stop calling me Shirley") and situations even funnier. In Airplane!, several such "dramatic" actors -- Peter Graves, Robert Stack, and Lloyd Bridges -- played their usual personas "straight" ("Looks like I picked a bad week to stop sniffing glue") and thus satirized themselves hilariously.
I cracked up when Patrick M said, "I'll be seeing you."
Nielsen played a very convincing alpha leading man at age 29 in Forbidden Planet. Quite the dude.
Everyone here seems to look at Nielsen as a comedian. He only became one later in his career. In the 1960s and '70s, he was a very good villain. I'm surprised he only appeared in two Columbo episodes, and remember, in one of them he wasn't the villain, but the victim.
He wasn’t really a villain. He was the murderer’s girlfriend and he honestly believes she was innocent. In fact, it was his testimony that got her convicted.
"no I hate you with a passion" lol
Leslie Nielsen taking a whiz in Naked Gun... still makes me laugh
OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I never noticed but at around 6:35 Patrick McGoohan says, "I'll be seeing you." That is his catch phrase from the sci-fi show he wrote and created called The Prisoner!!!
Frank Drebin and Frank Columbo.
It's definitely a great combination.
"I can hold my breath for a loooong time!!"
The Leslie Nielson episodes were weird to watch for me. I only knew him as a comedic actor. That was one of the joys of watching Columbo for the first time in 2012.
Leslie Nielson was considered to play Juda Ben Hur in the movie, "Ben Hur" but the leading role went to Charlton Heston.
You think this is weird? Watch him in the movie "Creepshow (1982)"
Two of my favourite Lieutenants... Frank Columbo and Frank Drebin! I love them both, but I know which one I'd want on the case if one of my loved ones was murdered...
Well, that depends on whether you murdered her, doesn’t it?
@@MrBiggles53 True 🤣
Love these Columbo short sequence film clips. They are great. On a side note, does anyone remember Patrick McGoohan in the movie, "Ice Station Zebra" ? Though not Columbo related, it is one of my favorite movies starring McGoohan.
Edward Longshanks in Braveheart. He was awesome in that movie!
Yes Ice station zebra was a fab film
McGoohan was just The Prisoner on a remote island as punishment for espionage
@@MrMajikman1 Whaaaat? He was Longshanks????? I never noticed!
Dangerman.
I'm sure a lot of you were waiting for Neilson to start cracking jokes, then were baffled when he never did. Before Airplane in 1980, Neilson didn't do comedy. He was known as a serious dramatic actor. That's why people loved him in Airplane, nobody knew just how funny he was.
That's because he was still delivering the ridiculous lines as if they were dramatic and serious. That's what made it funny
I'M TORN!
on one hand the best comedic actor ever,
the other one of the best crime show actors ever!
"Hello, Beth. I would have been here sooner, but your brother wasn't dead then..."
😂😂
6:40 Nice reference to "The Prisoner"
Yes I caught that too. I wonder if he adlibbed it? He seemed to be grinning right after saying it.
Leslie Nielsen's second appearance in Columbo. Also starred in episode "Identity crisis" as A J Henderson
First appearance. This was season 1, Identity Crisis was much later.
I just wanted to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you.
in a serious role, Mr Nielsen is even funnier
😂
Leslie Nielsen is one of my favorite actors My favorite movie is the Naked gun trilogy.
I loved Airplane!
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
@@zovalentine7305 hey don't forget Airplane 2: the sequel 😂😂😂😂 this man is a comedy genius.
Lieutenant Columbo discussing a case with Captain Frank Drebin. Then you're sure the case will be solved.
Surely, we can never thank you enough for all your uploads !
You cant be serious.
McGoohan and Nielsen are great together!
the funniest thing I have seen in ages the prisoner meets frank drebin meets columbo
6:40 Patrick McGoohan 'I'll be seeing you'. Genius.
Leslie Nielsen was one of the best supporting actors but I’ve often wondered why he never had his own tv show.
He was a director too.
Just watch Leslie's facial expressions as Columbo says I think she set this up, it was deliberate and I think you can help me prove it. It reminds me of his later comedy work especially on The Naked Gun.
Apparently, Leslie used his fart machine on set and Columbo nearly died from a heart attack he was laughing so hard.
I guess if you're gonna die from a heart attack, laughing from fart jokes or whatever you find amusing before you do couldn't be a better way to go (aside from going in your sleep).
@@thomasshort1784 I can think of one better way, à la Félix Faure. In 1899 the French president died at the Élysée Palace while his mistress twenty-eight years his junior was noshing him off.
@@michaeljames4904 Awesome.
Leslie was quite the hunky leading man in his day. Check out "Forbidden Planet"
Forbidden Planet is fantastic!
That hairpiece deserves an Oscar on its own account.
Surely you cant be serious
@@GroovingPict Don't call me Shirley.
Lots of actors wore them. You could tell by the part
" Banana Land " - 🤔 Don't think he would get away with that 2day ??😂😂
An excellent Leslie Nielsen for a very good role
The fact that play more serious roll back, when he started and now rest of his role-playing comedian.
