Nice buck! I had a tag for northern Az, U5, 2yrs ago for any antlered deer, I didn't expect to find a coues.
Being a bowhunter first & foremost, it's a habit for me to get as close as possible & I was able to get within 40 or so yards of him & that was with a rifle. That was also the 1st buck I processed myself, we usually drop our kills off at Casey's processing in Flagstaff.

There a some good recipes for the javalina from Hank Shaw. It's better than people think if you cook it right. Ajiaco Mexican stew and you use the hams and back straps in it. Delicious. Make sausage out of the front shoulders.

What a hunt! Seen lots of well known dudes try to kill a cous with stick and string and everyone seems to struggle. COngrats man, seems like one of the tougher hunts to pull off.

Damn that sucks about the poles. Primitive shelter time. I think it would be great for all hunters to learn some of those primitive skills just in case crap like this happens!
haha still wish we had those poles! Learning some primitive skills would also be great just incase something happens on the mountain and you have to stay overnight without basecamp!
