I imagine the NCR views the Courier as an outsider loyal to the ideals of the NCR and as someone who is willing to become a citizen. So the soldiers and officers treat him/her as part of the group even if the Courier isn't technically a citizen.
At least the courier got the highest civilian branch. Does anyone ever got such a thing outside the NCR? Good chances that there's none or almost. For someone who isn't NCR, this is a very big honor
It is absolutely incredible that the people that made fallout new Vegas was able to put this much content in the game in like 2 months. I however am very sad that they didn't allow you to enlist in the NCR military.
Honestly that would have been a terrible idea, being part of the military means following orders without saying anything, imagine going around doing patrols and not much else, just waiting for the Legion to show up so you can shoot with your crappy service rifle at them and pretend you have a chance.

When the NCR radio actually wants to work, they only ever send like one dinky soldier, after a few hours of course. Bureacracy, huh?
I mostly agree with RussianBadger… But the hostility he claims he always gets from the NCR? I’ve *never* seen unless I’ve been running around actively screwing them over, in which case I feel like a cold reception is warranted. Also aren’t they kind streached for dudes? Don’t blame soldiers for being jumpy. But yeah I always liked the warm and fuzzies I got whenever people were like “Seriously, thank you.” Or the NCR guy delivering the radio.
What i hate is that you cant properly join a Faction. besides the BoS wich makes no sense and has almost no value. Well you can mention it to the Follower Guy in Helios One. Oh and you cna join the Kings. And get a Haircut.
It makes sense though, and I think it might be partially deliberate to avert the 'absentee guild member' trope for once. In Skyrim you can stay guildmaster/harbinger/archmage of like 5 factions without ever seeing a single member of the faction again for the rest of your life. That's just not realistic. You're not a meaningful part of the faction at all, let alone a valuable part of the leadership. Meanwhile New Vegas handles the idea of a wandering protagonist very well. You're an independent contractor known for having worked with your chosen faction, but you're not really part of NCR's chain of command and you're not really a legionnaire. That explains why you can still dick around the Mojave or sign up to guard a Zion caravan etc without getting into trouble with your bosses. The only true 'boss' you could be said to have (if you choose that path) is House, and House gives you a lot of leeway and freedom to accomplish your tasks. Imo the faction reputation system is an incredible idea, since it accurately describes the average RPG protagonist's relationship with factions. I'm just pretty surprised that it isn't repeated for Fallout 4.
I can never help myself from siding with the NCR. Once you really get the ball rolling they really come around on you and you can see them come alive and become a proper functioning faction with some real march in their step. Especially so when you pull alliances together. They're not the best for the Mojave, no one is, but if I was somehow able to get Moore and Oliver booted from the Mojave campaign, I feel like I could be presuaded to be 100% on these guys. Lots of good people here and it feels good to help them out unlike Legion where they're all boring murderers or House who I struggle to trust.
I'm now convinced if Obsidian had like 2 years additional development time, we could've had an RPG as reactive and thorough as BG3 in 2012, what we have now is already great, imagine if they had more time
Legion reaction to idolized courier: Hey you did good job kicking profligate ass Ncr reaction to idolized courier: Oh my god thank you you are a hero Thanks god for sending you to help us

This never happens in fallout 4. It's just so amazing how obsidian implemented all these details into new vegas but bethesda could only implement bugs.
My biggest problem with the NCR is how they have so much plot armour in fallout games. To me the Enclave had half the plot armour of the NCR and BOS they would not have lost war. To me the Enclave who has space stations with nukes, massive air force, massive army and could have a massive merc if Enclave takes over New Reno.

I think that is because they expected people to have actually done some things before heading to the Frontier. I could understand the reaction if my character had just come from the Divide. I don't think the Frontier is meant for a brand new character.
@@omnipresentl1316 The same game were you cannot side whit the main baddies of their game.
@@streptococo4735 that's fair. But honestly that probably did people a lot of favors since we saw how long the NCR version of the quest is from their perspective.
@@streptococo4735
You've literally never been able to side with the Enclave once, short of I guess being a fucking idiot and poisoning your own water supply.
@@omnipresentl1316 i mean like they call you the Courier & Courier Six which is something literally only Ulysses calls you by iirc. Like you get mentioned by Mr. New Vegas on the radio and even then they describe you as just some person. Sure Hanlon does say "youre that courier folk" but as just your occupation rather than a title.
Hahah 2:14 "i can...do bad things" (Failed 9-35 speech check). Obsidian entertaiment writers are sooo talented. I wish someone would one day make a video with all failed checks in the NV Fallout.
