Let's not forget before his injury he was actually putting in immense performances, probably the best of his Barca career. Since he came back he hasn't looked up to the pace, but that can happen.
We've had one of the most unlucky season's imaginable, but next season we can come back much stronger with a fully fit squad and really show people what we've got.
Gavi, De Jong, Pedri, Gundo - we've barely seen this. Gundo was just in the clubs doors and nobody had time to gel. If these 4 are fully fit, then next season we can achieve big things. Also having Balde back would be a huge benefit.
Problem to this day is still his salary, Dont ge me wrong he is a phenomenal player, but we can find another one while stabilizing our economy, also we need a DM way more than a CDM. We saw what we can do in CL w/o FDJ

So with a proper CDM he can win 3 trophies mean he can clearly “blend” with other players like gavi and pedri.

Bernardo is in NO WAY the same type of player as Frenkie. We need FDJ to stay but we also need a real attacking midfielder that can last a few years, Gundogan has maybe 1-2 good seasons in him max and was brought in as cover for Gavi. If Barca is to become a top club again we need quality backups in all positions and Bernardo can play well in multiple positions that Pedri or Gavi cannot. Yes we need a top DM but we cant afford the top ones so we will have to keep playing a defender in that role for the near future

If you play a pivot alongside FDJ , that leaves only one spot for another creative Midfielder in a 4-3-3. We have found Gundogan-FDJ-Christensen or Gundogan-FDJ-Pedri MF to be a major problem against PSG, Real Madrid. Moreover, FDJ, Pedri, Gavi, Gundogan and the new MF Xavi wants will fight for just 2 spots next season. That's too many players for just 2 spots. FDJ will do well in a 4-2-3-1

I'm not sure whether we've been able to get the best out of De Jong or not, or whether he justifies his price tag / wages, but one thing is clear to me: When he's available, it has been way easier for us to break the high press. When he isn't, it has been a struggle against most teams. He has the ability and the confidence, to keep the ball and dribble past one or two players to break the lines. No one in the team currently does it better (Except Romeu maybe :) )
Without FdJ the MF looked way faster as did the progression of the ⚽️, also the club had a good winning streak while FdJ was out injured

In Frenkie's defense, he just came out of a long injury and he was directly put into fire. He was no doubt bad in all the recent matches, but he's been a very influential player for us. I would us to keep him, only if he agrees to the reduce his wages a bit.
Frenkie was more than enough justifying his price at the start of the season before he got injured 3 times which I have a feeling people tend to overlook. If its true that the board isn't happy with Frenkie they should look more into their medical, strength and conditioning staff and not blame everything on him. If FCB gets 40m from Libero and 100m from Nike why would we ever want or need to sell Frenkie?

i personally would never sell de jong because in my head i think we should go all in on signing the best cdm out there if we want to get the maximum out of de jong, Rodri. Sell some players generate the income u need and go for rodri, de jong and rodri would literally be a partnership made in heaven, and don't forget gavi, pedri, fermin, gundogan surronding them 2, it would just fit so amazingly good. It may sound unrealistic, but i don't think rodri would turn down the chance, we've heard him talk so positively about barca many times. Rodri would seriously strengthen our team

Selling franckie to buy a top defensive midfielder would be a genius idea at this point. Ferran, roberto, Alonso, inigo all need to go now. Lewandoski needs serious competition because he is too relaxed knowing that Xavi will always put him in the lineup and that is a poor reflection of Xavi's judgment.
De jong is top level and am shocked Jamie you do not know his role or rather doubt it. His the best holding midfielder and not really a defensive pivot. He can hold on to the ball, just to allow the attackers join and can link up well in pockets with the likes of Gundo and bernado if he was to come. Let's not let go of him or we will regret it

FDJ almost NEVER gives the ball away like Gundogan does and even Pedri does a lot of times. FDJ is important. we need a pure DM with him and until then, using a defender there is a good enough fix. In no way should we sell FDJ right now. When he is fit he is consistently our best player
Selling FDJ makes sense for a number of reasons but you have to remember he’s one of the only few players in the team that can receive a ball deep, can get past one or two players and then pick a sured pass.

