    Thank you for that very simple and informative tutorial; a lot of the people doing crochet tutorials on UA-cam talk too much about themselves or their kids, grand kids and while that's nice if you want to hear about them, it bores me because I'm not there for that purpose. I also find they don't get to the point quick enough or make the tutorial straightforward and simple to follow. Thank you again!

      For Tunisian crochet always use a hook 2 or 3 sizes larger than the yarn calls for, and work loosely on the pull up a loop. The reason Tunisian Crochet rolls is based upon the length of the loop which is pulled up and the position of the pulled through loops on the back of the work. To reduce the curling of the work with Tunisian crochet you must reduce your tension greatly when you are pulling up a loop through the vertical loop. As I work my row of pulled up loops, I leave some daylight under the hook, this gives the length of the loop the room it needs to lay flat. I also make sure to pull the new loop up somewhat sharply causing the row of pull through two loops in the back to move down into the correct position. To ensure your loops are loose enough your Tunisian hook should slide easily through the loops on your hook, if not your tension is too tight. Notice the pulled-up loops on your hook are a spiral. If your hook will not slide easily you can loosen your tension by manipulating the length of the loops by working the yarn through the spiral; which is very easy to do. You can look at the spiral of loops on your hook and quickly see which ones are too tight or too loose. The width of your work is controlled by the size of the top loop you pull through when you work your return pass. Keeping the size of the top loop you pull through consistent with the size of your hook shaft will allow you to maintain the same width throughout your project and cause the loops on the back of your work to have a consistent appearance.

    omgosh this is the solution I was looking for! lol i got some traditional knitting needles about a moth ago and ended up pitching them in the bin. I just cant make 2 needles work at the same time for some reason lol. however I love crochet and this will mean I can "knit" but not have to bother with 2 needles! I didn't even know this existed but I already ordered my set of hooks :) Can't wait to have a go

    No one is as slow as I am at knitting >.> It took my 18 years to finish a scarf and it's not even that long. I ran out of thread and unfortunately I can't find the same yarn I was using for the scarf since it's so unique .... so yeah I have a short scarf, but still wearable! I am just now learning to add fringes. I am new don't judge! ha! Thanks for this tutorial!

      @@MaynardsSpaceship I think it may be because of the poor video quality. I'm very interested in what she's saying, but it's quite frustrating, trying to see it clearly and it not being possible because either the camera isn't focusing or the lens is blurry. She's a very good teacher, and I go to her videos for quite a few tutorials, but I do wish this video was done a bit more carefully.

      I thought about that too. But lately I have been observing some great knit designs and have been really appreciating just the simple knit and purl stitches. I am a crocheter and have been turned off by the complexity of knitting but I’m trying to re-learn it again, finding different styles that might work better for me. But I completely agree, crochet seems so much simpler :)

    This was so helpful! I was trying to teach myself with a book, but I didn't realize I was supposed to put the hook underneath the bars when you work on the third row (right to left). I was going into the spaces, and when I did so I lost a stitch every time I worked from right to left 😅. Thank goodness for the Internet!

    Another great video - I've learned so much of Tunisian all from your videos - and I ordered the same set of hooks off Amazon. I'm quite happy with them too, for the price (about $12.00 CDN). thanks again - I had surgery in December, and can't do much for 8 weeks - this is how I'm spending my recovery! Best Wishes

    Is there a Tunisian purl stitch also, I wonder? As in "knit one, purl two?" If not there should be. :)

    Hi I notice you're talking in an English accent but talk about single crochet. In the UK we call it double crochet. Please could you tell your UK viewers the difference. Thanks. x

      that's avery important question I really want to know why it curl too

    • @racheloveck
      @racheloveck 8 років тому

      +Raphael “Phell” Chia Your work will curl if you never purl, because of how the knit stitch pulls the fabric. It's a good idea to alternate rows of purl stitches with knit stitches so the fabric is pulled back and forth. It will come out straight.

      Tunisian is naturally curly, it's less noticeable if you use a larger hook size than normal for the yarn weight

    • @stellaaltman7503
      @stellaaltman7503 5 років тому

    I purchased two sets of these crochet hooks two weeks ago and crochet everything with these. They are so comfortable and don't prick into the palm or tire the wrist as the usual crochet hooks do. These stitches remind me of Entrelac which I learnt a few days ago. I was so curious to learn Tunisian Crochet and now it makes crochet fun. Difference is that the stitches are added on the crochet hook. I am a newbie to crochet and am enjoying your great tutorials. You are an excellent Teacher. Thanks for sharing. Hugs xxx