This was as funny as the time he was a Captain of that ship that turned upside down.
"I'll be seeing you" - nice touch.
always loved the episodes with leslie nielsen and i was surprised how handsome and masculine he was back then...;- ()
@2:13 Those clothes tho. Old school Burger King employee hat in pink 😅🤣
At about 1:55 I was expecting Leslie to walk up to the girl, grab her by the shoulders and say, "Get a hold of yourself [SLAP]!"
The 2nd slap is the best.
😂
This episode is one of my favorites.
I still can't believe the fact that the same actress played Cherry Forever in Porky's
Whaaaat? She’s Cherry Forever? I never noticed!!!!
only the real ones know the video title was "l Columbo"
Adoro Colombo!!!!
Nothing like seeing 2 older man accosting a young girl with a giant teddy bear(panda), and have that girl naturally giggling at them.
Please! Make Columbo available to be purchased on UA-cam or iTunes. I can’t believe there is no way to watch this outside the US
Have you tried Peacock tv?
@@wiseguymaybe currently not living in US. Wish I could. Mind blowing they wouldn’t want to make more money by allowing people to buy on iTunes.
@@RegginaldRiglet I agree, you would think so. . So you have to be in the US to get Peacock, . You'd think the internet would make everything available around the world including Peacock although peacock is free unless you pay for exta programing. but Columbo and Monk are free to watch. I wish I could be more help. If you'd like I'll do some investigating to see where you could go.
Fav episode 🏈
I always expected to hear him make that fart noise
I first saw him on Police Squad and later on Mash and this show besides on Who's The Boss. I even saw him on 2 scifi movies.
Love to see spies walking around cuddling a giant stuffed panda.
I cannot watch Leslie Nielson acting in a serious role any more. And they got Patrick McGoohan to say "Be seeing you."
I wonder how many of us noticed that....No. 6, "I'll be seeing you"
I’m guessing McGoohan instigated it.
"Open all day? Well, I suppose I'll be seeing you." Oh No.6, you're so droll.
Oh boy its Frank Dreblin himself! Surely you gotta tell me there was atleast ONE columbo joke in police squad after this
Leslie was good man in life. He was good man in "Columbo"
One of my favotite episodes of colunbo
Good title
The other guy is the star of “the Prisoner”. I haven’t seen him since that old series
His name is Patrick McGoohan and he's been in a bunch of Columbo episodes too. Though his work in The Prisoner is iconic.
Patrick McGoohan as undertaker in ASHES TO ASHES... A genius like Peter Falk!
He starred in Silver Streak, which is well worth a watch.
No one has ever claimed down from being told to calm down
I wonder how much of Columbo was an inspiration for Police Squad.
Police Squad was a direct parody-spoof of an older Lee Marvin detective series.
They even used the original dialogs in many cases. Also the film Airplane was similarly a spooficied version of an older film called Zero Hour
"Her Brothers death is the best thing that ever happened to her?"
"Surely you can't be serious?"
Who remembers his famous “Don’t call me Shirley.” line
I haven't seen anything like this since the Anita Bryant concert.
Great actor Columbo ❤❤
❤❤😊
"Double agents are never broke. They die sometimes, but they're never broke.....and don't call me Shirley."
"well in that case, I'll be seeing you"
So....best of Leslie Nielsen I assume?
Beth never argues like this at home.
This Columbo segment needs to be re-titled! Plain "I Columbo" means nothing!
He is just following a little hunch back at the office..... Lieutenant Coloumbo...
Another Classic Episode:
3:40 so twisted, he is exactly the right kind of man, questioning her sanity for her own sake. Curious and concerned about what is going on.
Interesting watching him do serious stuff.
Lt. Frank Drebin! POLICE SQUAD!
Nice beaver
I love it !
His boss was already on the scene
I think part of the reason these scenes could be unintentionally funny, besides Mr Nielsen's delivery, is because this type of acting has been parodied a lot in the later years after the release of this. It could be considered cheesy or even overacted by today standard's. I grew up watching funny Nielsen, I plan to start watching his more serious roles.
And don't call me Shirley.
Hey! It's Enrico Palazzo!
Columbo meets Frank Drebin !
The 70'ties was surly a crazy decade
Don’t call me Shirley… ;)
The transition between Hippies and Yuppies. Yeah, it was weird.
@@christianellegaard7120- yes, you are right, the culture of the 70'ties is perhaps from grown up hippies, and the yuppies are their children that react and do it opposite, and that's why we have this distinctive 70'ties colorite we still recognise, cool comment, I haven't thought of it that way
Especially the scene where two older men approach a teen girl and hand her a teddy bear…innocent or not, that wouldn’t fly very well today.
0:45 Lt. Frank Drebin vs. Lt. Frank Columbo
At 4.02 he seems he is acting in a scene Just Like in the naked gun.
Title should include “Leslie Nielsen”, no?
Does anyone know where l can stream Columbo in Canada
3:25 She's the same person alright, she has just suppressed all the flamboyance and aggression while her brother was controlling her.