I think Xavi did a good job this season. In La Liga the 2 el classico's were the deciding games. We were the better team in this first one and in the second one the ref was against us. If we were to win those, we would be 1 point ahead of Real right now.
I totally disagree with you there Jamie. I feel Dejong has never played in the right position throughout his time in Barcelona. Even with Busquets in, he was playing as a double pivot because busquets had gotten slower. Our focus should be on signing a top top pivot and I believe then.. a mid field of frenkie, Pedri and gundogan (rotate them) can easily run circles around any team

Hello Jaime, I think you've been harsh on FDJ today. He has been far and beyond our best midfielder. The brutal truth is that this team, as a whole, lacks quality and believes to compete at the highest level. We need mentality installation and a philosophy that ticks this group of players together.
FDJ is my best player within this team. Remember his performances against real Madrid when we won. He ran the show and connected the two sides of the pitch.
This does not feel different with De Jong. He is one of our double pivots and has been one of our best players. Yes he gets paid too much but it’s still his decision to make. He is happy at Barca and whether he has a role or not he has his custom house built in one of the most beautiful cities in the world playing at a team he loves growing up.
The Bernardo transfer is years overdue. He’s 30. He’s played 50 plus matches since he’s joined City. We need pace. We don’t need another pass back Winger/midfielder.
Frenkie needs a CDM. You saw how he played with Busquets last season. He was so good. Before his injury he was our best player. We need a CDM who can carry the ball from the defence. Or even player, one/two touch like Busquets.

I think we need players based on speed like davies or arnold they also have good crossing ability Arnold is bit like Bernardo but I think his pace is good to have good attack and defence. We have players with skills but we need to increase power at the back end so davies or arnold might be a good choise if we can bring Arnold or Davies we can put one of them as RB on the feild
We saw how good frankie was when he played with busquets, i honestly think if we get a top cdm next season we will see the best frankie with much more freedom on the pitch.
One question would be whether De Jong has also suffered from the lack of a pivot? (Not to mention his injury troubles) We have seen several instances of his potential and we can't say conclusively whether it would be worth selling him from a sporting angle. However, financially, it is true that De Jong's wages strain our salary space considerably and he has among the highest market values in our team. Ultimately, our team's collective struggles this year make any judgement on De Jong's performances murky imo.
I think we need an overhaul in this team. FDJ could generate a lot of money, and he is the highest earner at the club. He has been good but not world-class imo. Just think about all the midfielders we had in this club, not even talking about the best, Yaya Toure, Racitic etc were all more impactful than FDJ.

We need some pace into the team keeping position and scoring with passes along with position might not work always so we have to create sudden attack burst out from no where and scoring hence I think bringing a right back or LB in place of Roberto or kounde keeping them as intact but as extra support or jao cancello I hope this kinda player will be fine in place of Bernardo Pedri, Dejong they are fine along with that christinson plays as DM as well as CB so he is also doing good but we need a racer rather a pacer ❤❤❤❤❤💙💙💙💙💙

I think the wise decision would be to let go of Frenkie and look to add a top quality pivot. Trust me thats gonna make a night and day difference. We already have many interiors. Some fans may not want to let Dejong go, but imo thats the best sale we can do in terms of his wages & transfer fee.

Our team doesn’t have difficulties scoring goals clearly. That’s why we need a full back option who is reliable defensively. Because this teams strength is clearly counter attacking with Raphinha and Yamal on the wings so we should use it to our advantage.

I would rather sell roberto, oriol, and do not purchase jao felix.
De jongs best position is clearly a supportive pivot role , where he does not have to be thinking about defending that much and he has the space to make some runs and exploit empty spaces , we saw a glimpse of it a year ago with busquets but we need a good pivot in order to play de jong like this. 4-4-3 did play the best football we have seen under Xavi and generally in the last 5 years after Koeman and Setien .
For me Frenkie should have always been an interior midfielder at Barca, but with box-to-box defensive abilities. He's great going forward and creating chances. He has the quality and always delivers, but it hasn't been able to fulfil that position due to injuries of both himself and other players, sometimes having to play CB, CDM to cover for other players... With the tough period of the club starting when he joined, it was always going to be hard for him to really shine within the Barca philosophy. I love Frenkie as a player and always watch videos of his skills. I wish he stays many years at Barca until we reach glory again.

Bernado because frankly we need something extra in the attack and Bernado can provide in all manner of ways. We know he can, we've seen it. It's a risky choice yh cuz we're spending a huge amount with no particular way of cashing out on him later on given his age but I think right now we just need someone who can play so Yamal isn't overworked. As for the pivot, Onana is a good option too given his build.

I really love Frenkie as a person and it's really hard to say that he's better out of the team. I honestly feel, it is better for both him and the team to part ways. We talk about a new pivot, and for the remaining two positions in mid we have pedri, gavi, gundo and bernardo if he comes. When everyone is fit, who do you drop? IF WE WERE NOT IN A FINANCIAL CRUNCH I WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER HIM LEAVING. But the situation... its best for both parties. ESPECIALLY IT FEELS LIKE HE DESERVES A TEAM THAT PLAYS BY HIS STYLE. With Frenkie i believe Koeman used him well with our lack of attackers back then his runs into the box and at times being a ball playing CB he was pretty decent. But now like Van der vaart said he dribbles too much around his own circle he doesn't move the ball forward he's capable of putting in assists but he doesn't do that.
Honestly I do think de Jong does well at the pivot role when Gavi is sharing the pitch with him, which means he'll feel much more protected defensively allowing him to express himself offensively
