I loved this series with the first game being my favorite. The Callisto Protocol and The Evil Within have a lot in common, but unfortunately it's looking more and more like Callisto won't get a sequel that improves on the original like Evil Within did. Also, doesn't look like we'll be getting a third game.
It's always funny to me that people miss a huge detail. When Ruvik turns Leslie into goop that's when he escapes which is why he takes on a more monstrous form. That form is Sébastiens fear of ruvik and the convenient RPG and jeep are his mind being in control and creating what he needs to succeed.
@TeryonTheHuman Almost every review at launch missed it and many to this day. It's implied but never outright said, and that's why many questioned the final boss so heavily for being too "lucky" or by chance with the items, etc.
No matter what story implications it has. Sebastian having a rocket launcher land directly next to him is still so silly it’s charming so it doesn’t really matter
@TeryonTheHuman It is most definitely silly and charming as an ode to the Resident Evil series, often ending with RPGs killing the final boss. Yeah, I mean, it's goofy, but it's only because he had full control without even knowing it at that point. I thinknit was a komwnt where he was like fuck I wish I had an RPG right now and since he was the dominant mind at the time he made it so lol.
I've only just played through them this year and they are massive standouts. Even more so because the last Horror game i had my hands on was Callisto Protocol, which i've abandonned playing because it feels very cluncky and so extremely repetitive and for the portion i played the story was going absolutly nowhere. They are very different games for very different reasons. Your Evil Dead comparison to Evil Within makes perfect sense, first movie and first game have the protagonist thrown into this completly messed up scenario and they have to find their footing in this new realization of their world. While Army of the Dead and Evil Within 2 have their protagonists overcoming their fears and take responsability and do their personal growth in order to be the Hero. I also prefer the more Chapter oriented aproach, i was mostly using stealth to just speed through Union without conflicts to preserve resources. Open worlds are very rarely well utilized and from what i've played only 3 open worlds stand out for me. Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man 2018 and Watch_Dogs 1. The island in GHost of Tsushima is super beautiful and through it's side activities it includes alot of authentic Japanese culture, the hotspring baths, the haiku's, the fox shrines and the shrines in the mountains all offer varied aspects of the culture. Watch_Dogs Detroit feels very Noir which fits the series ( i can't wrap around my head why they went into total cartoon tone for the following games) Aiden Pearce is Watch_Dogs and the fact they've ditched all of that completly put me off from the rest of the series. And the small portion of NY from 2018's Spider-Man feels big enough and with manny important places without being a slog to get through.
For real when I beat the game i wanted to get Sebastiáns coat but nope Shinji said thanks for the money dummy and enjoy the rocket launcher also i love your vids great work cant wait to see what you release next
One thing I loved about this series and it's creater We're always talking about gaming audiences wanting the franchises to improve but when a company actually improves it, you hardly see any praise for it. There's very few game sequels that don't just expand the world and story brilliantly but also look at the errors of it's first game and improve on it massively The MC was bland as hell in the first game, in the 2nd one, they have him tons of character on the trauma he faced, the horrors he's facing again and his sadness over his wife. The gameplay is more level based and a bit open world with tougher enemies and you actually get catharsis over him overcoming much of the trauma he faced back in the real world. I hope it sold well cause I'd definitely love to see a third game about him facing Ruvik in the real world again.
@@shayanahmed7132 hate to break it to you but this entire studio was shut down by Microsoft last month. Tango Gameworks is no more and the evil within is discontinued
Because it's never a good thing when a sequel is just checking boxes off of fan complaints. By doing so you got the evil within 2 that didn't feel like an evil within game. Don't get me wrong part 2 was great but missing the charm of the original. ...and I HATED sebs new voice actor in part 2. Horrible decision

You're good my man 😂
Fun fact: the beginning of the game in the cop car did not happen. They were already in stem. The missing person ppster you get for sebastian in ng+ said that he was last seen investigating a missing person, not him being on route to the hospital. Josephs says that he was kast seen returning home, not on route. Finally, the conelly Poster says that he was last seen on patrol, not on route. So, this means that the beginning of the game did not actually happen and was in stem. The whole thing about the hospital massacre, i dont know how that happened. There are a couple theories, like stem had a wireless connection to the people, which, to me, doesnt make sense as how would they have died in the same way irl and why would they need to connect people to stem? Another one, which my sister told me of, that makes less sense is that the people were put in stem, and made it out, but they were hallucinating ruvik, so they killed each other, thinking that everyone else was ruvik. This doesn't make sense as in-game dialogue states that leslie was the only one that made it back. So it's just a mystery.
Open world games are popular because not everyone plays the same or prioritizes the same things in a game it’s harder to please those people with a game that sticks to to set areas I think a game like infamous 2 blends both styles but that’s just rare to find
bro i dont fucking care if the game looks ugly with high fov i just dont want to get a fucking migraine\motion sickness because it feels like im looking at everything through binoculars
@TeryonTheHuman yeah it "plays" fine the problem is the difference in the way people brains react to it. those ppl are not "babys" they are experiencing a sensation (discomfort) that you're not. in re7/8 i cant play the game on default fov without getting a massive headache after 30mins. if the game is 3rd person (re2r/re4r) i wont experience it. it has to do with the game being first person and the movement of the camera.
@@TeryonTheHumanwell, to be fair, making games unenjoyable to play due to the FOV causing them nausea is a valid enough reason for them to complain about a lack of that option I'm not really affected like that from low FOV, but that doesn't mean others won't be either, I know how shit it must feel like, since Wolfenstein 2009 literally has me feel that way, due the insane head bobbing that makes me feel like I've been a passanger next to an extremely shitty driver on a swirvy road, I had to go home from my friend when he was playing it in 2013 because if I watched the game any longer, I probably would have had to vomit and yeah the Resident Evil 4 example looks ugly, but I think that is an extreme example though, most people are fine as long as the FOV is around 75-90 as far as FPS games are concerned other than that, I really liked your review/analisys, finally someone I agree with, saying that the 1st game is better and has more charm, I feel like the sequel has some mechanical and gameplay improvements at the cost of some of it's identity and soul compared to the first game
All nonsensical things including Ruvik's random appearance and his one hit kill abilities is justified since you're inside the world he created, c'mon I thought you're better than this. Also wether it's just a theory or already confirmed, the reason why your sprinting speed is pretty slow is because you can't run so fast either when you're dreaming, most people experienced this in their sleep (I believe it called REM atonia)
Every now and then I read a comment so ridiculous and so silly that I don’t even know where to begin dismantling the logic behind it. It’s that time again I see. I wish I spoke more than one language to convey all the different ways that I don’t give a single fuck what the “logic” behind Ruviks chapter 9 shenanigans are because he’s annoying as shit to deal with and poorly designed. As far as justifying the piss poor sprint duration with dream world shenanigans?…..just no dude lmao
Had to fix and reupload this because I accidentally deleted a key audio track before I went to work and rendered everything out.
Whoops
I was wondering what happened lol I was watching it last night and suddenly I couldn’t even find it anymore when I came back to it
