Yes, yes there is a difference. Catholics do follow the first commandment actually: "I am the Lord your God, you shall not have any Gods besides me." So they do worship God only. This is precisely what Jesus tells his beloved disciple when he says "Behold, your mother," and says to Mary, "Behold, your son!" (Jn 19:26-27). All members of the kingdom can bring their concerns before the king, but when when his mother intercedes on their behalf, their petitions are elevated before him. Now apply the role of the King as Jesus and the role of Queen as Mary, the Mother of God. If we are adopted children of God, then Jesus has given us his Father as our Father. And if his Father is our Father, then his mother must also be our mother.
