Duchy of Swabia ended in 1268 and included German part of Switzerland, Liechtenstein, middle and southern part of current german state Baden-Württemberg ( northern part belonged to Duchy of Franconia, different tribe) and Distrikt Swabia pf current german state of Bayern, perhaps also current austrian state Vorarlberg. In 1496 a new Imperial District ( Reichskreis) Swabia was formed, including the territories between Rhine, Lech river, Lake of Constance and a line from northern end of Black Forrest nearly straight eastwards. Had been HRE s most divided region, about 100 Independent states.
Gorilla warfare was extremely effective, because although gorillas did not wear armor and had poor grasp of military tactics, they compensated with brutal strength and ferocity, often single-handedly turning the tide of battle. Their impact was even greater when the battle took part in the mist...
I'm loving your summary of the military organizations (i.e. mercenary companys, knightly orders, elite units etc.) of past eras. I've long been a casual reader of history and many of these groups I've been completely ignorant of. These mercenary companies are of special interest since they're the inspiration of a core element of the *The Deed of Paksenarrion* - my favourite fantasy story.
