  • Concept of the Movie "In Time":
In a dystopian future, the aging gene has been switched off. People stop aging at 25 but are engineered to live only one more year. They can earn, spend, trade, or steal more time to extend their life. The rich can live forever, while the poor die young.
On one's 25th birthday, a timer on their forearm starts counting down from one year. When it reaches zero, that person "times out" and dies instantly.
This time can be transferred between individuals through physical contact, and time can also be earned or spent like currency.
    Gambling with Life Time:
In the film, there are numerous instances where characters "gamble" with their time. The most explicit scenes involve a game similar to arm wrestling, where participants can win or lose time based on the outcome. It's a literal gamble with one's life on the line.
    Dangerous Scene Description:
There's a scene where the protagonist, Will Salas (played by Justin Timberlake), engages in a time-arm wrestling match with a man who has centuries on his clock. Both players risk losing their life, as the loser's time will be transferred to the winner. As their timers dwindle, the tension rises. This scene is a graphic representation of the movie's central theme: the high stakes of life and time in a world where time is currency.
The film "In Time" is a critique of socio-economic disparities, using time as a metaphor for wealth and exploring the lengths to which people will go to survive and the inherent dangers of a system where life is commodified.

It's more common with people who've gone to the same casino multiple times but for the sake of the movie I assume the house is covering his bet for the missing years in the pot because he's willing to go all in (die). Look at that from the house pov. Super rich guys get a fun hand a show and they win a nice pot. But unfortunately this isn't the case because will would have had to pay back those covered years and as we see he wins the full amount. So as you said before. Yes. this is very convenient he had the exact years.

People never age and have a glowy watch that kills them immediately when it ticks down all the way, and plot convenience is what trips you up?
Phillipe knows exactly how much Will has. In fact, as they're head's up, there's no real reason for Phillipe to "raise 2 centuries" which is effectively putting Will all-in instead of just stating he's all-in and putting enough to cover Will. The only reason he bets it like he does, with only the third nuts, is to flaunt that 2 centuries is barely anything to him and he's just willing to pay it for the opportunity to watch a man fall over dead at the table.

What is the time? How does it work? Is there bootleg time? Can people still grow old? If they get more time will they become young again? Will it happen immediately or over a period of time? How long is that period of time? If time is limited how much is there actually? Who decided? How?

Time is the amount of time they have left to live. Everyone ages until 25. And then a clock appears on their arm. Time is also the currency so people work for more time, pay for things with the time, etc. when that clock hits zero you die
