and you're eating the Guatemalan tamales all wrong. My grandfather always added lemon to it sometimes he ate bread with it too. I've tried both good and bad of both.
Daneidy Mazariegos im happy for you but they kinda made this video bi-as because the mexican tamale looks store bought......and looks like a typical white kid cooked it....sooo nvm it is bi-as
I’m Guatemalan and I got to say that Mexican tamales come with a variety of fillings like cheese, meats, chiles …etc but Guatemalan tamales come with different bases we don’t only use corn masa , we use potatoes, plantains or rice as dough. The one they where eating is made out of rice which explains why it jiggles. I believe every tamale is unique and special. Everything depends on the region, resources and culture this is why I don’t compare.
I am a mexican living in Guatemala and your tamales are great. We also have rice and potato tamales in Mexico, then we have the tamales in Chiapas... very mayan. Oaxacan tamales are very similiar to hallacas in Venezuela.
It’s definitely something that’s made for the holidays… As much as I love Guatemalan tamales it takes so much time to make alone. But it’s very fun with family making TOGETHER to make something so delicious. Especially with a slice of bread 😂
I'm half Mexican half Guatemalan and I've always prefered the tamales from Guate for some reason. Also for the Guatemalan tamales you should have added a bit of limon and accompanied it with pan frances. At least that's how we eat them in my family.
Jennifer Lara I'm half Mexican and Guatemalan too and hands down I always prefer the ones from Guate!! Between the two the Mexican ones taste dry and bland but hey I'd eat either one lmao
Jennifer Lara Girl I feel you we do the same... Mexican tamales and quick to eat on the go and Guate tamales a whole entire meal that u have to sit down with some cafe to enjoy
Sotz Sotz I've never had Guatemalan tamale, I've had Veracruzanos which look very similar. I have however tried and made Mexican tamales and this is not what they look like.
I agree, the Mexican tamales in this vid looked low quality, or plain, compared to the Mexican ones I've had here in LA. Now that I think about, comparing the typical Guatemalan tamales with the typical Mexican tamales is like comparing apples and oranges. Everyone should try both though.

I'm sorry I had to say it, the dude that said he never had tamales is a liar. Look at you bro you look like you ate the whole pot during last Christmas 😂😂😂
My family is Mexican as fuck, but they've always made the Guatemalan tamales. Both from my mom and dad's side. I didn't even realize they were from Guatemala until recently haha. My family has always agreed that the banana leaf tamales are better.
Next time get real mexican to cook! Those tamales look store bought machine made or white boy made which is basically the same they don't like flavor Homemade mexican tamales are real saucy real meaty and that's what gives them color these looked plain assfk
Both tamales are from Mexico. In fact, in Mexico, each state has its own version of tamal. 1: Tamal comes from the Nahuatl "Tamalli" (language of the Mexica empire) and means "wrapped" 2: Guatemala was part of the Mexican empire 3: Guatemala even has a Nahuatl name "Quauhtlemallan" which means "place of many trees" So they are practically putting Mexico vs Mexico, even if the Guatemalan brothers don't like it.
The Guatemalan tamale is pretty much the standard Centralamerican tamal all the way down to Nicaragua. Only difference is we add a sauce on the top but the ingredients and the way they are made is the same exact thing in Centralamerica. Mexico is just different.
A very proud Chapina, happy that they include our delicious tamales in this!! "size for a family"?? thats for just one person, and usually you get more than one XD

That Mexican tamal looks whiter than my butt, BUT that being said, I prefer Guatemalan tamales only because they're not as dry as Mexican tamales... But I will eat any and all types of tamales 😁

Depends who makes the Mexican 🫔🇲🇽 tamales. Some people makes them to dryyyyy or too much dough and lack of flavor. Some ppl REALLY know how to make them, tamales are special to make at the end of the day ❤.
I'm Cape Verdean/Guatemalan, and I love the tamales made the Guatemalan way more than the Mexican ones. There was a bakery 2 blocks from me that made all types of tamales. They're bigger and got better taste.
My mother is a native of Guatemala. I grew up eating Guatemalan Tamales in the San Francisco Bay Area. Try Soy Guatemalteco in San Francisco. It is very authentic Guatemalan food. www.yelp.com/biz/yo-soy-caf%C3%A9-guatemalteco-san-francisco
Jonathan Torrez A'zun come on you really need to go that low ? Your only saying that cause it’s your country but there are other countries that are WAY more superior then Mexico and that’s a fact.
I have a hard time imagining a tamal without aceitunas, alcaparras, loroco y un buen recado. I guess I am too Guatemalan. The mexican tamales are similar to guatemalan 'chuchitos'.
I think Guatemalan tamales are the best mainly because (at least in my humble opinion) you can eat it by itself and have it taste amazing. But with Mexican tamales (and y'all I'm from LA in Cali so you know I am able to the deal here) I always have to add salsa or else it isn't as satisfying. But honestly any tamal is freaking blessing so thank your lucky stars that cilantro doesn't taste like soap to you due to genetics 😂😂😂
The boys know their food... Guatemalan tamales are more flavorful and have great ingredients. I am not from Guatemala nor mexico but Guatemalan tamales are the "bomb". Keep them coming my dear Chapines!!! Mexico have similar G. tamales in the souther part that borders with Guatemala.
I’m Mexican so I sometimes get tired of them so when I get the chance to pick between Mexican or Guatemala tamales I go for the guatemalteco one cause they are fire, last time I had one was around 4 yrs ago around east la but here in south la u don’t find them unless u know someone who is from Guatemala. Smh imagine there was a tamalera with Guatemala tamales shit I would buy some every week matter of fact she would be the most popular one cause I’m pretty sure everyone here would enjoy something new
Guatemalan tamales 😩"size for a family" I eat at least two every time I eat 😭