Just hilarious -yet so simple.
It's funny how the Courier is technically not an actual NCR Trooper but people still treat you like one
Except in the NCR ending, you get a branch for being a "good citizen"
Well you technically aren’t enlisted in the NCR Army, so it makes sense
thy don't care they will take all the help they can get lol
You are more of a merc to them
I imagine the NCR views the Courier as an outsider loyal to the ideals of the NCR and as someone who is willing to become a citizen.
Honestly that would have been a terrible idea, being part of the military means following orders without saying anything, imagine going around doing patrols and not much else, just waiting for the Legion to show up so you can shoot with your crappy service rifle at them and pretend you have a chance.
hey now, the service rifle got one hell of an upgrade after they realized it was a lot weaker than it was supposed to be and patched it. Also, the available modifications seriously upgrade it further.
@@Jamesbrown-xi5ihthe survivalist rifle from honest hearts dlc is a good service rifle with its 12.7. But it only have a 10 round mag which blows.
@@kayzeaza yeah, but in real life a 20 round magazine only holds seven of those 50 caliber rounds, and a 30-round magazine somehow only holds 10.
Absolutely a lot of fun to shoot though.
a year and a half, but yeah
"little livelier than most"
"Murder fuels me"
It's amazing how they accounted for different lines of dialogue according to your reputation with different characters. It is especially with someone like Ranger Ghost where in a standard playthrough you are only neutral with the NCR when you reach her.
Anyone else like to RP as a Ranger on an NCR playthrough? I mean you basically are one in all but name by the end.
They're always glad to see you. It's oddly heart warming.
Your names “Eden’s Gate?” Must be from the Montana branch. Didn’t know the Mojave Express reached that far.
Damn Chief Hanlon mentioning the Goodsprings accident made me realise how alive the world of Fallout New Vegas really is, if you are idolised with the Ncr folks back in California talk about the Courier as a hero and know about them but if you are Vilified i can only imagine the worst.
Dr Richards always flirted with me as an opener EVERY time I talked to him last playthrough. It genuinely creeped me out, it was like a creepypasta or something.
Confirmed Bachelor perk?
@@Eboreg2 Ah, yes, that's probably what it was. I always use both romantic perks for the added dialogue and damage boosts lol, still it made me very uncomfortable. Like who tf is this guy and why is he hitting on me? It's like he was watching me for at least several minutes before I even met him and had already made up his mind about me, just creepy
@@RepresentWV Yeah... gaydar is a thing in Fallout: New Vegas.
I think the NCR radio might honestly be even more useless than the Minutemen artillery support. Artillery might take a while to warm up but at least they fuckin deliver. When the NCR radio actually wants to work, they only ever send like one dinky soldier, after a few hours of course. Bureacracy, huh?
Few hours? They spawn a few feet away behind you. Though requiring being near a ncr location is annoying
I mostly agree with RussianBadger…
But the hostility he claims he always gets from the NCR? I’ve *never* seen unless I’ve been running around actively screwing them over, in which case I feel like a cold reception is warranted.
Also aren’t they kind streached for dudes? Don’t blame soldiers for being jumpy.
But yeah I always liked the warm and fuzzies I got whenever people were like “Seriously, thank you.” Or the NCR guy delivering the radio.
You know, if you were serving you'd probably be half way to wishing for a nuclear winter by now
Razz: Aw sh*t here comes the brown noser what do y-
Courier: You'll have a purple nose to match that hair if you speak to me like that again, boy
Y’know, if you were serving you’d probably be halfway to general by now
I love how everyone's all "oh hey the hero is here!" But Razz is just there "oh crap, it's him, whaddya want?"
You talking smack about the Kings baby?
@@roykennedy😂😂😂😂😂😂
If you can basically legion will force u to wear their uniform and use their shit weapons, NCR will probably go through different inductions.
Yes, yes, we're all good friends until Oliver comes to congratulate us.
Mind the Securitrons on the way out of the Mojave.
4:25 this is my favourite quote in all of the game , just pure respect for the courier
1:07 I think if you are "accepted" or more you get this interaction, not just idolized
Crazy how most of ncr’s problems can be solved by one person willing todo a little leg work
Ranger Ghost locked in a room with another person: *"Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh! Hnh!"*
Ohhh damn
Your courier's name is Eden's Gate? Assuming I'm guessing the reference right, your taste in games is impeccable
patrolling the mojave almost makes you wish for an idolized courier
hey look someone had to do it ok?
Never used that damn ncr radio
Never used it for RP reasons - didn't want to have to explain to them that their ranger died helping me lol.
