I just bought a PC-Engine Super CD-Rom2 "tested and working" but the motor doesnt spin up. any ideas what could be the problem? ive checked all the connections, greased up the laser mechanism (that moves fine). the disc wont spin.
@@omusubisenpai well, after greasing the gears on the CD drive, strangely with power on, the motor spins the disc anticlockwise constantly until it tries to read the disc, then the motor changes to clockwise and it starts to spin clockwise, usually failing to read. after about 15 mins of power it seems to warm up and reads the discs ok every time. very strange, I've checked the polarity and its all correct. I have never come across a CD drive that spins anticlockwise until needing to read the disc. The Capacitors seem ok, none leaking or swelling and the laser moves freely in all directions, including up and down when trying to focus. perhaps its just old and needs warming up.

If the motor does not work even after replacing the capacitor, why not check the continuity of the motor?

Isn't it necessary to adjust the pickup lens?
