Matt Levine is a San Francisco based composer and producer who divides his time between teaching at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, composing and producing music, and developing sound immersion applications. In this video, he shares with us how he uses the Sansula Deluxe by Hokema, how anyone can play it, and how the two rows of tines are for him like the "inhale and exhale" of each breath. He then demonstrates playing the Sansula (tuned to A minor) with a tango rhythm. #sansula #hokemakalimbas #intuitivemusicmaking #intuitivemusicalinstruments #weplaywelltogether #kalimba #kalimbasansula #soundmeditation #musicimprovization #tangorhythm #pitchedpercussion #musiccomposition #composer #musiccomposition

Thank you. I found that very valuable information. I love to play my kalimba and now I’m motivated to try the tango rhythm you suggested!

Loved the scale used and it sounds beautiful on a Kalimba. Matt was the perfect guy to show off this instrument!

Thank you Paul! It is so great to get the analytical mind out of the way when making music.

i have the exact same instrument. and first i didnt know how to play as it is this special tuning (a moll in german) a minor (?). and not the C tuning as my other instruments. but i found out fast, that no matter what you play, it always sounds great ❤

Yes it is so freeing to experiment with rhythm and just playing it without being afraid to hit a wrong note.