2:49 wait why does he call me buttercup in my game
your character may be fruity
I believe he does that if you have the Confirmed Bachelor perk
4:24. i didn't know you could enter outside of the quest and the disguise..
the more you know
Eden’s Gate? Patrolling Hope County almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
The ncr are the best hope for the Mojave no doubt, but they believe in taxes so I never side with them
TLDR of the vid: Thanks for saving us cause we're helpless without you.
When the ncr emergency radio works feels helpful to have a third follower or just to have ammo supply
4:40 Anyone else notice the dialogue dosen't match up with his voice?
Yet they call him Citizen at the end. He should be given general
Taking the monorail to the Strip makes you feel like such a baller especially when they let you walk right in
They act like you cared cancer and solved world hungry
The Courier kill every single Khan, destroyed the brotherhood and killed casear
Well the courier helps ncr's ass to tip the scale to their favor to avoid the losing battle against the legion so they better behave this way
If you do all the NCR side quests it is quite literally that
If you do all the NCR side quests it is quite literally that
Quartermaster Bardon looks pretty similar to Jamie Lannister.
"I like this line of thinking. What can YOU do for ME?"
Man… I never used the NCR ERadio
Speech 9 😭
I'm now convinced if Obsidian had like 2 years additional development time, we could've had an RPG as reactive and thorough as BG3 in 2012, what we have now is already great, imagine if they had more time
Akihiko is like every other dude in New Vegas.
"The name's edens gate" You keep that rifle at your side too?
Still not enough reputation to make Major Knight to tell me his name
The Hoover dam quart master can he convinced/allowed to buy stuff if you are good with them yk😂
Legion reaction to idolized courier:
Hey you did good job kicking profligate ass
Ncr reaction to idolized courier:
Oh my god thank you you are a hero
Thanks god for sending you to help us
Fallout Frontier then crank this up to eleven
I wonder how the NCR would react to a Courier that's neutral to them but a friend of the Legion
NCR staring directly at me, thank god we got someone famous like you around here. Me, Don's the brotherhood of steel power armor. Also NCR immediately after: who the fuck are you and why are you here, after already attempting to kill me with all of their pathetic firearms
For the Republic!
Razz acts tough towards NCR Idolized courier six but I bet he is nervous behind his cloak. Lol
This never happens in fallout 4. It's just so amazing how obsidian implemented all these details into new vegas but bethesda could only implement bugs.
This aged well.
How did you manage to get speech to 9
How do I join
You just help the ncr enough and you can get these dialogue options
Best ally tho... Because Tactical Companions
So much reinforcement dialogue is the NCR that understaffed?
Yes
The NCR may be hospitable but...
The House always wins.
Ok how do i get them to idolized?
What ramp?🤨
The name would please the father
This game really needed some more voice actors...
Thanks!
Thank you very much.
I always thought the response at 0:25 is cringe.
edens gate? Is that your courier’s name?
most of these are actually through just wearing their gear
I helped ncr forlone as much possible built up ground up
Does Curtis have any special dialogue? Given that he's actually a legion spy and not a real NCR member
Why are you were addressed as a soldier all the time? was it an option to join the NCR army?
No, I was wearing NCR gear so some of the NCR personnel were fooled by the faction disguise.
The NCR have clearly been misinformed about you, I've played enough FNV to recognise the disguised Frumentarius at 1:04
So... If you get idolized, you just get those special dialogue options, or is there more to it?
LoL Razz
What can I do for you
Ncr is the good ending by far
My biggest problem with the NCR is how they have so much plot armour in fallout games. To me the Enclave had half the plot armour of the NCR and BOS they would not have lost war. To me the Enclave who has space stations with nukes, massive air force, massive army and could have a massive merc if Enclave takes over New Reno.
Is this a mod?
No
Superstar
ncr even recruits ncr soldier wannabe
If you want to be idolized by the NCR. Just play Fallout: The Frontier 💀
Lmao I saw the comment section idolizing the Legion on the Legion Reacts to Idolized Couriers vid spewing hot garbage about how the NCR supposedly treats the Courier like trash despite having high rep, and all I'm seeing here is "Woah, the legendary Courier!" lmao. Disgusting Legion lovers will literally lie to try and make their faction look good. It's pathetic, but what else do you expect from that trash.
Degenrates like you belong on a cross
literally this, came to this vid from that one lmao its hilarious how deluded they are in trying to make the Legion out to be the good guys, like people it's okay to enjoy going the evil route in games, but dont pretend your character isnt
