I think theres a lot of stuff in the switch that hasn't been used yet, for example : the led ring, which is used to get notify if you get an invitation, etc. Which now the led ring is useful now
Nintendo always says that "its not a replacement of x console" and 2 years laters it replace it, this happens with the gameboy, ds, they even say the switch wasnt a replacement of the wii U just to replace it in one year

They can say what they want but it basically is. When the Switch Lite was announced, the New 3DS XL was discontinued leaving only the 2DS and New 2DS XL(ironic that the only 3DS models sold now don't have 3D). They also announced that no more first party games are being made for the 3DS.
I mean, Nintendo haven't said that no more first-party games are being made, they only announced that Nintendo has nothing 3DS-related to announce at this point (and that was back in April at their investor's meeting) and altough it's pretty unlikely that anything is being made for the 3DS at this point, their statement doesn't completely deconfirm the possibility. Another thing to consider is that when Nintendo shifted from the Game Boy Advance to the Nintendo DS, they basically went from 3 co-existing systems (GBA, DS, NGC) down to 2 (technically 4 to 2 if you consider the fact that they were already making games for the then-upcoming Wii by this point). Now if they kill the 3DS, they're going from 2 systems down to 1. Which by itself isn't necessarily a bad move, but since Nintendo's other ventures (eg. Amiibo, mobile games, theme parks) don't make them nearly as much money as a new console would, it makes them over-reliant on that one system they care about. And if we look at sales of Nintendo's past platforms (especially their home consoles), it's been a rollercoaster ride for sure with multiple ones being considered big failures for the company. What I'm getting at is, if they launch a "Switch 2" with major flaws and it's going to perform like the Wii U did sales-wise, they're screwed. I really hope they're aware of this, and that they're currently working a new clever alternative that can legitimately co-exist with both the current Switch as well as with the Switch's main successor. It would also be a nice way to keep Nintendo in the spotlight while the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Scarlett systems are starting the next console generation and also while the Switch is older and older and thus more and more irrelevant. With the statement they made last year in June when they've said that they're considering multiple possibilties to succeed the 3DS (Keyword: Multiple!) and now they're coming through with another saying that the Switch Lite will still not replace the 3DS, I'm sure they're playing smartly and it's only a matter of time until we see another console that's not a Switch-variant!

i love my switch lite!! obviously it’s much cheaper but the feel of it is super nice too. i only really see myself playing handheld games on it so not being able to connect to the tv really isn’t a problem, and it really doesn’t lack that many games in my opinion. i just really love its vibe
what if you want to play some multiplayer games with your friends? and it doesnt have hd rumble. which isnt really much of a problem but it just feels super weird playing without it. overall, i guess the switch lite is a good idea for dedicated handheld players (especially people who like to play alone) or maybe you're just one of those people who are trying to be "AEStHeTiC" by using ✨AccEsoRiEs✨ edit: oh yeah i forgot it also doesnt have tabletop mode too.

I love my switch lite. I always loved the idea of such a powerful handheld and I don't regret buying it one bit. I never really got why I would want to play this on a TV. The whole point that made the original switch so awesome in my eyes is the fact that it's basically a handheld.

I don't really agree with the cross d-pad being "better" than separate buttons. You have all the same inputs with buttons as you do with a cross, but with buttons, you have to *mean* to push the direction it goes, while a cross may read a diagonal input where you mean to input a cardinal direction. Or vice versa.
The switch lite would be brilliant as a handheld only but the biggest draw back is the joycon drift because once that happens you have to buy new controllers and basically just use it on table top mode

@Dark Shadow Storm Sure the Nintendo switch is portable, but you would need a bulky case that some how you can fit in your pocket or bag, or if you don't have a case then you need to put the Nintendo switch in your pocket, that one, it will be super uncomfortable, and two the joy cons will wiggle around and maybe break off, which in the Nintendo switch lite since is smaller, you can just put it in your pocket, there's also table-top mode, that you can just find something sturdy enough so your switch can stand, heck there's actually a case for the Nintendo switch lite that comes with a stand, plus this version is made for people that can't have the whole kit, from the dock, to the joy cons, etc, is a nice and comfortable option.
But in all seriousness, If the switch lite shares the same drift problems with the regular switch, that can be problematic for people who don’t own any other controllers. Not to mention, the joy cons on the lite can’t be removed

You can play on the tv, it comes with two detachable joycons, it has more battery life than the switch lite and it’s basically the switch lite but with all of the above

I don't really agree with the cross d-pad being "better" than separate buttons. You have all the same inputs with buttons as you do with a cross, but with buttons, you have to *mean* to push the direction it goes, while a cross may read a diagonal input where you mean to input a cardinal direction. Or vice versa.

The switch lite would be brilliant as a handheld only but the biggest draw back is the joycon drift because once that happens you have to buy new controllers and basically just use it on table top mode

epicduck234 actually it’s better than the normal switch if we’re talking handheld, it feel lighter, more comfortable and plays games amazingly well too🔥 and since it’s a bother connecting the switch to my room because I have a tiny room, I just pull out my Nintendo switch lite and start gaming🤺 I go out a lot of times so having it in car rides is also amazing. That’s why I want the lite😁

@Dark Shadow Storm Sure the Nintendo switch is portable, but you would need a bulky case that some how you can fit in your pocket or bag, or if you don't have a case then you need to put the Nintendo switch in your pocket, that one, it will be super uncomfortable, and two the joy cons will wiggle around and maybe break off, which in the Nintendo switch lite since is smaller, you can just put it in your pocket, there's also table-top mode, that you can just find something sturdy enough so your switch can stand, heck there's actually a case for the Nintendo switch lite that comes with a stand, plus this version is made for people that can't have the whole kit, from the dock, to the joy cons, etc, is a nice and comfortable option.

But in all seriousness, If the switch lite shares the same drift problems with the regular switch, that can be problematic for people who don’t own any other controllers. Not to mention, the joy cons on the lite can’t be removed
