Couple things, when I go to my spotify settings on my phone, I don't see 'Local Network' (yes I'm using an iPhone) - everything else was the same. Even when I clicked the download arrow on my phone it loaded for a second but nothing happened
The problem I’m having is that it’s not downloading the songs on my PC. Their all in a playlist and I click download, but then my phone says “songs not downloaded” anyone know
So I solved this problem. Your Firewall on windows may recognize your wifi as public "not trusted" net and it will not allow the sync. Next problem may be in your antivirus - my AVG has a feature of "advanced firewall" which categorized my wifi as "not trusted". I turned of this feautre for one minute and the sync started working! Gl!
For anyone who is having the issue of Local Files not showing up on the left hand side like in the video, I found it where it says 'Your Library' under playlists. I don't know why it isn't showing up on the homepage but I hope this helps.
Is this an iOS only feature? I have premium and all that, am in the same network, etc. Songs show up, I can select them if I do the Spotify Connect thing to control stuff played on PC with my phone but I can't play it on my phone at all. There is also no Local Files option in the settings. Maybe it just doesn't work on Android which would be sucky.
It seems to be iOS only. I have the same problem, really frustrating. What worked for me was disabling the Firewall on my computer and the local songs was directly synced to my phone.
@@s0g3 It actually resolved itself (for now? I haven't tried again since) in a really weird way. I restarted my PC, my phone, everything multiple times to no avail, checked every option, firewall, etc multiple times, nothing. I really enjoyed the video, but I can’t seem to get pass this problem. Basically I converted a song from UA-cam into a mp3 file on my Mac and it seemed to play just fine, as in the song plays on the desktop and everything. I then created a folder to drag the song into so that I can open that folder though “Add a Source”, and the song appeared grey’d out. Since it’s grey’d out it won’t add to the local files. Is there something I’m not doing correctly when converting to mp3 or what is it? Thank you to anyone who responds.
You are the fucking goat man! I spent 4 hours trying to figure out why my local file songs were greyed out, and it was all because of the windows firewall. Mad respects to you for real.
So i did everything you said and the songs show up on my phone and are downloaded but when i click on a song to play it it plays for 0.1 seconds then closes it out and wont let me play it anyone know how to fix this?

Same here. It used to work, then suddenly they stopped working. I deleted them and redownloaded them, same issue still.
Same problem. I wish I could provide something more useful to this conversation, but I got nothing, so I'm leaving this comment here so I get a notification in case someone else figures it out :(
I tried for years to make this work. Your video finally got it working for me. Thank you!
I was literally doing this for logics mixtapes as well, what a coincidence haha
It worked great! I tried many other fixes and nothing worked but this! You earned a subscription. Thank you
I used to always be able to do this without any problems, but since I switched my main downloaded songs to a separate playlist and stopped downloading the added songs they disappeared. this should't be a problem but I can't add them again. I tried adding new songs as well but I can't add those either, even though I followed every step of the process... what am I doing wrong?
Edit- I tried doing clean uninstalls as well.. I tried everything and it’s not just the local files that won’t download, every single playlist gives me the gray arrow.. I’m going to go insane
holy shit this solved every issue I've had with linking my files to my phone. Thanks so much!!
Why don't I see local files as a folder in my library?
i have the same problem
Go to the 3 dots above , press on it and choose edit .
Scroll down till u find the option (show local files)
Edit then preferences (my bad)
I couldn't too! Just update your phone and it should be there! :)
Click on 'my library', it's in there
OMG You're a life saver. That one step going to Windows Defender Firewall was a trick!
VIDEO CORRECTION - Typing Windows Defender into the search bar and opening the app does not reveal the same screen that is displayed in the video (2:05). To get the screen shown, you need to open the control panel (type 'control panel' into search bar and open it).
This disparity might've been enough to throw a few people.
Thanks bro, i was one of those few people
Couldn’t figure this out and was getting super frustrated. Thanks so much! 😊
The song is still gray and doesn’t want to play I’ve deleted and redownloaded any help?
I fixed it
@@conchamoncha5332 how did you fix this?