Depends who makes the Mexican 🫔🇲🇽 tamales. Some people makes them to dryyyyy or too much dough and lack of flavor. Some ppl REALLY know how to make them, tamales are special to make at the end of the day ❤.
lol finally a country
that isn't Mexico, A Latin country from the carribean, or Colombia and Venezuela appears
this Nigga knows Guatemalan tamales win but is too biased 😂 wtf Guatemalan tamales FTW
Your mama too
Guatemalan tamales are #1. Con un pirujo y limon
fabbyz83 yess
nope lmaoo try my grandmas tamales she makes them with sauce and chicken too thats a mexican tamal they bought that shit from costco
I'm Cape Verdean/Guatemalan, and I love the tamales made the Guatemalan way more than the Mexican ones. There was a bakery 2 blocks from me that made all types of tamales. They're bigger and got better taste.
Dónde los comiste? En la costa de México se hacen los mejores tamales
👑GUATEMALA WINS BECAUSE I SAID SO... I'M FROM GUATEMALA AND THE FOOD THERE IS THE BEST THING ANYONE WOULD EAT👑
My mother is a native of Guatemala. I grew up eating Guatemalan Tamales in the San Francisco Bay Area. Try Soy Guatemalteco in San Francisco. It is very authentic Guatemalan food. www.yelp.com/biz/yo-soy-caf%C3%A9-guatemalteco-san-francisco
i don't care what yall say, Guatemalan tamales are DELICIOUS. with lemon and a piece of pan francés and damnnnnn
El tamal guatemalteco es sabroso solo así pero acá se come con pan francés o tortilla tostada y limón y de tomar por lo general es café, Pepsi/Coca cola, chocolate o ponche navideño.
yas i am Guatemalan and Mexican but the Guatemalan hits differently no cap bro but if you eat it with pan frances its so GOOOD
of course Guatemalan tameles wins duhhh
Rosa Martinez not really bro
Nopeeee Guatemala ftw
Rosa Martinez nah
Rosa Martinez yess 🔥
Rosa Martinez it would win a trip to the garbage can if you brought that to my face. Aswell that excuse of a tamale that was shown for Mexico.
This tamal isnt mexican 😂😠
It's tamal; not tamele when it's singular
Mit Morj OMG THANK YOU!!!! It is seriously a pet peeve of mine when people say tamale! It's ES on the end for PLURAL... why is that difficult?! 🙄
Maritza Rios I was wondering why people spell it with the e at the end of its pronunced Tamal...
Maritza Rios because you have problems
The original word 'tamalli' sounds like 'tamale' and it works for singular and plural in nahuatl.
Well someone made some plain ass Mexican tamales HAHAH I can hear my Aunts yelling that a Tamal is never like that lol
Pork guatemalan tamales are the best of all. Especially those made in Coban, Alta Verapaz.
Guatemala wins.
Paches are the best tamales made in Guatemala. they are made out of potatoes and are delicious.
Los platos Guatemaltecos son mas elaborados llevan mas ingredientes y mas trabajo incluso las tortillas son hechas a mano de harina de maíz q uno mismo hace, pero la comida mexicana es deliciosa también. Cada uno es único
You think but try it and Mexican is better
Every Christmas my grandma makes them you put lime omfg it’s so good
I’m Guatemalan but my family is from Guatemala and I’m AMERICAN 4 years later
GUATEMALA all the way its better
Yes Guatemala makes them really good. BuT have any of you tried NACATAMALES from Nicaragua those are king huge and they use porky
Any Guatemalans here🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹
Algunos Guatemaltecos aqui??🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹
Zoila Zuleta yoooooo
Smh imagine there was a tamalera with Guatemala tamales shit I would buy some every week matter of fact she would be the most popular one cause I’m pretty sure everyone here would enjoy something new
Guatemalan tamales are the best !😍
They’re missing the café, el pirujo, and the limon 😫
YESS GUATEMALAN TAMALES ALL THE WAY!!!!!
When there’s a lot of proud Mexicans who can’t accept defeat, they start to make excuses. Rage Mexicans 3 2 1:
This is like the 0.5% representation Guatemala gets on any of these latinx based channels ok LET US HAVE SOMETHING AND ENJOY IT
GUATE TAMALES ARE THE BEST BROOOO
