That spare cable is actually very good, because you can't buy N5005 replacement cables on the AKG website. It doesn't use a standard MMCX socket, so sourcing a replacement cable would be a headache. The N5005 uses a proprietary MMCX cable socket. (Or that is what I have read.) It's actually why I am checking out this video, to be quadruple sure what cables are shipped.
...Unless I am completely delusional, I am actually able to fit one of these cables with my Onkyo E900M which also uses MMCX and it works completely fine. I am also using the Bluetooth cable with a pair of UE900 and it also works without a hitch.
@@EarphoneusFanaticus I hope you are right. I read that the N5005 uses proprietary MMCX on Head-Fi, in the N5005 thread. There's some discussion of it in very recent posts. I have read the whole Head-Fi N5005 thread though, and folk have mentioned proprietary MMCX before. …. www.head-fi.org/threads/akgs-new-flagship-iem-n5005.869344/page-60 If cables could be freely swapped, then that would be perfect. I have the AKG N40, and would like to use an AKG balanced cable on them. (This is because I have a DAP with a balanced output.) If I bought the N5005, then I would have hoped to use its balanced cable on my N40. However I have always been told that is not possible. I think it's the case that the fitting isn't quite right.
@@threecats8219 My point is, if they are freely interchangeable between various brands they cannot be proprietary. I don't own the N40, but since the two are both from AKG I would worry even less. The only brands I know of that uses "proprietary" MMCX are RHA and DUNU.
thanks for the review!
Great review.
How would you compare these to the Onemore quadriver?
Cp145 vs cp100???
The akg n5005 is using the cp145 eartips.

Since you've been waiting 3 years for the response haha.
Hey anyway to compare it to Campfire Audio Andromeda iem? Since they both five driver iem (andromeda 5 BA and N5005 hybrid). Anyone? Thanks
Yeah I can definitely do that, but for now I will just say that I prefer N5005's sound signature over Andromeda, and they are more comfortable :)
For something manufactured in china definitely OVERPRICED!
where are these manufactured ?
China
