While the numbers don't lie on Luka, I believe this is mostly caused by his inability to play solid defense as opposed to 'empty' offensive stats. Sure, he'll grab a few steals here and there but moves slowly and leaves a lot of open space - making the mavs vulnerable to both drive+score as well as open looks from beyond the arc. This can change with time, but I think it's unfair to discredit the scoring, facilitating, and 'clutch' factor that Luka brings to the table. Furthermore, the fact that he is one of the most used players in the league (usg rating) also doesn't showcase a consecutive longevity without him, so I'd be curious to see these numbers if his usage was more 'normalized'. Interesting analysis though and speaks volumes about the importance of Embiid, Jokic, and Giannis.
Another huge knock on Embiid is the drop in scoring when he makes the playoffs. If I remember correctly, it's something like 10 points less a game, the largest drop in NBA history.

We’ve gotten so used to a fast guy league that we’ve forgotten the greatness of the big man game, and the great thing about Jokic is that he has the playing style of Shaq, the shooting ability of Hakeem, and the basketball IQ of Larry Bird. Jokic’s production prove that the old ways aren’t gone and he’s brought it back and better than ever.

Also, he's leaving out a very important point. Lebron scored most of his points when Kawhi wasn't on the floor. According to statistics Lebron was 10-20% less likely to be involved in a play when Kawhi was on the floor and was much less likely to attempt a shot with Kawhi guarding him. Kawhi guarded him far better than any other player on the Spurs and slowed him down in the minutes that mattered. I respect that you don’t put nearly the same asterisk on the 2019 title as everyone else. The Raptors were the best team in the league that year and they deserved to win the championship
I'm a bucks fan but Jokic is the best of this era. One of the most phenomenal players ever, the most unique player ever other than maybe Magic and Wilt in their eras.
Jokic currently has the highest PER for Career of all time, ahead of Jordan, Wilt & Lebron, and he’s not done. Projections have him doing better next year. Don’t see any teams that can stop them from getting to the finals this year and Denver has beat Boston 4 out of the last 5 games. Flash forward 2.2 years --> Jokic has 5 MVP’s total and 4 Rings, now has the all time high for career PER with 29.7 with the most years and most consecutive years of 30+ PER in a season with 6 (no one else has more than 3) And the 2 best seasons of all time with PER. At the end of Luka Doncic’s current contract, he gets fed up with the Mavericks and “defects” to Denver where he is able to team up with Jokic for the highest Basketball IQ super-team in history and add 3 or 4 more rings. At this point the Wemby will be begin to be in his prime as well as SGA and Holmgren will be in their prime to give them a run for their money. It’s going to be an interesting ride.
I think people need to distinguish between being the GOAT and an all-time great. GOATs are players who are basically incredibly good and have had excellent careers, so like MJ, Bron, Kareem, Magic, Kobe. Basically the top 5 players All time greats just refers to the players who haven’t achieved something in terms of career success, or weren’t as individually dominant. So like KD, AI, Karl Malone. I see it as a spectrum, so the more an all time great proves themselves, the closer they get to GOAT conversation

