I have used mine for 3 years and 100s of nights between work (military) and backcountry hunts. Cooking, drying gear, ect and no issues.

Firemaple products are consistent in their good quality. Wish the more expensive stoves had the same cool case.

Wow at first I thought it might be minimal improvements but the level of control on the flame really makes a huge difference. The idea that one of the older stoves can stop turning off is worrying enough to justify the upgrade but throwing in the fact that it’s also more useful is amazing

I would buy one, but I already have 2 stoves, that I've had for years.
THANKS for the vid, as usual, enjoyed the heck out of it.

I made tin can alcohol stoves...50 of em. Use 91% . Can see the flame. 1 oz burns @ 15 minutes. Makes coffee. Boils water for freeze dried food. Doesn't like wind , but was really inexpensive . Bought a lot of alcohol.. multiple uses. I can deal with the wind. Disabled.. don't have the money I used to. The harder it gets to make it the less preps . Plan accordingly ! Luck... and thanks for the info. Blessings ! Mike ✝️🙏❤️

Mine don't burn for 15 minutes. How do you make yours?

@@dirtyscoundrel2013 just follow a tutorial on how to make a penny stove, super at stove, fancy feast stove, etc.
But to be honest, my current favorite is just burning alcohol directly on a mints or vaseline tin. Some have holes in the hinge, but you can seal them with aluminium tape. Some people use carbon felt or fiber glass as a wick/spill safety but that is really optional.
30ml undoubtedly burns for 12+ minutes and it is enough to cook pasta, lentils, some kinds of rice, etc.
It's all about the wind protection design. You can make a very simple por stand out of a beer can. I find the Trangia triangle to be the reference to how much air needs to get in and out

@@petemainacc I make the basic soda can model. I tried double wall, insulation etc. None really worked well as the basic. I've made some that use vegetable oil but they smoke like crazy

@@dirtyscoundrel2013 might be the fuel or windy conditions. I use bioethanol 90%. Perhaps just get a Trangia.

That looks to be a good improvement in a couple ways. As mentioned, you have the better pot supports and wider burner for improved control. Additionally that style of burner is always much quieter than the blow torch style burner.
It's really all about the burner design. The wider burner is what gives it the better flame control and quieter operation.
You might just do a fuel consumption test between the two styles for fun. Typically the wider burner can consume more fuel but a difference that only worries gram weenies.
As i tend to cook and not just boil water i prefer this style burner just like the one currently sold at Walmart though that one is definitely bigger.
Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Thanks for the video, it was great to see the stove in action. Question: would you recommend this as a stove to use daily for a long (2-week) bikepacking trip? Or is it too fiddly? thanks!

This one is actually well made, the BRS25 i would not take as my only stove but this one would easily hold up to 2 weeks of use or much more

    George
What was that bone broth you were using? Did you have it in another video that a may have missed?
I wonder if that would work as a shelf stable broth mixture for "travel".
I don't like using "cubes" as they are high salt and my preferred at home "Better than bullion" requires refrigeration. Something like that might make a good base for a suop or stew made from other freeze dried ingredients.
By the way thanks for the Thivelife reviews.
