Russia's Pantsir-M Naval Defence System Makes Combat Debut In Ukraine With Storm Shadow Kill?

- The naval variant of Russia’s Pantsir surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system made its combat debut in Ukraine. The Russian Pantsir-M air-defense system intercepted a Ukrainian-fired long-range Storm Shadow missile. According to defence manufacturer High-Precision Systems, it was the first time the naval system took out one of the Western-made cruise missiles. Company’s director Oleg Ryazantsev said a Russian ship "on combat duty" close to Ukraine "engaged" a Storm Shadow missile with the Pantsir-M. However, no further details of the incident, including when it took place or which Russian warship was involved, were given.

The Russians recently captured a pair of reasonably intact Stormshadow missiles that look to have suffered a mechanical failure in flight, they were sent to Moscow for evaluation.

New Pantsir SMSV alteady 5 years has missiles range 40km. Moreover, has additional Mini Hypersonic missile undisclosed range, most probably 80-100km. Land based Pantsir has now 24 ready to fire insted of 12 and reloading truck can fire on it's own additional 36 missiles without needs to teloading. Present upgraded Pantsir is combinations of short and closely medium range air defense system. Presently Pantsir is a Marvel of air defenses. Mother Russia as always the Best.👌👍👏👏👏👏

However, I question the detection system detecting a Storm Shadow at 75km.
Flying at 100 foot above the ground means it's below the horizon for their radar.
What's obvious is that they aren't very good at shooting down Storm Shadow considering it's a subsonic speed missile.
Вы правы. Панцирь не сможет засечь цели не выше 30 метров на расстоянии 75 км. Но он замечает их на расстоянии примерно 20-40 км в зависимости от рельефа местности.
Этого вполне достаточно для защиты объекта где находится Панцирь.
Сами по себе аэродинамические цели для него не проблема. Панцирь более старой версии неплохо сбивал Хаймерс. Теперь программное обеспечение было ещё улучшено.

Nobody claimed Storm Shadow was infallible, or even 'cutting edge'. It's replacement is already on the horizon. The fact Russia has difficulty in coping with 'last generation' weapons sort of says it all.
Whats in the works, nothing is the thought it was the best also they never said they could not shoot it down. They just needed a cheaper way don't keep on believing in wester weapons they are only good for 3 or 4 rate countries. Against S300 or S350 it will take down the over hyped British missles but it's all about cost
