      @@user-lp1jw9bo5y Sorry pal, this "accident" WAS preventable - the driver of the car was driving over the speed limit. Had he been observing the law and driving more carefully, he would have been able to avoid crashing into those parked cars and women. The only thing that was accidental was the fact that those poor girls happened to be in the path of the car driven by this reckless kid. His behavior behind the wheel was NOT an accident, it was a crime. Admittedly, the driver is only 22 years old, just at the beginning of adulthood, but he or his parents must take responsibility for the deaths and injuries resulting from his LACK OF JUDGEMENT - however momentary.

      You don't understand, people can be very decent and good, and when you are young and driving and others are speeding as well, it's easy for a car to excel and you don't even notice it sometimes in a newer car, especially with music on. Part of the fault lies in the cops not giving tickets out on that road, obviously. What should he pay, he did not try to kill anyone, should he go to prison for 5 years, will that teach him, sure it would. But also it doesn't take 5 years to decide to never drive that fast again. There should be a giant fine, and also losing your drivers license for a time, and a time to sit in jail and think, not prison, but a jail sentence, jail is very hard, prison is easier for several reasons. When people are drinking and driving, that's another story, that should be prison time. I've seen people get multiple tickets and do serious damage and still maintain their driver license.

    Very saddened. 4 souls lost. As a driving school owner this really makes my blood boil. I serve Malibu and this seems to be universal in Southern California and even in the U.S. that we can tolerate these tragedies.
    It’s very very common that younger drivers hit parked cars, I see it on daily basis in San Fernando Valley. Witnesses 3 such crashes myself in 3 months…all younger drivers, all losing control.
    But that stretch in Malibu is way too dangerous. We have to demand some concrete barriers for pedestrians.
    I can’t even imagine how parents of those young ladies are going through right now.

      @@user-lp1jw9bo5y it is absolutely possible. My background is in aerospace. We don’t accept if a plane crashes so why accept this. Plus tell that to the parents.
      No, we can change this and it’s why I quit my position at SpaceX to start this school.
      I received my drivers license in Germany. West and East Germany combined had 8000 car deaths, U.S. had 40,000 in 2022. Before you say Germans don’t drive as much remember this: 40,000 is for entire U.S. including states like Montana or Texas with low population. So it basically means in populated area in the U.S. compared to Germany we have 5 times more deadly accidents.
      It’s all about proper training. For 1 I’m sick of seeing accidents lawyers billboard all over U.S. Those billboards are very expensive… my point is more money need to go to schools.
      My school is struggling now, people don’t want to pay $20 more per hour to have really quality lessons with an instructor who is not 21. Most schools hire young people because they are cheap.
      We have to pay federal taxes, state taxes, LA city taxes, Edd taxes, payroll taxes, franchise tax board taxes, 5 different license fees yearly. This is what’s ridiculous, not expecting accidents.
      There are many drivers who never get into accidents, and some who get constantly into accidents, why?

      @@NickyD speeding is one thing, losing control is another. We are dealing with this like a typical capitalist society. What’s the cost of some concrete barriers on pch for pedestrians. And we really have to make drivers responsible.
      I don’t say this because I have a driving school, but honestly we need more facilities for driving training. In Germany we had area where instructors could wet the pavement and let students lose control. Then students realized how easy it is to lose control. It’s why German drivers have so much less accidents.
      I feel like a canary in a coal mine. Started this school to save lives but not getting any help and taxes and licensing fees are devastating plus the higher gas prices. Thankfully I have a Tesla for a school car too. We’ll see, I’m not giving up easily.

    I hate most California drivers. It seems almost everyone drives atleast 20 to 30 miles over the speed limit. I just go the speed limit in the right lane, because as well know going the speed limit in the left lane pisses people off, but you cant win either way, the idiots driving fast to exit the road or turn right get pissed off because you're going the speed limit. I frequently get bad looks or flipped off by jerks on the road. And, one lane roads are the worst. People have no patience. They expect you to pull over right away so they can fly by. They dont even give you time to find a safe spot to let them pass. Driving makes me hate humans.

    @spotted_salamander 10 місяців тому +19

    The guy @1:43 should have saved those ill-spoken public remarks given the gravity of the situation. You have a scenario where a 22-year old adult drove a car on the public road so recklessly that he not only killed four people instantly but he also seriously injured two others at the scene and their fates are still undetermined. That's a total of 4 people deceased and 2 others seriously hurt who may not recover from their injuries. This is all at the hands of the so-called "good, good kid" who is "well respected" in the community. Save It! The numbers of grieving people do not want to hear that excuse-making rubbish. And the audacity of that man to not even give public condolences to the families of the people who were killed and severely injured. What a shameful public display. 👎

      @@chonk2021 it’s a shame when people like you, have to lie to try and prove their point. There was no sidewalk, it’s been explained they were on the side of the road when they were hit. Second, it was night because you can see the headlights on the cars. And I find it amusing when people try to claim I am “victim blaming” because I want to pay attention to the facts. The driver definitely should be prosecuted because he was reckless and caused their deaths. At the same time, what the girls were doing was foolish. Walking on the side of a highway in the dark is a recipe for disaster.

  • @markythelarky6948
    @markythelarky6948 10 місяців тому +2

    PCH is super dangerous in all kinds of ways:
    1) The homes are right up against the road so there are garage exits and driveways leading right into a winding road with many blind spots.
    2) PCH is a stroad and by its very nature not designed for pedestrian safety: sidewalks are narrow, there are few places to safely cross the street, and it's poorly lit.
    3) PCH was widened to the point that it has no sidewalks, and in some places no shoulder. For a road with so many curves, the posted speed limit is too high, there are not enough traffic lights, there are no speed bumps, no barriers, no dividers.
    4) Worst of all, people drive really fast there. I'll be the first to say I'm guilty of often going too fast, texting or fiddling with my phone. But there the danger is palpable and you make sure to drive with your utmost attention to the road. Yet, I see people speeding, racing, swerving, making u-turns, left turns into their driveways (despite having high speed traffic beside you and behind you). It's a crazy road.
