    I agree, the 146 is an under appreciated aircraft in the sim. Glad you fly it every so often to mix it up and bring some more variety in aircraft

    It took me about 8 attempts to land this flight without crashing. Multiple bank angle spins into the ground. Even tried short hops from Eagle to Aspen and could not make that turn to 33. Finally did full flight again tonight and got down safely despite a very severe/short base turn to final. Most importantly, there are simmers that are entertaining, but your flights are the most educational that I have found and enjoyed. I have learned so much from them, and I have a PPL. And they are entertaining as well! I think that is due to your real world experience. I appreciate all your tutorials on all of the different aircraft you fly in simulation. Thanks for your tremendous contributions.

    Great video. The BAE146 is my favourite airplane in MSFS. Love that you give it some airtime on your channel.

    I agree. I just bought this last week. It was one of my favorites in the 80s. I was an aircraft refuel or and use the fuelUunited Epress 146s.

    That was a mesmerizing stream, and your commentary is so lively and engaging! As a first-time viewer of your channel, I was beyond impressed. I’m a big fan of the lovely HS/BAe 146, which made this stream so satisfying to watch.
    Also, I loved that this exemplar had the old-school steam gauge cockpit, rather than the newfangled EFIS cockpit, with its cutting edge early 1990s “devil’s sorcery” electronic displays.
    Thank you for taking the time, to share this awesome flight sim experience with us!

    Just added this beauty to my hangar.
    For me it is next to the DC-6 and DC-3 one of the most enjoyable aircraft to fly, especially because of the choise to fly it old school nav- with or without autopilot ... or using Lnav icw the MFS.
    Dispite it is a retrofit MFS, it is a great airplane to get the best of both worlds. Not sure why it is underrated, it can be a handfull to fly it - or a lazy push-button sitback and fly airplane.
    One thing is sure ... I'm hooked.

    Pretty sure circle to land is not permitted at least in the US with airliners. I know there’s been a lot of GA accidents doing circle approaches. Truckee comes to mind as a recent private jet crash. Good job though V1, I didn’t even know runway 33 was permitted for landing in Aspen.

    hi v1 why no reverses on the 146 is that because of the size of the engines great stream crazy approach does the tablet come with the plane

    • @jowenjv4463
      @jowenjv4463 Рік тому

      Can you explain furthermore please ? I'm interrested to know why BAe-146 had no reverses too. From my little research, size has nothing to do with that decision. But maybe you can add something to this.
      The reasons I found are the following :
      - increased weight, wear and maintenance on each engines. Add this to the fact that thoses engines were known to be quite unreliable at the beginning of their life and I understand the maintenance aspect.
      -Due to their arrangement under the wing, each engine could be prone to FOD ingestion because of the reversed flow created by the nearest engine.
      -Touchdown speed was very low for the 146, around 100kt only... On most aircraft (please @V1Sim correct me if needed) reverses are not supposed to be used under 60 to 70kts, so reverses would have very little effect before operating procedure would ask the pilot to retract them. The choice was therefore to use very powerful wheelbrakes with a good brake cooling system instead of reverses.
      I think those are good reasons, but it's only internet.. Would love to have BAe-146 engineer, mechanic or pilot's knowledge about that.

      Also perfect for the aircraft to be used at late night noise restricted airports such as London City.

    Tough to beat the fenix, especially when the fenix is so systems complete. For smaller planes, I really like the Kodiak also. Looking forward to picking up the TBM 850 from justflight tomorrow. Im a sucker for detailed msfs aircraft.

    • @robbyyant6213
      @robbyyant6213 10 місяців тому +1

      I can't help but think something is off with the Kodiak with how absolutely twitchy it is. Even lifting off the runway seems odd with how it jerks upward with the slightest elevator movement.

    • @joshallen4848
      @joshallen4848 10 місяців тому +2

      @@robbyyant6213 Try experimenting with increasing your pitch axis extremely dead zone. For example, if you set it to 20% then in the sim if you pull back (or forward) all the way, you'll only get 80% of the planes full potential pitch. And this equate to less twitch because you're now getting more bang for your buck on inputs at the cost of the higher ends of potential range.
      BUT unless it's a stunt plane or military jet, how often are you ever actually pulling or pushing in on the yoke/stick to 100%? So do you need those higher ends of potential range? Or would you rather trade that for fine control? I'd rather have fine control so I can butter my landings. And of course to avoid those twitchy inputs.
      For a starting point, on the pitch axis, try -2/-2 for sensitivities, (+)24ish% extremity dead zone, 95-98ish% reactivity 👌
      * Reactivity basically introduces a lag to your input. A slight time delay between your inputs and the plane reacting to them. 100% is instantly, so by reducing it slightly you can add a sense of inertia to your movements... (I wouldn't go much below 95% because it can go from realistic sense of inertia to unrealistic within a few percentage points)

    • @joshallen4848
      @joshallen4848 10 місяців тому +1

      PS - I currently have my roll axis set up as -2/2% on sensitivities, (+) 10ish% extremity dead zone, and then the same as whatever I have for pitch reactivity..
      It's all about finding sweet spots but it's worth it when you find them.

      @@joshallen4848 … thats a really good tip for those experiencing these type issues. I’ve adjusted mine as well. Just dont think much about it when things are all set up

    • @joshallen4848
      @joshallen4848 10 місяців тому

      @@jay-rus4437 By the way, was messing around last night. I don't think the roll axis needs as much extremity deadzone as I'd mentioned before.. If any. But experiment to see what you like.
      Also, I've got different profiles set up depending on what plane I'm flying. Basically, to make something feel heavier (airliner) I'll use a higher extremity deadzone for pitch. For something like a GA I'll use a lower deadzone... But I've been liking between 20-30ish% depending on what I'm flying.
      It totally nullifies that "pull back slightly on your yoke and experience dramatic pitch up" thing. I've been buttering all of my landings lately. 👍