I feel like giannis could either be a top 10 player all time or end up being another Demarcus cousins(still an amazing player dont get me wrong) and it really just depends if he gets his shooting down or not. Coming from a big time bucks fan too
No. Jokic is a decent defender but on top of that he is a historic passer. And just looking at number of points isn't telling much, Giannis gets his through one of the highest usage rates and with the most free throw attempts. Jokic's scoring is based on ridiculous efficiency, with shooting splits that completely blow Giannis' out of the water at every spot on the court.
Whoever comes out of the east or west, is the best team to beat all odds . So , it should not be an asterisk. Its not a player fault if his team is weak and is not his fault if the best player does not show up in the final
For Giannis his shooting keeps getting worse because he's bulking up without practicing. He has all this extra strength and size with no idea how to use it in his shot.
Lebron scored like 4 points on Kawhi in the last 3 games of the 2014 finals while the score was within 10 points... Kawhi's work on Lebron is beyond ridiculous... Bron did all his scoring while the game was out of reach and when Kawhi wasn't on him... that 2014 Finals MVP doesn't deserve an asterisk
Its ok that embiid didn't make past the second round, its just that his performance drops off a whole lot which indicates he is indeed a fraud in the playoffs but still a load managing regular season beast
my definition of the goat is not titles but gameplay, how do you impact the game within the rules, and luka is the goat of pure basketball, he is pure, everyone else looks mechanical, including the current and past goats, i would define it as close control the likes of messi but in basketball and jokic is like zidane or something
giannis is 100% the goat, he got all the achievments jokic has +1 defesnive player of the year award, and i find ti absoloutley idootic to say he cant be the goat because he cant shoot, you gonna use that logic with MJ because he could shoot 3pt? or Kareem? or Shaq?
Kawhi held lebron down a lot during that heat spurs finals. Whatever scoring LeBron did to hold his high ppg was done in garbage time and when kawhi was benched.
on the jayson tatum vs jaylen brown thing you just didn't even mention a reason why jaylen brown could be considered better other than their contracts? Tatum is literally better at everything than jaylen brown: scoring, passing, defense. The debate on who's better was obvious from the start and people just wanna support someone they believe is underrated.
I'm tired of people saying "GOAT of x period". GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time for a reason, the ALL TIME part seems to get lost in translation. I think it's time for someone to come up with a new word/acronym.

He mentioned that two of current stars (Lebron and Steph obviously) does belong in the previous gen. But, wtf did KD doing? He’s from the 2000’s era 🤣
HEY THATS MY NAME
Its ok that embiid didn't make past the second round, its just that his performance drops off a whole lot which indicates he is indeed a fraud in the playoffs but still a load managing regular season beast
The kd disrespect in the beginning was crazy
The greatest regular team to ever exist. Record-wise. The Bulls won the year they had the record previously.
That's why he said *regular season*.
my definition of the goat is not titles but gameplay, how do you impact the game within the rules, and luka is the goat of pure basketball, he is pure, everyone else looks mechanical, including the current and past goats, i would define it as close control the likes of messi but in basketball and jokic is like zidane or something
giannis is 100% the goat, he got all the achievments jokic has +1 defesnive player of the year award, and i find ti absoloutley idootic to say he cant be the goat because he cant shoot, you gonna use that logic with MJ because he could shoot 3pt? or Kareem? or Shaq?
Jimmy is a goat. He damn near went to 4 straight finals. Thats almost half the decade 😂
Nikola Jokic is not the GOAT of this era
He is
Kawhi held lebron down a lot during that heat spurs finals.
Sooo... Luka is not the goat because his team is... okay without him?
Rebound Rewind trying desperately to find any arguments for why Nikola Jokic isn't the GOTE
Bruce brown has to be on here
notice how sga isn’t on this list
I think the goat of this era is curry because he’s been doing great for longer than everyone named in this video
That doesn't mean that he's not a bad player
1996 Bulls greatest regular season team ever
Brown just got overpaid lmao 😂
That doesn’t mean anything.
Where’s Josh giddey?
I'll never get the hate Kevin Durant gets
I don't like Celtics but c'mon now...Tatum clears Brown, it's not close bruh🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Under 10 minutes gang like this comment pls
To me, it's still Steph Curry's era. You mentioned him in the description twice, but not in the video.
Where’s Steph and Lebron. Also Caruso???????????
I'm tired of people saying "GOAT of x period". GOAT stands for Greatest Of All Time for a reason, the ALL TIME part seems to get lost in translation. I think it's time for someone to come up with a new word/acronym.
Luca now made the finals in 2024 lost in 5 to the Celtics
Hi
W
im stealing tf outta GOTE
Where curry?
Luka saw this video and put up 73
