Today we take a look an IK Multimedia's new mastering processor for T-Racks CS, this is the Stealth Limiter. Simply put, the most transparent mastering limiter available. In the current state of music, it's all about loudness. The overall sound level has increased exponentially and this is very detrimental to your music's sound quality. The Stealth Limiter has the perfect name because you know it's there, but you'll definitely feel it. After the video, head over to IK Multimedia and purchase your copy.

Cool beat. But this didn't really show what this thing can or can't do. I find that most limiters outputting at a mild RMS level don't distort. At the loudest point you had it, this was only outputting -5RMS briefly and for the most part was -12 to -8 RMS which is pretty quiet. Modern hip-hop and EDM output is in the -3RMS range now. If you're trying to put a limiter through it's paces, it's at these extremes where it either rocks or flops. I've personally tested every limiter out there and the A.O.M. Invisible Limiter has yet to be outperformed by anything else I've tried. Check it out. :)

The video is two years old and it's amazing how many high end limiters there are by now. Barricade v4, Invisible limiter, dmg limitless, Tdr limiter 6 ge , Pro L and the list is growing. Though from a price point of view the barricade is amazing and the Limiter 6 Ge is unbelievably good. The 200 euro priced software limiters.,,,,, sorry but you are getting serious competition

Good mixing balance is much more important than how much a limiter can compress before it distorts. A well balanced mix will always sound better even mastered with "mortal means" than a bad mix mastered with high end gear. Ask any mastering engineer or even better try to compress a good premaster and do the same with a bad mixdown. Too bad that there are so many videos about products that will not save you fro a bad mixdown (am not referring to the video here) and so little number of tutorials with ways to get to a good balance. Getting good at mixing requires either a lot of talent and a lot of work or if you are average like me it means A LOT of exercise and practice and patience and and and ....