@@OhioStateKid41 you have to add your song to a playlist connect your phone to your desktop make sure th music is coming from desktop and then like the song and download it
@@conchamoncha5332 nothing works for me
THANK YOU!!!!! ive been trying to figure this bullshit out for AGES!!!! it finally worked!!!
Dont know if anyone else had this issue and has sorted it but my computer is on ethernet - cannot do wireless - and so isnt on the same network as my phone. any work around?
omg tysm the firewall part is what I needed to do, would've never figured this out myself thank you again
FOUND A FIX: make sure when you convert the YT video to mp3 that it has a bit rate (kbps) so it can play on your phone (EDIT: make sure to double check after downloading the mp3 file by right clicking > properties > details and check bitrate because sometimes it doesn’t download right and might have to redownload for bitrate)
did you know how many bitrates has to be??
@@palaciosmnz It can be anything from 128 to 320kbps but the more kbps the better the audio will sound
omfg i love you so much
@@CODShowcase I already did that, its still not working
@@ItsVes999 did you find a fix?
thank you for mentioning the windows firewall. All the other tutorials didn't mention it and I kept on wondering why it wouldn't work. Thanks!
I’m trying to download this song but it’s not playing on my phone. It shows on my phone but when I click into it the song stops playing. The odd thing is that it worked a couple of days ago (with the same exact song), and other songs I downloaded worked too.
I tried to delete and download the song again but it didn’t work. Does anyone know how to fix it?
did u find a fix
finally , thank you so much , some of my friends tried to explain it to me how it works but it didnt work at all for me but now it works because of your video ahah thanksssssssss
Couple things, when I go to my spotify settings on my phone, I don't see 'Local Network' (yes I'm using an iPhone) - everything else was the same. Even when I clicked the download arrow on my phone it loaded for a second but nothing happened
i never comment but you my friend are a hero
Make sure your local files are mp3's as Spotify local files only supports those and not WAVs
my phone wont download the songs and i did everything the video did help
The problem I’m having is that it’s not downloading the songs on my PC. Their all in a playlist and I click download, but then my phone says “songs not downloaded” anyone know
maybe your pc is using direct internet through a cable
add the songs to a playlist then download
So I solved this problem. Your Firewall on windows may recognize your wifi as public "not trusted" net and it will not allow the sync. Next problem may be in your antivirus - my AVG has a feature of "advanced firewall" which categorized my wifi as "not trusted". I turned of this feautre for one minute and the sync started working! Gl!
@@kucibuk0921 yo where can i find if my wifi is not trusted
Thanks so much, went through so many sites that were no help at all and finally ended up here
thank you so much !! this helped me a lot, i've been trying to figure it out for the past hour and the windows defender wall thing made it work for me
You're a G dude I've been trying to figure this out for months now
For anyone who is having the issue of Local Files not showing up on the left hand side like in the video, I found it where it says 'Your Library' under playlists. I don't know why it isn't showing up on the homepage but I hope this helps.
thank you sm
THANKS MAN!
thank you bro this was so helpful!! didn't know my firewall was blocking me from downloading unreleased songs, so thank you
I guess they changed or updated something in Spotify because currently does not work for me
Wow, it finally worked, seems that firewall was the problem, thanks!
Then my PC crashed while playing a game and when I restarted from that crash, Spotify on PC only loaded halfway (as in, the app was open but nothing was showing in the app) but at that moment my phone suddenly synced those local files lol
Thank you so much dude ive been trying to get songs on spotify for a while now with no luck, but this finally worked! Great tutorial man thank you so so much.
I followed every step, but I still can't get them on my phone. When I press the download button on the playlist, nothing happens...
Did you ever get it to work ?

I really enjoyed the video, but I can’t seem to get pass this problem.
Basically I converted a song from UA-cam into a mp3 file on my Mac and it seemed to play just fine, as in the song plays on the desktop and everything. I then created a folder to drag the song into so that I can open that folder though “Add a Source”, and the song appeared grey’d out. Since it’s grey’d out it won’t add to the local files. Is there something I’m not doing correctly when converting to mp3 or what is it? Thank you to anyone who responds.
Also following
Press the file then press open
Did you make sure you set your Spotify to see local files? I'm not sure if this is the fix, but just checking might help
Also following. It worked fine before then I had to switch the app I uses to convert to mp3 and it stopped working
