I am working on a project upright piano and I am replacing the damper lever springs. The replacements came in 3 batches, bass springs, middle sprints and treble springs, three different gauges of wire. Is it usual for the bass notes to have a heavier touch than the tenner section?

Thank you for your question Peter. It sounds like a good project. Yes that's right, likewise the upper treble to be lighter. ER
if i am planing to keep steinway for the rest of my life shuld i buy new or restored?
Sorry, but that piano sounds quite bad. Cheap. Like a Baldwin upright. Not a Steinway.
